CWBorne’s Prequel Treatment Omnibus Thread (Current Work: Revisions & Edits)
Time

Your ideas are outstanding.  I dont know how much i've wondered why the hell wasn't Beru Anakin's sister at least.  Why would Yoda and friends send Luke to live with the son and daughter in law of a man who happened to marry his grandmother.  Honestly, I think George must have been off his rocker writing the PT.  It could have been so much more believable as a tie-in to the OT.  It really pisses me off lol.  I vote for a kick starter, crowdfunded PT re-shoot.  Who's with me? :)

LD ( and other analog capture ) using external video processing?
Time

Thanks.  another question... Is there a search feature on the forum and I'm just too dense to see it? ;)

After reading through the post you linked to, I want to clarify, I'm actually talking about not just deinterlacing before capture, but converting to 720 or 1080/24p also prior to capture.  Looks like they are mainly discussing comb filters over there but I'll keep reading.

LD ( and other analog capture ) using external video processing?
Time

Anyone have any experience capturing LD and processing the signal on the way into the PC?  I ask because my main line experience has been owning a custom home theater design company since before the DVD days.  I've always employed external boxes, some ppl called them line doublers, to deinterlace, upscale, and process sources like LD and DVD to look good, relatively speaking, on large projection set ups.  i have on hand right now a Pioneer LD-S9 player, not the creme de la creme of LD imported players but a great player nevertheless.  Also have video processing from DVDO and Lumagen.  I'm going to do some testing soon using my LD-S9 and DVDO and Lumagen, looking for a good combo, into my MATROX MXO2 mini capture box.  I'll report my experience but would love to hear from anyone who has done similar.

cheers

THX WOW! HD 1080p Lucasfilm Demo Clip Reconstruction 5.1 & dts-HD 6.1 (Released)
Time

I just finished doing exactly this using the blurays.  Only issue aside from special edition changes is some scenes and colors not being exact representations of the theatrical releases of any of the films is the end sequence from Last a Crusade.  The credits begin to roll before the shot on the demo is set to end.  I working that out now.  I'll do another edit using Harmy's despecialized footage.  So far I have the 5.1 mix from the DVD release and I'm capturing the two channel from my laserdisc.  Honestly though, even with the special edition shots, it's really a great home theater demo.

Help Wanted: The Prequel Edit Problem - remove the music & sound effects without removing the dialogue...
Time

Signed up just to post this.  It's not the most elegant way but if you can find player (br or DVD) with multi channel out, you can have more success.  I know i had a br player with discrete outputs so I could get uncompressed audio in my home theater.  Aldo, i have a background in audio production and have a multi channel audio input board in my production setup.  It would be time consuming to say the least but if a multi-channel out were used, each of the five channels could be captured real-time and recorded on their own separate tracks.  The dialog channel is more often than not just dialog.  Hope this helps and if it's been covered already just forgive me for being too lazy to read all three pages.  I have a session coming up. Sorry!

cheers
