The ending reveal in The Last Jedi was very easy to predict.

I think the topic title is interesting “the ending was very easy to predict.” Sure, all the clues were right out there in front of you to predict… but did you? I knew something was up the moment we saw him (the hair) but I wasn’t able to figure out what exactly until the film revealed itself. The closest I got was when Kylo finally sliced through him (my thought - did he die already and now he’s a force ghost?), but when the real trick was revealed it was definitely a “holy shit” moment. And of course that’s what it was, a magic trick, and like the best magic tricks it occurred in plain sight.

Maybe try experimenting a little with CRF encoding values instead of targeting a bitrate? Quality will be more consistent that way, but file sizes will vary some.

I can’t recommend a CRF value for h265 though, that’s out of my area of expertise. I’d suggest 18 for h264 with slower/slowest encoding settings, but I honestly have no idea how h265 behaves with encoding as I never really use it.

I think Luke’s mere presence (as well as Luke intentionally riling Ben up with little gestures like wiping the dust off his shoulder) has Ben seeing red. He’s not thinking rationally, which is the same reason why he ignores Hux’s tactical advice. Luke used Kylo’s own emotions to his advantage.

Yep, exactly this.

Up until the lightsaber I honestly just thought that Luke cleaned himself up and came through the back door.

Yep, this. I knew something was up when the lightsaber came out, but I didn’t know what, and when the “what” was revealed I let out an internal “Holy shit.”

So no, I don’t think it was easy to predict.

Who suggested the two films objectively clash with each other, or suggested that anyone who disagrees is doing so in bad faith?

The post that started this round of debate, maybe? At least, that’s 100% the read I had on it:

I applaud that article writer for acknowledging the obviousness of Abrams & Johnson’s clashing ideas, rather than trying to rationalize it away

Does anyone have any ideas for an alternate, non-gungan way to reveal Amidala’s queenship before this scene?

You mean instead of the shot of the ship landing (The one in the clip you just posted)? So, like just showing it parked in the forest or something?

No, the reveal that Padme is the Queen and not just a handmaiden.

Muxing 4K83 issue
Time

Yep, that’s pretty much it. Isolate the video stream out into its own file (“demux” it), then use this new video-only file to create the ISO, while adding all the audio/subtitle tracks and chapters from the MKV back in (which is why you deselect the video track from the MKV).

I’m not guaranteeing this will work, but I do remember it being a workaround people on the 4K77/83 forums were using when tsmuxer didn’t play nice with the MKV as is.

You’re using tsmuxer to make your BD ISO, right? Use the same program to demux - check only the video stream, then select the “demux” option instead of the “Blu-Ray ISO” option before you run the operation.

When it’s done, close tsmuxer, then reopen it. Open the .264 file you created in the previous step, then open the MKV, uncheck the video stream from the MKV, and proceed as before, though you’re pretending now that the .264 file you opened first is the video track from the MKV file (which it is, really, but something about it as contained within the MKV file isn’t playing nice).

How to extract scenes from the 4K.. series video files?
Time

No problem! I didn’t actually do anything in the aspect ratio area at all, that’s just what it looks like on mine (likely just because I have the video track selected in my screenshot; that area would probably be grayed out if you don’t have any tracks, or a non-video track, selected). Your external may have just disconnected briefly at some point during the process which caused it to fail, that’s happened to me in the past. Damn cats…

SRT is just text and timings. It includes no other information - font, color, drop shadow, size, etc. are all determined by the player you’re using.

SUP is the Blu-Ray subtitle format if I remember correctly. It’s not text - it’s images. So the font, size, position, drop shadows, color, etc. is all embedded in the subtitle file itself and can’t be changed (except maybe size and/or position) by your player.

Otherwise, yeah, they should both be used in the same way. If you’re authoring a Blu-Ray with subtitles, definitely use the SUPs since the SRT files will have to be converted by the software to SUP anyway.
