You wouldn't have to re-encode if you used a BD-50.

Harmy said:@Chewtobacca: I think it's the same one. I've had it here for quite some time.
That saves me a download then. Thanks.
Harmy, is the FLAC mono that you posted the same as the one that was posted on Usenet ages ago or has hairy_hen made changes to it?
In what form did Silverwook provide the recording? I take it from post #6 that it's his own recording.
Ha! You should start capping if anything interesting shows up. :D
I guess my perspective's different because I never watch a film on television these days. There's always a BD or DVD or some such.
Thanks, but I thought of that. It doesn't work either. At this point, I'm giving up with ColourLike() and ColourLikeFBF() for anything other than short clips. It's simply not worth spending any more time on this.
Thanks for all your help.
Spaced Ranger said:Keep in mind that stations can have unlimited play rights -- meaning they can broadcast an "older print/version" that they have after a newer print/version is released. So, the 1st version could be broadcasting while the 2nd version is being released on home video. -- Is that too weird an extrapolation?
It sounds plausible. I wish TV stations would do that more often nowadays.
Does anyone have any comments on the DTS-HD MA 5.1 on the BD of Forbidden Planet (1956)?
Darth Mallwalker said:So if I've understood correctly, in your case repair wasn't required-- only verify and unrar.
Yes.
I do believe the original par set is b0rken.
I believe you're right. It's a shame that I never thought to check when I had the files.
EDIT: By the way, I downloaded and repaired all sides of ROTJ without incident.
At some point, it might be prudent to gather all the original rips together and post them to usenet.
Darth Mallwalker, if althor's new pars don't solve the problem, PM me and I'll re-download side 4 and help you out. (By the way, forty incompletes is a high number. I had only four damaged files, and the rest were fine.)
It sounds fantastic, and I'm sure it will sound fantastic.
What have you tried? I used either Quickpar or Multipar – I forget which.
Failing that, let me know which parts you are having trouble with, and I'll see if I can help out.
I have successfully ruled out the hard drive's being the issue. It might be the length of the clips. I have no clips of comparable length to hand and don't fancy ripping two versions of a similar length film to my hard drive to test it out. I'm about ready to give up, to be honest.
Ditto! :)
I don't think throwing them in the same collection would be a problem. The pars should be able to find pick them up.
Darth Mallwalker said: Could it be that the RAR parts got corrupted AFTER the PARs were generated?
It could be, but in that case the pars would presumably be able to restore the corrupt rars to their original, uncorrupt condition.
That's perfect. Thanks. :)
Could someone tell me if this the correct way to apply the difference between two clips to a third?
a=Avisource()
b=Avisource()
c=Avisource()
RGBMatch(b,a,c)
Just checking...
I realize that, but I thought that if the header given to the MKV by MKVToolnix were the problem, Eac3to might do a better job.
Have you tried demuxing the iTunes file to MKV with Eac3to? I don't know if it will work because I've never tried demuxing an M4V, but it's worth a shot.
captainsolo said: I still need to see this. Can anybody suggest theatrical or Director's cut for a first viewing?
The theatrical cut is the director's preferred cut. Costner told Entertainment Weekly that he did not work on the long version. I would recommend the UK BD of the theatrical.
The damaged files are 5,8,85, and 99. There are sufficient pars, but any attempt to repair the archive fails.
AntcuFaalb said: Do `a' and `b' have the same number of frames? Are they both in the same color-space (RGB32)? Does a.info() and b.info() look more-or-less the same?
Yes. :)
Try experimenting with two different (shorter!) sources. Are you still experiencing the same problem?
No! I successfully rendered a short clip, so it might be the length, but I'm starting to wonder if it's the external drive from which I'm reading.
Thanks for the help so far.
The new BD of The Fog looks far better than the old one.
