Sorry for the constant edits I’m still somewhat new to writing on the site lol
Sorry for the constant edits I’m still somewhat new to writing on the site lol
Update: Still need to work on it more and a big change im thinking about is just making it one big 6 hour film with two intermissions and if I finish it, release it in two or three files.
At that point it’s just three movies.
At the moment I’m putting all my attention to the four hour long edit for the season. In which I’ve so far by taking notes and going through the season I’ve managed to cut down from 6 hours and 17 minutes (excluding the credits and theme post episode one), to 5 hours and 59 minutes.
Update: After thinking about it, I think I want to give editing the show down to a more film length another shot. If it doesn’t work I go the 6 hour route. The goal for this tho isn’t to cut it down to two hours like the other edits I’ve seen but to cut it down to four hours, which to me is still a relatively more film like length. And this time the intermission will be just one in the middle, probably after chapter four.
For me keep the aspect ratio, and just trim down the epilogue and remove mentions of Bruce’s dreams.

Update: Sorry for disappearing again (you know how life is). To be honest I have lost interest in this edit and thus have decided to cancel it. Of course I’m open to others taking over and making their own versions. But for me, I’m gonna try and focus on other projects.
Hey, so a lot of things have happened in the last six months or so, and I’m afraid I’ve not been able to do any editing (or anything creative at all).
I do have an update, though. The Hobbit movies were shot in 5K but mastered with a 2K digital intermediate, meaning all the VFX and colour work was done at (effectively) HD resolution and that any 4K release would have to be a mere upscale. However, it turns out that for the recent 4K disc release they’ve actually re-rendered the VFX and done a new 4K DI, and among other things, the colour looks a lot better than the original versions, more natural and more consistent with the Lord of the Rings films.
So, as you might have guessed, I’ve decided I want to use the 4K release as a base for the Roadshow Edition. I’m not sure that the final release will be available in 4K itself; I may find it too limiting in terms of using additional material.
I won’t have to go quite back to the beginning. I can drop in the new version over the top of the old for much of the picture, and although I expect I’ll have to redo my own colour correction, day-for-night grades and so on, as well as some of the fiddlier transitions, it shouldn’t take too long… once I have the source material, which may take a little while given my present situation, as I haven’t been able to get my hands on a copy just yet.
Hey it’s all cool, take all the time you need. And it’s like Shigeru Miyamoto once said-
“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”
Interesting
Have you considered doing a slow fade to and from black and white? Sort of like what Park Chan-wook did for the “Fade to Black and White” cut of Lady Vengeance. If timed perfectly it could really elevate the visual storytelling of the film to a whole new level.
I don’t have the best skills or tools available, but if you want any help I won’t mind lending a hand where I can.
Forgive my late reply but that does sound like an interesting idea. I’ll take that into consideration! Thanks!
Update: So something I’ve decided to do was re-include the Byers epilogue but cut out the slug scene and rearrange it so it comes before the new Hopper ending.
This interesting in that while there is already a Starnger Things TV to movie edit series, that one takes the opposite approach of cutting things until it fits in a movie runtime, while you opted to just make more movies. Are you only doing Season 1?
Terribly sorry for the late reply but I am planning on just doing season one. Tbh while I understand wanting to trim season one into a single movie, I speak from experience that the season is paced in a way that removing something would be like removing a puzzle piece.
Update for volume two (v1), I’m gonna cut out the Will slug scene and see how it plays out. For two reasons why I’m doing this-
A, I don’t really have any desire to do the other seasons and I want this to feel like it’s own thing, so ending with Hopper leaving the eggos may make it feel less cliffhanger and more ambiguous.
B, to make the transition to the credits easier so I don’t have to include the main Stranger Things title and have to use (a rather sloppy as of now) fade out with the audio.
Sorry but as of this date the project has not been released. I’ve not even gotten started on it yet to be honest (I need to get my hands on a dvd copy for me to rip).
This is a sorta small project I’m hoping to work on tho while working on my Stranger Things edit, so it should be a somewhat easy edit to make, and once I find a way to share it, I’ll be sure to make it available via PM.
This edit hasn’t come out yet and I’m already confident I’ve found a new favorite Hobbit fan edit. That new opening alone gets me excited. Keep up the good work.
This fanedit (inspired by this comment I read on YT) takes Parasite and combines both the black and white and color versions of the film to create a thematic visual with the colors.
How it will work (and spoilers for Parasite)-
The film starts in black and white, representing the Kim’s down on their luck life. But then when the son goes to interview for the Parks, the color enters into the film as he walks the stairs up to the house.
But then after evading the ex maid and her husband, the film turns back to black and white for the rest of the film to show how the Kims are back to the bottom
Hello! I am working on a fan edit that cuts season one of Stranger Things season one film but instead of it being cut down, it’ll be shown in its entire 6 hour long time with two intermissions. Because of this there are now only small cuts added in in order to make for a better flow between episodes.
The free rapid downloading software won’t let me download the files from Pastebin.
