Okay, give Lucas a minescule amount of credit--he didn't quote Jesus verbatim. The line was "If you're not with me... You're my enemy."

But yeah, he really needs to be slapped for that one.

The point is that they'll dumb down the plot for the stupid western audiences, and use western actors to do the characters.

Conisidering what I've heard about it, I think most audiences agree it makes no sense... not just western ones.

Well, I think Lucas wasn't really thinking when he wrote that line about absolutes--he was taking a potshot at the president, and when someone starts using their fiction as a mouthpiece, it's easy to forget things like logic and coherency.

Well was't the whole point of the film that Anakin was wrong? There was nothing from his 'point of view' to make the Jedi evil; misguided, perhaps, but not evil. There was no reason he couldn't quit the order to be with Padme. He was just a selfish sunnavagun who wanted to save his wife from dying so badly he ended up killing her anyway and plunging the galaxy into tyranny.

More on topic, morally ambiguous villains and heroes certainly have their place, but I do agree that the concept of the sympathetic villain and the ethically challenged hero has become a bit too common in entertainment media. I think it's a trend that's begun to swing the other way, though, for the past few years.

But in America, unlike Australia and even moreso in Germany, laws restricting the sale of video games have been almost universally shot down as against our constitution. It's a few nuts like Jack Thompson and opportunistic politicians like Hilary Clinton--not to mention the brainless media--that drives what anti-game sentiment exists in the US. Most rational people tend to ignore it.

Actually, it's not narcotics, it is performance enhancing drugs like steroids. Some of the drugs depicted in the game aren't actually even illiegal.

And as for whether they care about American football (and they should!) really isn't the issue. Another game was banned for depicting graffiti! It just doesn't make any sense to me that things get banned there for simply depicting crimes. Would a film about graffiti be banned?

Hey, I know we already have a video game thread, but I don't know how many australians are currently reading it. I just read on Gamespot that NFL Blitz: The League was refused classification in Australia because it depicts drug use...

Is it just me, or is this classification system... ridiculously stringent?

Anybody have any thoughts or explanations? This just seems so pointless.

I believe it was Obi Jeewhyen and Rob; they got into an argument and Obi started calling Rob a homophobe because his signature said "Emotcons are gay" ...

Then Rob said that he was gay and called Obi a homophobe. And after that I didn't see much of Obi.
