Windows Vista
Time
I officially have an opinion on Vista now--it sucks.

My mother bought herself a new laptop computer today for her new job, and with it a satelite internet card. Unfortunately, the card doesn't realize that Windows Vista is a newer version than 98SE. Wonderful job with compatibility there, Microsoft. Worse still, it's a slow and buggy mess. I can't even install FireFox on it for God knows what reason.

Dudes, it's like one-frame from a 30 second teaser trailer from E3.

The game will look like the N64 ones, obvioulsy with better graphics.

Bad frame choice.

Seriously, I found the trailer online and am suddenly exicted. I am no, however, terribly hopeful, because it's been a while since Rare has put out a game I've been interested in pruchasing. I want this game to be good, but I'm cautious about being too optimistic.

Honestly, were it not for Banjo Threeie I don't think I would keep the system if a beefier one came out.

I don't care if a new 360 comes out. The loudness doesn't bother me and I can always delete stuff from the harddrive if I need more room. Game saves barely take up any space and there aren't that many games I want to demo for it. But it does suck for people who are very into downloading demos and have a problem with the loud disc drive. Still, they're better off than Sony this generation--for now at least.

And has Banjo Threeie been confirmed? That's friggin' sweet.

Just thought of something else I am curious about, in Ocarina of Time, the top right corner of the screen had representations of all four c buttons and the a and b buttons with a label (i.e. jump, talk, Navi) or an icon representing the idem that is equipped to that particular button. Have they changed this on the Wii version to be representations of the classic controller's buttons rather than the N64 controller's buttons?

I haven't played the Wii version of OoT, but I own the GC version (both the Master Quest disc and the Collector's Edition disc), and on the GC controller you have two options: for the C-Left, C-Right, and C-Down, you can use the X, Y, and Z buttons (respectively) a la Wind Waker, or you can use the C-Stick. The XYZ set-up works fairly well except for playing the ocarina (since there's no C-Up button), at which time you have to use the C-Stick, which is a pain in the ass; it's unresponsive and you have to point the stick in the precise direction or else you screw up the note.

I personally think Wind Waker would be awesome with the Wii-mote, if only for the fact that I could actually use the remote as the Wind Waker instrument.

That would be nice. Also, there is no Wii version of OOT yet.

I had to download it from the Wii Shop Channel... Strange. Heh, I sent a question suggestion "Should the SNES game 'Earthbound' be released on the Virtual Console System?" with the answers being "YES!" and "Maybe."

Please SHUT UP already.

Story in games is fine. You're Darth Revan and Sephiroth killed Aeiris while Tidus awoke to find it was all a dream--including himself.

Story in, say, Tetris or Metal Slug is pointless. You're matching blocks or killing a guy that looks like Hitler, and that's all we need to know. This shouldn't be something we have to argue about.

And Chalts, tell me more. I haven't really kept up with Capcom in several years, so I don't even know about Clover Studio to begin with.

Clover Studio was created earlier this century. They're responsible for the Viewtiful Joe series and IGN's Game of the Year 2006 Okami. Basically, they're known for making great unconventional games whereas Capcom as a whole is known for a few good games and a bunch of crappy Megaman Sequels. And of course, it's Clover that gets the axe.

Anyway, three of Clover's major developers reformed a new studio not affiliated with Capcom called Seeds. Gamespot has an article here
