Idea: restore the Quantum Leap S2 DVD music...

I believe it does fall under "fan DVDs with alternative audio tracks", even though the alternative audio track is itself a preservation...kind-of like attaching the mono mix to the GOUT

Yeah and/or replacing the French dub track on the Bueller... Bueller... Edition DVD of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and replacing it with the prior versions Audio Commentary with John Hughes.

But this is different. I could just download the episodes in question, the original broadcast with music intact and PM others who're interested. Of course there are Leap fans on here who'd be likely to want the original as broadcasted episodes. Myself? I'd put the particular disc/side in question on my computer which contained the altered episodes, extract the audio and replace it with the broadcast audio with intended music intact.

YEAH RIGHT! I wouldn't even know how to do this.:P

I may as well sign the petition in regards to Universal about the music licensing/replacement regarding Season Four. It's a good thing I'm multi-region capable! I also looked on Amazon UK and both Seasons (Series on the site) 2 & 3 ordered together are only, converted with xe.com, $45. Quite a bargain too.

Eh, I think I'll just download the episodes in question with the music intact.

I think perhaps all the other music featured that Season in both the US Region 1 and UK Region 2 except those particular episodes had their music changed due to music licensing. Wouldn't this qualify as preservation of the original broadcasted audio and not a custom audio track?

Season 1 US retained original music, Seasons 2 and 3 UK retained original music, Season 4 replaced it with generic music for those episodes and Season 5 both US and UK has original music. I just got Season One as a late birthday present from me Momma when we where hanging out yesterday. Seasons Two and Three of course will be purchased from Amazon UK, Four and Five will be purchased via Amazon Marketplace.

As I was saying, someone could grab the original broadcast music, grab the particular episodes and replace said music? This I hope wouldn't fall under the "Regarding fan DVDs with alternative audio tracks" since it'd be a preservation of the originally broadcasted music for these episodes on Season Four? I'm quite the fan of this show.

DVD-BOY said:Season 2 in R2 land (UK, Europe etc) have the original audio - according to the folks over at the dvd forum anyway.

This goes for Season Three also.

Reviving this thread since Season Four, both US and UK releases, had music replaced. Was wondering if anyone would like to work on the episodes to get the correct music replaced? All they'd have to do is grab the audio from the DVD release, watch the broadcasted episodes for the appropriate music and replace that? I figure the picture quality on the DVD season set would be optimal for this project.

Ok, so perhaps someone could capture the correct music from tapes, then getting higher quality versions of the songs to be replaced in the episodes and putting them back in? I figure somebody really great with audio know how would be able to achieve this.

So I guess it'd be a preservation of the original music for Season Four? It'd be great to have the original aired music for Season Four.

Here's the needed music:

BANNED BOND: The Criterion Collection on DVD (Released)
Time

Hey Fan Filtration!

I own the US Ultimate Edition DVD's of all 20 OO7 films and a few of them already on Blu-ray. Titles I own on Blu-ray disc (I still haven't gotten around to getting a player) are: Dr. No; From Russia with Love; THUNDERBALL; Live and Let Die.

I'm mostly interested in the commentaries, isolated scores/sound effects and other random extras from the Criterion LD's. There's the original monoaural audio tracks already on the US Ultimate Editions and Blu-rays. Following question is, does your preservation have the English mono tracks at a higher bitrate? I'm frankly uninterested in the dubbed ones since I'm into original intended audio tracks. My apologies if it seems hoity toity though!

To the person who was making covers based upon the theatrical posters, did you ever complete them? The one for Dr. No looked very appealing. Kudos for using the original font which was used in the menu FF!

Yes, I'm quite an avid OO7 fan. I've also been reading someone made a preservation of the ABC-TV re-edit of On Her Majesty's Secret Service and "EON-ed" Never Say Never Again. I'll be eventually purchasing NSNA on BD of course and course someone post a link towards the thread for this or both? I'll make a search also.

Thanks!

Blu-ray prices not coming down

Just to drag this a bit back on topic to the thread title, I've been seeing more and more players in the $199 range.  I'm hoping they'll be down to $150 by the summer.

It's odd I already own several titles on Blu-ray but not a stand-alone player. Waiting for this also, especially for the profile 2.0 spec.

Can't wait for the Indiana Jones films to be released on 1080p 50GB Blu-ray disc in AVC/VC-1 video codec with lossless audio.

Case in point: I'm selling off the DVD's I own which have all their features transferred over to the BD/HDDVD. Yeah I know HDDVD is obsolete but I've been scoring alot of them for $3.99-$9.99 via inetvideo and Amazon Marketplace. I also use dvdcompare.net also just to double-check and image comparison sites.

American Graffiti a single shot in the opening changed by cgi still to me the movie is ruined, another reason to own the laserdisc.

 That is just plain stupid

Well SkyJedi IS a blatantly stupid moronic dumbass.

Myself? I'd rather own the Indiana Jones Trilogy on Blu-ray thank you very much. As long as they carry over every extra from the 2003/2008 releases. Oh, and everything which came from the Laserdiscs etc. which DFNYC preserved.

Star Wars? I'll pass this time. My interest has long since waned. It IS on BD though, just The Clone Wars movie. So what?

Hell, I don't even own a Blu-ray player yet and I already own KotCS on BD. There's also the "3x DVD" too which works on the HDDVD player. Of course I need to buy more DL's.

Due to some health issues I was having I was forced to take some time off from working on my edit, but now I feel much better.  This set is back in the works, and should be done by this December. I hope.

 Thanks God ;-)

Glad your back , I am waiting patiently for this edit.

Thank his good health and not "God"...

Any plans on using the 720p HD broadcast as a source? Not sure which cut it is but it might be the Theatrical, Director's Edition or Special Longer Version. Keep us updated and welcome back!

James Bond 007 WARHEAD (* unfinished project *)

Batman Beyond said:

You know, I think it'd be best if this re-edit was structured as if it were a Bond film, prior to the Dalton ones. That way, it'd be WARHEAD, the Dalton ones, and then the four Brosnan ones.

What do you think?

Why not just have him make it take place between Licence to Kill and GoldenEye? I mean there's a suitable gap of time between the two films and both movies he's making this project from were made during this time.

WARHEAD: The Forgotten James Bond Film (A re-edit of Detonator I & II). Hey, it could work maybe.

Somewhere on the internet I've also seen custom movie posters of James Bond films that never were. Cool concept. And if you wanted my opinion, George Lazenby should've made another 007 film. Same goes for Timothy Dalton but legal issues for the film rights of the character from I think 1989 to 1994 put a temporary hold on that. Said film was going to titled (based upon what I've read) Property of a Lady. It might've been great or it might've been shite. May never know.

Waterworld ABC Cut? A ton of info - see McFly's posts for details (Released)

Gromit said:

Longtime member as Robin but have created a new account since I lost my previous forum info.

Here is the Original cover for the forthcoming Extendend cut.  Perssonally, I like it.

Here is what we know about the specifications  so far:

This two-disc set features an extended cut with over 40 minutes of additional footage and the original theatrical cut – both digitally remastered for optimum picture quality.

The Extended version (177mins) is presented in 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with English DD5.1 Surround audio and English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.

The Theatrical Cut (136mins) is presented in 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with English, French and Spanish DD5.1 Surround audio and English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. The disc also includes the theatrical trailer.

That's from DVDTimes.co.uk ;)

Sucks it doesn't have any extra features and misuse of two discs. Could've had the first disc use seamless branching and the second disc with a shiteload of extras. I'll buy it if it's for a low price.

Universal marketing research says Waterworld Extended Cut will sell like hotcakes if they plaster the cover with Jack Black.

Eh I bet the cover will be ok. Okay meaning they might not plaster it with a berjillion quotes from random reviewers. And there's also custom covers.

Hopefully it won't contain a "Digital Copy". What kind of bullshit is that?

Seriously, do you pull this shit out of your ass?  Ghostbusters 2 may not have been as good as the first, but it wasn't aweful.

I'm in agreement SkyJedi2005 pulls shit out of his ass. He's deservedly on my ignore list.

Any idea if this would be rentable via Netflix?

I have a boring question  - any updates ?

Ditto his remark. Only problem I have with The Director's Edition is there's too much dirt and such to make it a good release. I could barely tell if there was film grain on the official DVD I'm assuming a soft filter was used for the lense on this feature.

Can't wait for this set and eventual remastered 1080p Blu-ray release. How was the HD broadcast though?

HEY! The booklet should be thicker! 100 pages! Seriously cool though since I vaguely remember this growing up. I even voted for one of the covers they were gonna choose.

Only problem is, where would this sit on a persons DVD shelf? I'd buy this if I had the extra cash lying about. That's the only, including the booklet not being a mini-book, problem I have with this set.;)

147 EPISODES?! best to take this in small does and not go overkill watching it. Don't wanna get burned out on The Real Ghostbusters! Come to think of it, I might've had some of the action figures from the show.

So if anyone's buying this, do some screenshots and such.

Little point of fact, Ernie Hudson originally wanted to voice Winston Zeddemore for the series. Can't wait for GHOSTBUSTERS: The Video Game. It's going to be damn fun.

Why not wait for the X0 release? I kid, I kid. (Probably wait another several years for those I take it.)

Is there a link someone can PM me for all the Laserdisc extras from the Definitive Edition and the Special Edition LD releases? The documentaries of course.

I own the 2006 "GOUT" and the 2004 Bonus Material disc. I'm not a rabid foaming at the mouth Star Wars fan compared to alot of patrons of this site who prefers to whine, bitch and moan all the time.

I still want to take a look at this edit, I have for a long time but I seem to forget about this board frequently, but Universal has announced they're doing it themselves. Hooray!

At least the version from Universal will be 1.85:1 proper and not look like it came from the television. Oh, and DNR'd up the wazoo. Hopefully this won't have an idiotic "Digital Copy" on it. Hopefully the cover won't be shite. All it takes is patience alot of the time for an official release. This goes for many films excluding Star Wars.

Should be lower priced compared to MSRP obviously.

RE the mayor and mascara: if you've seen LOST or any other movie/show with Nestor Carbonell, he always looks like that - supposedly he has naturally thick eyelashes.

And I'm all for a proper version of the Riddler, and I'd be very intrigued to see Nolan's interpretation of the Mad Hatter as well.

And now for a little tangent of mine about the Riddler:

The Riddler in my mind needs to be an incredibly intelligent person who has an obsessive compulsion to make his crimes take the form of puzzles or traps, whilst leaving clues behind to prove that he's smarter than the police by giving them all the answers and still getting away with whatever it is he's doing.  And his only problem at all with Batman is that he's the only one who's ever outwitted him - basically, his entire anti-Batman motivation is to prove that he's smarter than Batman is.  And he should be NOTHING like the Joker - his riddles aren't jokes, they're puzzles, plain and simple.  And the question mark gimmick needs to be toned down immensely - green suit jacket, black slacks, green tie (maybe with a question mark) and a bowler hat.  No cheesy Jim Carrey-esque costume.

I think I've seen him in a few episodes of the live-action THE TICK.

Chain, that sounds EXACTLY like the BATMAN: The Animated Series version of The Riddler. I'd love to see that particular "rendition" on the silver screen. But who could play him?

That Firefly or Firebug could be an arsonist type. The grey-suited one.

The Mad Hatter could be great too.

Interesting - I'll need to watch the Riddler episodes of TAS again (I haven't seen it in ages and had to sell my DVDs of the first two seasons during my period in between jobs).  And I had a perfect idea for who could play that rendition of the Riddler a while ago ... then completely forgot who I'd thought of.

Chain, I believe the Batman: TAS Volumes are only $17.99 each on Amazon.com Volumes of course meaning they're in production order and not broadcast order. Should be for all four volumes.
