I love two of the films (ANH and ESB), and have a soft spot for ROTS (at least Vader's defeat on Mustafar and subsequent reconstruction as the familiar cyborg).

In episode 7, I'm sure Obi-Wan's ghost will explain that he actually meant "betrayed me, his closest friend, and murdered me by breaking my heart."

A general idea of what?

Having him survive is a little too Disney for me.

Like that even comes close to making any sense whatsoever, especially when I describe what he would probably be doing after he survived.

White Vader is cool, but the black suit hid blood stains a lot better.

Me and Cibernite are divided in that respect.

I don't think the side he takes (Rebels or Imperials) should be ambiguous. Don't get me wrong, I love the hell out of morally dark gray characters, but I think it would be undermining any sort of redemption for Vader if applied in this case.

How do you atone for hacking up toddlers? Spend the remainder of your diseased life wholly devoted to defending the weak and helpless. Save several times more children than you murdered.

Does that truly atone for the actions? You could argue yes or no. But the point is, Vader would be deeply obsessed with correcting his past mistakes. As long as in his own mind his evil deeds are never truly atoned for, then the good he will do will end up greatly outweighing what he once did.

Part of the atonement is that he'll never forgive himself. A self-punishment comparable to a priest breaking out a whip and flagellating himself non-stop.

If I ever did do a Vader voice-over for an animation or fan film, I would go my own creative route instead of just doing an impression. Though if it were in my edit of the films, I would go for the impression.

I can do an excellent JEJ/Vader impression.

Why is Adywan replacing Anakin's eyebrows in the unmasking scene? That was one of the few changes that made sense and wasn't obnoxious.

I don't know. I like the idea of undergoing a complete recreation once consumated into the Sith Order.

EyeShotFirst brings up a great point, which I actually thought about when I thought of the idea.

Viewers will be asking themselves: "Why is the Emperor laughing?! Is it because he's literally insane, or is it because he knows he can return at any hour... or minute?"

It would make worlds of difference in making the Emperor even more menacing. The answer won't be beat over the heads of fans, and the questions themselves will give the impression that the story isn't truly "over." The story in ROTJ unlike before won't be wrapped up with a nice little bow.

And then, of course, fans will write an assload of fanfictions and whatnot to explain what happens later, but as it stands, it will all just be theory. Adywan would probably be the "Lucas" and give his canon thoughts on it. :)

I like his reimagining of Jar-Jar Binks. His attitude reminded me of Duck Dodgers. :P I do wish they had done a dub instead of a sub. There were a lot of subtitles to read, and while I have nothing at all against reading, I do watch a film to watch a film. If I want to spend a lot of time reading while being entertained, then I'll pick up a book.

 I also suggest a re-dubbing of his voice so it isn't so laughable; have it be along the lines of Star Wars: Clone Wars, where it's more menacing and metallic than in the ROTS we have now.

There could be ways to have Vader survive. Edit out some dialogue alluding to his impending death, take out the scene with him leaning back, eyes closing, and going limp. Take out the appearance of his ghost, obviously.

It would make sense that he isn't at the Rebel's celebration. It could be left up to the viewer to decide what is going on behind the scenes: Vader undergoing repairs, possibly preparing to work as an avenger of sorts against the remaining Imperials peppered across the galaxy.

And no, don't bother to come back with some argument about "it would undermine his redemption", bla bla. He would be redeemed, but would also be atoning for his sins with the aforementioned theory.

It may or may not work. I like brainstorming on how seemingly innocuous changes mean so much for the overall story.

Whoever it was that said Palpatine isn't a lunatic but an over confident old man: You're right. You're right in the sense of the ROTJ we have now, but it's worth thinking about the implications of what would change about his character if we had him laughing like a madman while falling instead of yelling. When I posted that idea, I even admitted it would change his character. That's one of the points about the whole idea! I never liked the Emperor as a villain to begin with, but to me, if that change was made, it would make him more interesting to me personally.

What if Palpatine, instead of screaming as he plummits to his death, was laughing hysterically? That'd be one way to make his character into a guy that's revealed to be a totally unhinged psycho.

I've never seen a Star Wars fan film that I liked.

The only movie by Kershner i have seen that was good was The Empire Strikes Back.   So i believe it was collaboration more than anything.  You see you had Lucas when he was actually still a good filmaker, Kasden when he still could write, Kersh when he could still direct and Kurtz as the producer.

Plus some of the best work of the Old ILM, John Williams Score, the actors gave good performances.  Some of the best Cinematography in the saga.  They actually put out a sequel that was better than the first film. Something that rarely happens in film.

It was collaborative, but you can't overstate the importance of Kershner in making ESB what it is, considering he was the director.

Much of it comes down, I think, to Lucas being jealous of the utter greatness that was Kirshner.
