The Liam Neeson Mystery (spoilers within but questions answered)
Time
ANAKIN: Don't make me destroy you, Master. You're no match for the dark side.

OBI-WAN: I've heard that before, Anakin . . . but I never thought I'd hear it from you.

^I could give or take the other stuff, but I really wish those lines were in there, and hope that we DO get the extended duel on the DVD (along with all the other deleted scenes).

Yeah, the real problem is Anakin being flung across the hangar. There are plenty of shots of Dooku gesturing from his fight with Yoda.

I was skimming through the middle of AotC in search of more editing ideas and came up with this:
-Anakin's dream can be worked out very effectively. Keep the close up shot of him opening his eyes, but for the rest, insert a RotS-esque dream showing Shmi tied up, and maybe some of the Tusken Raider attack from ANH. Then make the movie transition to MTHaslett's idea for the porch scene. I figured we should at least see some Sandpeople in Anakin's dream, and the attack on Luke is the best place to get it from. Heck, it could even be argued Anakin is foreseeing that incident as well.
-Lama-Su's line "I trust you will enjoy your stay" doesn't sit well with me, as Obi-Wan is just there to inspect the clones, no "staying" involved. I don't know, that just stuck out at me.
-When Anakin is looking into the suns, we should SEE the suns. We do in RotS on Mustafar, so why not here, where he is in the exact same spot his son will be in 20 years?
-The shot of the flying whale coming out of the wave should be cut. This is just before yet another establishing shot of Tipoca City before the meeting with Jango, and it looks ridiculous.
-I don't know what your stance is on Dooku/Tyranus, but regardless of whether he is a Sith or not, a bounty hunter like Jango should not just offer info to Obi-Wan like, "I was hired by a man names Tyranus on one of the moons of Bogden." The line should be cut just as in MagnoliaFan's version.
-When Qui-Gon is heard, I noticed for the first time you can hear Vader's breath as well at the end of the "NO!" And it occured to me, could this be the "NO!" from RotS after Vader learns of Padme's death? Just an interesting thought I had.

Some great ideas of late, especially MTHaslett.

Before there had been quite a debate over the Yoda/Dooku duel. I had originally supported no lightsabers, but force lightning, but after Rots and what they did with Yoda and Dooku's characters I believe things would be best if as soon as Dooku sees Yoda's approaching, he flings the crane (or whatever) onto Obi-Wan and Anakin and flees to his ship. I think these were Trooperman's initial thoughts on it anyway, so good foresight on that. The Sidious/Yoda confrontation will be infinitely more powerful once *it* is Yoda's big reveal instead of the duel with Dooku. Lucas jumped the gun on that one. Not to mention there isn't a hint of force lightning from Dooku in RotS, and the whole master/apprentice rivalry between him and Yoda went absolutely nowhere.

About the beginning of the duel Trooperman, I know you had discussed cutting out Anakin charging Dooku, cut away to something else, and when we come back Anakin is already writhing on the floor. But Obi-Wan and Anakin have a great exchange in RotS: "This time we'll do it together," "I was about to say that." You lose that in your version. So the thought occured to me, although this is probably impossible, can the force lightning be somehow "painted out" to have it appear as if Dooku throws Anakin hard across the room? Any thoughts on that?

and I hope I'm not going off-topic here, but I was thinking about the Vader/Emperor/Bridge shot, and suddenly I thought:

Maybe MagFan is going to reuse that scene, by incorporating it into episode VI, and pretend that they are overlooking the construction of the 2nd death star (not the first)!

However, I am probably just rambling as I am in severe need of sleep... Maybe I dreamed this up... hrmm.

That would be interesting, but wouldn't work for several reasons:
1) The 2nd Death Star skeleton does not look like what we see in RotS. Although it does make more sense construction wise to build it that way, unless someone wants to paint in more skeleton in RotJ, they just wouldn't match up.
2) Where would this scene go? Certainly not at the end of ESB. The end of ANH? That's an intriguing possibility, but the lack of dialogue after all that had just transpired would make it almost pointless.
3) Tarkin. I know he is barely seen, but he is noticable.

Hahaha. Nice.

I think what we really need here is a Palpatine/Vader scene at the end of ANH in between when Luke lands and the awards ceremony. It would play out similarly to the Sidious/Dooku scene at the end of AotC, and cover the deaths of Kenobi and Tarkin, the destruction of the Death Star, and the pilot responsible-who was strong in the Force. Then the ESB conversation should be altered to fit with this new scene.

You know, if you like yours better, you could always just change III's to match yours, as all the footage is from the birth sequence. But come to think of it...Padme and Obi-Wan have lines in the dream that don't actually happen in the film. Hmmm.

Trooperman, after RotS I must ask, do you still plan on re-dubbing Anakin in THAT film? If you could try and keep your line readings in 2 as similar to Hayden as possibile then maybe Anakin having Hayden's voice in 3 can be attributed to his age. I just think Hayden gave a knockout performance in 3 and wouldn't want to lose it for anything.

It's exciting see that everyone's already hard at work on an Episode re-edit. You guys are awesome.

MagnoliaFan's looks once again to be the most extensive. I can't wait to see what he does with Qui-Gon; Jinn's my favorite Jedi and you have no idea how dissapointed I was by his absence in Episode 3, especially since he was SUPPOSED to be in it. But what's all this about Obi-Wan, ESB, and RotJ? Is it top-secret info for an OT re-edit? And how he handles Vader should be interesting to say the least.

Trooperman may have to re-think dubbing over Anakin in Episode 2 now; there's no way I'd want Hayden's performance erased in this one. It's going to be so great to see these drastically differenent takes on the prequels though.

My thoughts on Grevious:
He was a totally ridiculous, throw-away character, and IMO, the weakest part of the film. However, if things could be altered to make him Darth Maul, all would be forgiven. After much thought on the matter the best course of action would be to redub the three mentions of "Maul" by name in Episode 1 (all by Sidious) with "Grevious". He is now "Darth Grevious", and although I like "Maul" much better, "Grevious" is mentioned far too often to have things the other way around. Then Grevious can be re-dubbed in a Maul-esque voice, altering his lines to 1) Edit out the HORRIBLE villain cliche lines, and 2) Add references to him being Maul (defeated by Kenobi, waiting a long time for revenge, etc). There are still some serious logistics to be worked out on that, but I believe it is possible. How to tie in Sidious, Dooku, and Maul/Grevious all together for example, and Sidious' conversation w/Grevious will be quite a project. Another idea would be to make him Syfo-Dias, but I really have no suggestions on how to accomplish that.

And "A New Hope" isn't the original version anyway, so you're covered there too.

Which did you prefer, the SE or the 2004 DVD edition?
Time
The 2004 DVDs. The SEs seem like a half-completed work-in-progress, but then again, so do the DVDs, albeit 2/3 finished. ANH gets major points for finally correcting Vader's voice, and improving the lightsabers in the duel as well. In ESB, the HORRIBLE screaming Luke was removed, and although I was a bit underwhelmed by Ian's performance as the Emperor, at least Palpatine is no longer an old woman with monkey eyes. And in RotJ, the Rancor was at last correctly composited. The picture quality in all three films is unmatched.

For now I'll overlook stuff like the numerous new saber errors, the end celebration, and Hayden in hopes that those are on the list for the next third of corrections. If not, that's what fan edits are for.

That's a very fascinating idea, Jeten. I might try my hand at that sequence of events once I have the technology (hopefully by the end of the summer), just for the sake of seeing how it would flow. But for now I'm with Trooperman in NO Yoda saber dueling (in Episode 2 at least), although I'm all for Force Lightning.

Now let me bring up something that's been on my mind for a long time. Qui-Gon Jinn is my favorite Jedi. My friends actually give me a lot of grief because of it, His extremely brief presence in AotC was great in that we know he's still around in some capacity, but it's execution left a lot to be desired. "Anakin" was so obviously lifted from TPM, and was featured in the trailer no less. "No!" was a HORRIBLE Neeson impersonation, and sounded nothing like him. My idea is to, by use of Qui-Gon's dialogue in Clone Wars or Neeson from another film, alter the use of Qui-Gon's voice in Episode 2. Thoughts on that?

Has it Ever Occured...
Time
Adding more weight to the family thing, remember Vader senses Luke on Endor, but Palpatine doesn't.

"I have felt him, my master"
"Strange that I have not."

This may work both ways in regards to the Jedi not feeling Palpatine's darkness. And of course there's always Yoda's:

"Hard to seem, the Dark Side is."
"The Dark Side clouds everything."

That's really cool, Trooperman; didn't know you were such a music aficionado. I have a couple of friends who are music majors that would probably appreciate it a lot more than me, however. The Dooku/Seperatist theme was almost a theme, but not quite, so that's cool that you'll be fleshing it out. And that's a good point about it coming after the saga is finally complete; that should give you quite an advantage.

Some other thoughts on the edit:
-Rebel Scumb also inserted the music from RotJ when Luke first gets his lightsaber when the Jedi reveal themselves in the arena. I think that might really enhance the scene.
-And thinking about the lightsaber duel, maybe you could work it where Dooku force pushes Anakin across the room at the beginning? Just a thought, because I like Anakin's reckless charging at Dooku and paying *some* price for it.

And sorry I'm not able to help in any practical way, but I'll always be around as a creative consultant!
