RE the mayor and mascara: if you've seen LOST or any other movie/show with Nestor Carbonell, he always looks like that - supposedly he has naturally thick eyelashes.

And I'm all for a proper version of the Riddler, and I'd be very intrigued to see Nolan's interpretation of the Mad Hatter as well.

And now for a little tangent of mine about the Riddler:

The Riddler in my mind needs to be an incredibly intelligent person who has an obsessive compulsion to make his crimes take the form of puzzles or traps, whilst leaving clues behind to prove that he's smarter than the police by giving them all the answers and still getting away with whatever it is he's doing.  And his only problem at all with Batman is that he's the only one who's ever outwitted him - basically, his entire anti-Batman motivation is to prove that he's smarter than Batman is.  And he should be NOTHING like the Joker - his riddles aren't jokes, they're puzzles, plain and simple.  And the question mark gimmick needs to be toned down immensely - green suit jacket, black slacks, green tie (maybe with a question mark) and a bowler hat.  No cheesy Jim Carrey-esque costume.

I think I've seen him in a few episodes of the live-action THE TICK.

Chain, that sounds EXACTLY like the BATMAN: The Animated Series version of The Riddler. I'd love to see that particular "rendition" on the silver screen. But who could play him?

That Firefly or Firebug could be an arsonist type. The grey-suited one.

The Mad Hatter could be great too.

The Dark Knight Movie Discussion (July 18th, 2008)
Time

I wholeheartedly agree with another poster stating, "The Burton films are good, the Shumacher crap and the Nolan ones great." Not exact phrasing but the meaning's the same.

Watched this on Friday the 1st of August. Can't wait to go see it again.

Each film so far in this current series which is a duology at the moment just keeps on getting better and better. Only thing which I have issues/nitpicks with:

The running time. The pacing was perfect but it's a rare film of which I felt should've ran even longer as it seemed to me in the back of my mind some scenes were cut out. The pacing was superb and felt the film flowed perfectly. Could've been three hours long with the same exact pacing and just "11" it.

I WANT TO OWN IT ALREADY! Yes, Caps Lock annoys me but damn, I already want to own the DVD/Blu-ray of this I loved it alot. The best Batman film yet. That includes the 1989-1997 series and this current one. Goes for the soundtrack too.

Some of the dialog was muffled slightly by the score. Might've been the screen I watched it at but whatever. Subtitles!

Was the Mayor wearing mascara? Bit interesting. Also noticed the cameo by Cillian Murphy as The Scarecrow. Interesting how a major threat in the last film is just a minor one in this one.

Um, where's the third movie please?;)

Hopefully it'll be a return back to the Manor and the Batcave. This film series is in extremely capable hands. Wonder if Man-Bat, The Mad Hatter, The Penguin, Clayface (Matt Hagen), Black Mask, The Riddler (Batman: TAS version!), Mr. Freeze (ditto from last villain), The Ventriloquist and some other villains which are lesser known baddies will be in this series?

Oh! Still need to see BATMAN: Gothman Knight, of which is on my Netflix queue at the top.

How many other posters have taken in multiple viewings? Can be IMAX or whatever. Just for a tally.

How would you Remastered The OOT, If you had Lucas' Money and Power?
Time

I'd take all the elements and scan them at 4K resolution and the effects at 8K. Hell, why not just the entire film and composite effects in 4K? Get rid of the garbage mattes, optically clean everything so there's grain which is true to the film stock used, scan the audio in a lossless format and other things. Save the 70mm magnetic track, 35mm stereo optical and such.

I'd do a Robert Harris type deal where I wouldn't remove film grain and disable all DNR and EE functions. Then I'd have a polyester 35mm print for DI archiving.

I wouldn't fuck around with anything. Just leave the movies as they are, just straight archiving and no bullshit. Got it? Good.

To Hell with 1080p films/videos. Film has FAR higher resolution compared to 2K.

What's up with all the right-wingers on this site?
Time

Don't know and obviously don't care. I keep out of political threads since it makes alot of people seem like dicks when I just want to chat about the latest fun or cool shit lately. I vote, you vote, opinions differ and hey, some of you humans puzzle me. Inside joke there. I wonder how it was when the U.S. was first starting out and with the Revolution? If same circumstances like we have today with technology, would 200 years ago have been different? Only in alternate histories.

I'd rather argue about a video game or a film compared to coming to petty squabbles over how someone holds their political beliefs. I don't ask them who they're gonna vote for as long as they've voted.

This site needs a better policy with alot of shit. Especially in the Off Topic forums. Perhaps having sub-forums in here? One for random Movies, Video Games, Politics, Music and various others. Meh.

WTF (When the Fuck) are we getting the smiley's back?!

EDIT: AND for the record, I'ma damn Cave Monkey. WHOOPTY-DOO! (We now return you to our irregularly scheduled program.)

Why has this thread been hijacked by Indiana Jones? I thought I started this topic about SW; I guess we so bored we have to talk about something else.

Well, on that note, it's been rumored now twice in the past week by thedigitalbits that Indy IV is hitting dvd in October but that there's still no word on a blu-ray. I'm chalking that up to a lack of information and not to Lucas and Spielberg being crazy enough to not release it on BD. The movie didn't exactly do TPM business. They wouldn't be proving anything by releasing it only on dvd in the fall and holding back on the blu-ray.

Personally, I'd much rather own the Indiana Jones films on Blu-ray compared to Star Wars. I'm not one of those atypical fanboys who whine, bitch and moan about Star Wars. Give me a fucking break, it's just a movie.

Chainsaw Ash and zombie84,

Eh, I'll just keep the Theatrical Cut of Kingdom of Heaven for the extra content and just watch the Director's Cut. Hell, I'm even wanting to buy the Korean Region 3 NTSC of 1492: The Conquest of Paradise just so I can have it in my DVD collection compared to waiting for Dharlie de Lauzirika's treatment for it. I'd consider the Korean DVD, which is 155m, to be an interim copy. The Duellists was brilliant and I favour the Director's Cut of LEGEND highly. Even I own the 20th Anniversary and Collector's Edition 2-Disc of ALIEN to have a "3-Disc" set. Funny thing for GLADIATOR though... I own the Signature Selection 2-Disc AND the Extended Edition 3-Disc, the latter of which I haven't even gotten around to that set at all besides looking at the packaging. BLACK HAWK DOWN I own both the 3-Disc Deluxe Edition and the Blu-ray. So I am a huge fan of Ridley Scott. Someone to Watch Over Me was alright and had great believable acting.

Rule is also applicable for alot of other movies too. Just to have the most complete version of though. The following link is to the "Owned" section of my DVD collection. For my wishlist it's advisable to click the letters for easier browsing. I'm also region free and import quite often. (I have 7 titles on order though. As a side note, I own ALIEN³ more for the Special Assembly Cut which has drastically increased my appreciation for the film.)

Lawrence of Arabia is a film I'd love to see in full 1080p with a proper transfer. Same with alot of films. Could post a list but of course it'd be lengthy.

To bad the o-neg was destroyed in 1997 to create the special edition.

More metropolis footage is a welcome find and i will buy the next dvd edition from kino as i'm sure my public library will as well.

Kino also put out restored versions of siegfried and kriemhildes revenge by Fritz Lang. I believe they also have a version of his murder movie M.

Kino rules they put out the definitive douglas fairbanks sr. editions with the tri strip technicolor, as well as the restored nosferatu.

Criterion has released M. Go for the more current re-release depicted in the image following:

Great news indeed! I know the footage will be restored for the DVD and Blu-ray. Here's hoping Kino will also release more Buster Keaton, Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Nosferatu, Der Golem and other films under their banner.

LordJedi,
I own both the DVD Briefcase set (got it for XMAS) and the HDDVD 5-Disc for BLADE RUNNER. The film has never looked so good. Including the 2.20:1 Workprint.
Keeping the DVD set cause the digipak is very nice. But using the HDDVD to watch.
How come Ridley Scott almost always releases kick ass DVD's? Oh, right... That's cause Mr. Kick-Ass DVD Producer is buddies with him. The great Charlie de Lauzirika.
Funny thing though. I own both the Theatrical and Director's Cuts of Kingdom of Heaven. Thing is, I haven't watched either version yet... So Theatrical first and then DC next.

Anyone else wished Willow had more supplements for the DVD? Oh well.

I'd ban all talent shows, reality shows, celebrity talent shows and celebrity reality shows.

And Ant and Dec.
Same here but no idea about the latter.

I'd have a network only playing classic television shows. Unaltered and in their original broadcast versions. All HD broadcast.
Mission: Impossible (1966-1973); Mission: Impossible (1980's); The Saint; The Prisoner; Space: 1999; Doctor Who (Every Doctor, From Hartnell to McCoy); Remington Steele; Rawhide; Maverick; Quantum Leap; Superman and alot of mini-series.
Another channel would be for National Geographic type stuff and that show Leonard Nimoy hosted way back when. More of a retro-History Channel.
Have another channel showing single season shows such as The Flash; Timecop; Now and Again; and many others.
The Gojira/Godzilla and Kaiju channel. Showing nothing but the original and in Japanese versions of Gojira and Kaiju films. All OAR'd and with subtitles.
The Movie Serial Channel. Rotating network with literal weekly cliffhangers. For each day of the week, a different classic serial with the next chapter the following week on its timeslot in true serial fashion. Lots of Flash Gordon; Dick Tracy; The Shadow; and others.
A network in HD and where everything is in OAR where they show films not even on DVD. Perfect for preservation efforts. High Road to China; alot of Robert Montgomery, John Garfield, Errol Flynn, Stewart Granger and alot of other underrated actors. Alot like TCM but only like I mentioned.

Quality TV instead of all that Reality shite on now. I'd cancel all of them i.e. same way Moth3r would. And have no more. Remember when MTV was about music videos instead of all that reality-shite? I'd have them come back to form.

On an unrelated note, I was looking through some of your older releases and realized I never printed the cover for The Game. I probably burned it to some CD-R somewhere, but after an exhaustive search, I couldn't find it. Could you or anyone help me out?

Maybe I'll just save them for their own DVD for myself. I think everything else is going to stand on its own.
You could put the Indiana Jones specific parts of the interviews on the disc you're wanting to do and also make one for yourself. Why can't it be DL?
I already have a 4-Disc Amaray thickness case for all your Indiana Jones releases Craig. Perhaps four more DVD releases if you want? Just need some disclabels for them though.

Which he did not do. The original negative was in tatters by '93. Even if he had cut it up, he couldn't have done more damage than was already done.

Quite frankly, your spiteful attitude towards Lucas is growing tiresome. I've seen several posts by you calling him insane and saying he belongs in a straightjacket and all sorts of other ridiculous things. And over what? Some movies. Cultural icons or not, that what they are: just movies. To harbor so much ill will towards someone over a few items of entertainment isn't just irrational, it's downright disturbing.

To summarize: "We live in a real world. Come back to it."

Johnboy, I think you have to take these posts with a grain of salt, and I think you are reading into these comments a bit too much. I don't think anyone seriously wants to physically harm Lucas or wishes ill will towards the guy, they are just frustrated that the OOT is treated like crap, so what comes out in post as a rant on the OOT movies spills over that it looks like we all want a pox on Lucas.

I don't hate Lucas, I actually respect the guy for being in that Hollywood box and still bringing up his 3 kids in a normal way rather then most rich Hollywood actors/directors whose kids are in jail by 20 years old cause they are so spoiled because they were brought up with a silver spoon in their mouth. I think Lucas is pretty grounded when it comes to things outside of SW, as he does alot of great stuff with charities, etc. I just think he is past his prime when it comes to movie making, and just like any good musician and athlete, their best years are behind them, and Lucas should just move on from SW & Indy, as sometimes less is more.

Look at Led Zeppelin, have they put out any songs like Stairway to Heaven in the past 20 years? Was Michael Jordan the best player in the NBA when he came out of retirement a second time for the Wizards in 2001? The same goes for guys like Lucas & Spielberg, great athletes and artists have a 'prime' of their careers where they do stuff that knock peoples socks off, and from about 1973-1983, Lucas was in that zone with Graffiti, Star Wars Trilogy, and the Indy Trilogy.
Don't forget the Lucasfilm Ltd. features WILLOW and Tucker: The Man and his Dream.

Hello, I'm new to the forum, and a HUGE Indiana Jones fan. I was sent here by Cassidy, who referred me to this greta place.
I have a DVD backup of my Making of Raiders/Great Movie Stunts VHS, but would love to get a copy from the Laserdisc. I assume the video will be much better than my VHS transfer.
Also, I never even KNEW there was a Making of Temple of Doom. Even thought this is old news for you folks, this is tremendous news for me.
If anyone can help me get any Indy stuff on DVD, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
'Blues

I am in a similar boat, in that I am I would like help in getting all of the Indiana Jones "preservation" DVDs that have been created!! Also, I am relatively NEW to Indiana Jones Films, I am a little late to the "game", to the point that I went with family to see Crystal Skull w/o having seen any of thee other Indy films.

So I would appreciate any in the matter!!!!

Thanks,
Darth

p.s. FYI Just thought that y'all might be curious: I have seen ToD since have seen KotCS, and am going to be watching RotLA and TLC before I go see KotCS, again!!!
Well news on you. I've been a fan of Indiana Jones since about 1986 or something. Long-term fan too.

All of my discs, thus far, have been film specific.

1 and 2 were raiders.
3 and (whenever it gets done) 4 will be temple.
5 is last crusade and I have to see how much more Crusade stuff I have. I know there's a ton out there.
I have some "trilogy" stuff as well as a TON of Kingdom stuff that I just recorded.

It's all a matter of opening the floodgates.
Craig, it'd be great if all the DVD's you do for Indiana Jones were at least two discs each. Then of course a compilation for the Trilogy and a KotCS disc. It's just really slow downloading each part of the Great Stunts vintage featurette for RotLA. If anyone's interested and if it's alright with you, I'd like to do a PiF chain if possible. Albietly slow though.;)

I think daveytod was going to try to make the Shadows of the Empire project, but I think he has given up due to difficulties with it. I would LOVE to see that project come to fruition. It was such a great story and complete packaging, that I know a cool little film/preservation project could come of it. I really hope someone takes up a full-fledged project sometime.

...and you should really do a run through and use a high-quality capture if you are serious about starting a project. flvs from websites are so crappy in quality usually, they really should be used as a last resort. have you tried contacting the person who uploaded it? sometimes they are happy to send out the original higher quality video. If you are really wanting to preserve this stuff, you should get as close to the source material quality as is possible, IMHO.
It's just only temporary until I have them onto disc. More for fun right now compared to anything. Besides, I'm already up to number 51 on all this .flv thing with Infernal Machine. Quality is great for a highly temporary version too. Knowing me I'd be using God-mode for these "preservations". I look at the Infernal Machine .flv's more as a Walkthrough compared to anything at this moment. As I've already said, just more for fun.
But DFNYC's and your DVD for Indiana Jones documentaries I already deleted the .flv files. More interested in having these on DVD and figured the ones I grabbed from YouTube were the "preview" versions. Well, I could only find both of the Raiders of the Lost Ark stuff. Could even do a PiF chain thingy if needed be.*shrugs*

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude or build up suspense. The reason I didn't mention it was because I didn't think that this was the correct forum for talking about other LD movies in the 'SW X0 thread'. Actually, the rare LD that I have is for the '1990 Honda VTec CR-X'. It's a sort of video sales brochure for the car and is quite collectable to other CR-X'ers. It's my precious (insert best Golum voice) ... ohh dear, all this talk aof CR-X's and I think I may have put Ripplin to sleep :/

I remember reading about shadows of the empire as a project to be made into a fanedited movie using the game cutscenes and voiceovers from the PC version as well as the picture only n64 version.

Someone should put up a thread for the Indiana Jones games made for the Nintendo entetainment system Like Raiders of the Lost ark and temple of doom, as well as the PC versions. noy for movie edits but there seem to be some many type of threads like this for star wars and none for Indiana Jones.

You also have the Fate of Atlantis Indiana Jones PC game that was adapted for comic books by Dark Horse Comics.

Then there is the infernal machine and emperor's tomb.

A video only demo for the new unreleased game simply titled Indiana Jones that uses the same engine as force unleashed.

What systems was Last Crusade released on?

One of my Favorite games is the snes trilogy game for indiana jones produced by the super star wars trilogy team, i remember being wowed by the JVC music in midi form on the game. One of the reasons i went out and bought the remastered score for raiders produced by Nick Redman.

The nes version of empire strikes back when it was released was simply awesome the game had still like cutscenes and a scene where Luke Confronts Vader and even James Earl Jones vader voice was sampled in the game.

Unlike the atari game this game had the first satisfactory rendering of the battle of hoth where you could wrap the tow cable around the walker. The same scene was redone and revisited in mode7 when super empire was released for the snes.

As for movies made from games one i wish someone would do is Mass Effect, or blue dragon.
Incorrect about The Force Unleashed. Force Unleashed uses the engine originally developed for the "upcoming" Indiana Jones game.
Last Crusade adventure was released upon the PC in VGA 256 colour. Raiders of the Lost Ark was for Atari 2600. The SNES game you're thinking of is Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures.
Currently I'm using Download Helper and grabbing a complete playthrough of the Infernal Machine. It saves it directly from YouTube as a FLV format on my hard drive.
I also own Emperor's Tomb on PC as well.
I might have slight interest in the Lego Indiana Jones game. Not sure since I was anticipating the 360/PS3 (I own a 360) Indiana Jones 3D video game more.

I remember playing the Super Star Wars Trilogy of games for the SNES.

It's so Ultra-Rare it mustn't be named! Oh, wait, maybe it's a Japanese exclusive or something? It boggles the mind. I'd probably buy an X9 since it might have a finer tuned comb filter. Or an X0.
