Looks like the prequels are not aging well.
Time

I can also use the logic of understatement to try to make someone's comment (no matter what comment it is) look foolish. That's the second worst tactic to criticizing someone for a few spelling mistakes.

We aren't talking about a few years, we're talking about 19 years, like I said, baking in two suns and probably suffering from whatever psychological repercussions from The Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire. I like the idea.

Unlike a lot of prequel excuses made by PT fans, THAT doesn't require a freakish amount of stretching or distorting. It's plain, simple, and believable. Don't act like it's not.

Why does Grievous have such problems with coughing and breathing, when in fact he has no visible lungs? Someone I talked to earlier said that it's because he's an alien, and he must keep his lungs some place in his body we aren't familiar with. THAT is a stretch that I draw the line at. Considering Grievous was missing most of his body, there weren't any lungs in his chest capsule when Obi-Wan pryed it open, and I somehow highly, highly doubt his lungs are kept in his brain.

What do you LIKE about the EU?

I forgot to mention the Star Wars manga.   That was some great EU.  Yeah it was based on Lucas screenplay but not strictly canon.  The first one was the best the one that won the eisner award.  I believe just like the films every different one was done by someone else.  To me Return of the Jedi was the weakest out of all three, because of the style used on that one.

I also wish like the star wars adaptation by Barreta there was no special edition stuff in there.

You know whats good out there now is the Legacy comics and the Kotor comics.  But if you did not read them starting with issue 0 you would be lost in terms of plot, they are not like a serial that you can pick up a random issue that is a standalone and each part has an arc to it.

The cover art for the Clone Wars comic is usualy very good.  Too bad i can't say the same for the interior art which is also good but not as good.  The weakest links are the dialogue and plot just like the movie or cartoon series.

Are you talking about the one that features Vader's secret apprentice Tao? I read about that on Wookieepedia and hunted down the torrent, but it's not finished downloading yet.

Last Saturday I went to a comic book convention in Joplin, Missouri and bought the first collection volume of Star Wars Marvel comics republished by Dark Horse. Also picked up Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

Started with the comic first and am greatly enjoying it so far.

I already had SOTME on an ebook, and read a few pages, but reading a novel on the computer just will never be my thing. I prefer to have it more accessable to where I can just get it out and read in without having to deal with computer programs. Also, often when I read an ebook on the computer I get easily distracted by other things going on in the toolbar or whatever.

Ironically, probably the last ebook I read from start to finish was "The Secret History of Star Wars". That's back before it was published into an actual book.

Aaaaanyhow, I'm like the guy that posted already. I'm more interested in the vintage EU, though I'll admit I just started my trip into the EU world. The Galaxy Far, Far Away as interpreted in that era just tends to feel more exotic, open-ended, and adventurous.

If the radio shows count as EU, I love those also.

I did read Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader, which is relatively new, and enjoyed it. I guess because that's one of the few books that I know of that bothers to really delve into Vader's psyche and unique life as a cyborg. Also read most of the Revenge of the Sith novelization. It was okay, but I thought the writing style was a little iffy.

So... The Clone Wars "movie"...
Time

Anakin's fall did need to be tear-jerking. But it wasn't even tear-jerkingly bad. Instead it was pretty much a yawn.

The insertion of Hayden as ghost Anakin in ROTJ, was the final nail in the coffin. Anakin goes from being an evil Sith back to his ordinary evil "Jedi" self.

If we go by the saga alone, we see Anakin was never truly a hero. He wasn't even remotely likable. There was nothing to redeem. There was nothing "tragic" about his character.

In the real world, the word "concede" has many definitions that go beyond the dictionary.

I think it was obvious to everyone that in this case, it meant: an attempt to end the discussion because you knew you were wrong, knew I was right, and had little confidence left in your argument to continue.

No, actually I tried to end the discussion because I saw it was likely to descend into us just chucking personal insults at each other and I wanted to avoid that. Plus I was sick of talking to you.

Clearly you interpreted it in a way that suited the needs of your ego. But as you can see from posts above, my argument is doing quite well against yours. Yours is not helped by the fact that you seem dead set against understanding my point of view at all. So, as you see, I don't in fact lack confidence in my point of view. And to be honest, I see your point of view as a case of not seeing the big picture.

"It's over Anakin! I have the goatee."

That's about how much sense it makes, when you really think about it.

The least they could have done is give Obi-Wan several more yards of higher ground, instead of a few feet. All Anakin had to do in the film was take a little jump, instead of a big one along with flips that leaves you seriously questioning his intelligence.

You can't pretend your unique connotations of a word applies to all people, or assume they'll know exactly what you mean just by using it. At least not in an objective discussion where you wish to make any sort of progress.

Words themselves aren't some abstract concept. Poems and stories can be. Individual words however, no.
