Ideas: Re-edits for various movies
Time
T3, if only there was a way to make that movie decent. Take out all the errors like John being 13 in T2 (according to the police computer at the start of T2 when the T-100 looks at it - he's 10), Arnie calling himself a "T-101" (he's a frigging T-800... MAYBE T-850)... Sarah's death date (she was 29 in T2 "this next one is interesting a 29-year-old-female ...") ... Take out the crap like the poofter-night-club, Arnie telling John he killed him (I mean really, telling him that would make John KNOW never to trust a T-800 terminator with skin number 101 as if he would anyway, what a load of crap get rid of it). The same thing as explaining the targets the T-X is going for, after all if she does really kill important people later on they'll never become important and it will never know who to kill - just make it look like a killing machine. Remove the mention of hydrogen fuel-cells, remove the fuel cell explosion... I dunno what else I only watched the damn thing like twice. It would be one hell of a task fixing that movie I tell you!

It would be better to leave it as non-anamorphic. There are players already on the market that will automatically make non-anamorphic DVDs anamorphic on the fly while playing. You could open your set and find it damaged. The best idea is to de-interlace it, and save it as 24fps at the original resolution on your PC and then never delete that source.

Printing Star Wars DVD covers
Time
Rik, just to let you know. I had my friend with a really good printer print the covers for me (on Photo paper, no less). He is a graphics designer and so he's used to cutting the margins and stuff like that anyway. He said he printed them at 310 DPI and at that resolution they are perfect. A bit of a squeeze getting them in for the first time, but once in they are the perfect width and height.

So I guess you'll need to put the subtitles for the aliens back in later? It sounds like the quality will be second-to-none once you're done (after all, the official DVDs can't be better quality as long as they aren't the originals). I would suggest still using burnt-in subtitles rather than player-invoked ones. Have you thought about seamless-branching the opening crawl with the pre-ANH one? I wonder if MagnoliaFan could edit a cut of Terminator 3 that removes the story errors (eg John being 13 instead of 10 in T2, Arnie calling himself a T-101 which is incorrect, etc) and actually makes it a half-decent move? Nah, such a thing could never be done.

- You can keep them on iit I was just curious
I haven't downloaded the covers torrent yet if that's what you mean.

MY Ultimate/Final/Archival Editions
Time
: A NEW HOPE
: -Insert a faint Imperial March into the 'music-free slot' when Vader looks around the Blockade Runner.
: -Clean-up or re-dub both Vader's breathing and dialogue to match the other movies. This really, really bugs me, and is sure to bug me even more when RotS comes out and Vader sounds as clear as ever.
: -Digitally add the tombstones (from AotC) into the Lars Homestead.
: -The activation & color of Luke's lightsaber in Ben's House need to be fixed.
: -Insert The Imperial March into first shot of Death Star.
: -Insert The Imperial March into shot of Death Star after the burning homestead scene, and have it continue on into the interrogation scene.
: -Insert a Dug (Sebulba?) into the Cantina; either in the lizardman/wolfman slot or the elephantman/wolfman slot.
: -Change arm in Cantina so it has no blood. And make it a hoof to match what we see in the longshots.
: -Show Ben's saber tuning on & off; no more of these off-screen sound effects!
: -Insert The Imperial March into the shot of the Death Star after the Cantina.
: -Change Jabba's voice & appearence to match TPM & RotJ.
: -Insert The Imperial March into the shot of the Death Star over Alderaan.
: -Following that shot, insert a scene with Bail Organa talking to another Rebel Leader via hologram (Ackbar?), possibly about Leia's dissapearance and the Death Star. Then cut to Tarkin lookiing at Alderaan on the viewscreen.
: -Insert a shot of the Death Star blocking out the sun on Alderaan, with Bail Organa and other looking up in horror. Then cut to the activation of the superweapon.
: -Fix the activation, deactivation, and color of Luke's saber on the Falcon. It's freakin' WHITE!
: -Change the seeker ball to CG (like in AotC).
: -In the scene where the dude comes in and says the Rebels are on Dantooine, change the timing of Vader's line to match his gesture.
: -MAYBE insert a scene where Vader reports to the Emperor after detecting Obi-Wan. It makes perfect sense that he would contact Palpatine after storming off ("I sense something, a presence I've not felt since..."). Then have Palpatine tell Vader to be wary and inform Tarkin (He is here...).
: -Insert a faint Imperial March when Vader is walking through the Death Star halls.
: -Make the Diaogna look more realistic.
: -Re-dub all the Stormtrooper lines with Temura Morrrison. This goes for the whole trilogy, including Boba.
: -Improve the Vader/Kenobi duel. Some dramatic music (possibly the same from their SW3 duel?) would be nice. Also, fix saber effects (both optical and audio) so they match the other films. The saber effetcs are really bad, and the sounds of this duel are WAY different from the others.
: -Change the gunport sequence; possibly more TIEs or have the Falcon be moving (I always thought this sequence was boring).
: -Show the Falcon going to hyperspace before Vader says, "They've just made the jump into hyperspace."
: -Change Death Star plans in Rebel Breifing to match the ones in AotC.
: -Update the graphics on the Death Star.
: -Change a couple of the explosions on the Death Star; some of them still look not-so-good. (Other than that I think the space battle looks great. It's amazing how good CGI can be when time and effort is put into it.)
: -Insert a scene where Vader goes to Coruscant to report to Palpatine, like Dooku does in AotC. This would take place between Luke's landing the awards ceremony. On a landing pad at the Imperial Palace, the Sith Lords would discuss the death of Obi-Wan, the destruction of the Death Star, and the rise of a new enemy, Luke Skywalker. The ESB conversation would have be altered to go along with this one.

: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
: -Fix the Taun-Taun effects. Some are good, but others need improvement.
: -After Luke cuts the Wampa's arm off, there's a lightsaber deactivation noise, but Luke's saber stays on; have it turn off.
: -Add a few more AT-STs to the Battle of Hoth (to sort of establish them for RotJ).
: -MAYBE add more Snowtrooper/Rebel soldier fighting into the Battle of Hoth.
: -Add a few more background monsters to Dagobah; "Massive lifeforms readings...".
: -In the scene where you see Vader's head, make it so he's watching a hologram of Padme. Audio would be the best way to do this, since you can't really see into Vader's chamber. I'm hoping she sends him a goodbye letter of sorts in RotS, and this could be used here and in RotJ.
: -Change the Emperor to Ian McDiarmid. Change the music to Sith Chants/Emperor's Theme. Change the dialogue if to fit with a new ANH scene.
: -Again. re-dub all the Stormtrooper and Boba Fett lines with Temura Morrison.
: -Update ALL the windows on Cloud City. The SE is inconsistent; in one shot a window is updated, but in another, it's not.
: -Add more training on Dagobah, IF IT WILL FIT. Jumping, lightsaber skills, etc.
: -Have the Falcon fight some TIEs as it escapes Cloud City ("What about those fighters?").
: -Change Vader's line back to "Bring my shuttle", and take out all the new SE stuff. It's totally useless and interrupts the flow Luke's rescue.
: -Flip the reverse frames when Vader & Piett talk about capturing the Falcon back to normal. I have no idea why they did this, but the Imperial uniforms make it obvious.

: RETURN OF THE JEDI
: -Add some PT aliens to Jabba's Palace.
: -Do something about the dance number in Jabba's Palace. The CG really sticks out, so either re-do it or change it back to the original.
: -Change some of Boush's lines so "Yoto" doesn't mean everything.
: -Take out the *BURP* of the big frog. It can still eat the lizard though.
: -The compositing of the Rancor is HORRIBLE! The creature itself looks okay, but when it interacts with Luke, it needs a big upgrade. Don't totally replace it with CG though, just fix the compositing.
: -MAYBE extend the Boba/Luke confrontation (with a couple of stunt doubles).
: -Add some limbs flying around or something as Luke uses his lightsaber on the Sail Barge; Make it look like he's using a LIGHTSABER, not a stick.
: -Insert SOME shot of Han flying the Falcon; during the conversation as they leave Tatooine would do. It's a great injustice we never got to see him flying his baby in the conclusion of the trilogy.
: -The Emperor's theme is good, but alter it to incorporate vocals (like in the PT, which sounds even cooler).
: -Extend the Luke/Ben conversation, with cut dialogue and all (the parts that fit in with RotS).
: -Fix some of the Speeder Bike effects. Most are good, but some still need improvement.
: -Insert a scene where Vader is watching the same Padme hologram from MY ESB either right before or right after he tells the Emperor about Luke being on Endor.
: -Have 3p0 explain WHY the Ewoks join the Alliance; they're being used for slave labor and loosing their home, etc.
: -Leia's memories of her mother probably won't jive with RotS, can something be done about this?
: -If there's any way to have Leia realize Vader is HER father too, please do it. Carrie Fisher was really out of it here.
: -Add a couple of AT-ATs to the Battle of Endor; there’s at least one there already.
: -In the space battle, have some Star Destroyers fight some Mon Calamari Cruisers; big space warfare.
: -MAYBE add some alien Rebel pilots for diversity’s sake.
: -Spruce-up & extend the Luke/Vader duel.
: -Originally, Luke was supposed to roll his saber to Vader under the catwalk; you can see Vader holding Luke’s saber in some shots. So, use this scenario to have Luke Force-Call VADER”s saber to him, having Luke defeat Vader with the RED blade; which I think would be AWESOME. I don’t care if the hilts don’t match-this is too cool to pass up.
: -Remove the plexiglass Han form the Endor Bunker explosion.
: -Change the visual of the Endor Bunker explosion to match what actually hap

I agree with you Rik, it is very reasonable for you to make some profit for your time off the discs. It is also reasonable for TR-47 to make more profit since he is the original author of the transfer. Jetrell Fo got the set about the same as what TR-47 charges, so it was worth it. Have a look at this:

PAL is frame for frame the same as the source material. The 4% speedup is noticed by something like less than 1% of people - and then it's only the sound. There have been advancements in technology that allow this to be less noticeable. On the other hand you have NTSC's jaggies caused by the 2-3 speedup, which is noticeable by far more of the public than the audio problem in PAL. I notice the ugliness of NTSC's system.

NTSC:
Lines/Field: 525/60
Horizontal Frequency: 15.734 kHz
Vertical Frequency: 60 Hz
Colour Subcarrier Frequency: 3.579545 MHz
Video Bandwidth: 4.2 MHz
Sound Carrier: 4.5 MHz

PAL:
Line/Field: 625/50
Horizontal Frequency: 15.625 kHz
Vertical Frequency: 50 Hz
Colour Sub Carrier: 4.433618
Video Bandwidth: 5.0 MHz
Sound Carrier: 5.5 MHz

You can't sit there and tell me that the resolution doesn't matter. If that's the case then I suppose you don't care if DVD is anamorphic or not? After all, the 16:9 screen area in Non-Anamorphic PAL has 432 lines, Anamorphic NTSC has 480 lines. Non-Anamorphic NTSC has 360 lines, Anamorphic PAL has 576 lines.

Now as far as 2.35:1 goes, it has just 272 lines or resolution in NTSC. This is what our beloved NTSC Star Wars Definitive Collection LaserDiscs are limited to. PAL would have 50 more lines. That translates to about 20% higher resolution. Pal releases are no longer NTSC-2-PAL jobs except where absolutely necessary - if the source material allows for it it is mastered directly to PAL. Therefore the September release of the Star Wars DVDs will see the PAL release have a much better presentation then the NTSC, and like I said watch it on a computer and you can de-speedup it to 24fps exactly how it was presented in Theatres.
