Yeah, I assumed, but I also know what it’s like to accidentally overlook something like that and not notice until after you’ve released the thing, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to mention it.
You probably already know and took care of this since you were very thorough when talking about your last version before using Hal’s work as a source, but just a quick reminder since you didn’t mention it in your post - the Wampa scene and the Emperor scene also require a different source than Hal’s custom SE.
TROS poster isn’t really teal and orange, though. The TFA poster is way more guilty of that.
Possible small fixes are:

Fix: Possibly cutting to Lukes face as he looks over and removing her shout out as if to say follow me now.@ 1:13:10 - Rey vs Luke
Issue: As Rey fells Luke and holds his sabre over him the jedi master looks up helplessly.
Fix: By cutting to Rey unigniting the sabre strait after Luke holds himself with the force from the fall we can remove the initial shocked expression which helps play out the my mind is not in the fight viewpoint.
I completely and utterly fail to understand why either of these things are “issues” …

He just recently released a v2.0 of the HDTV versions, and has said he intends to release a v2.0 of his theatrical ROTS using the updated video once he finishes with some tweaks to the audio.
Season 2 slows down a bit, but is necessary to set up for what comes after. Many consider season 2 to be the weakest season, but I think that came from week to week watching and it would play better in binge format.
Just thought I’d give you a heads up - don’t drop it in S2 if you think it got lost in the weeds, because I promise you it didn’t.
Here’s my current mockup for TROS - if anyone has leads on solid fan-made logos, please send 'em my way. I’ll probably try to whip some up eventually but after doing a clean install of Windows recently I may have lost all of my fonts, so I’ll have to dig through my backup HDD’s (this is also why none of the back text is different than the TLJ cover on this one and why I haven’t made my “saga spine” version yet):
It’s way better than any of the TFA ones and the standard TLJ one, for sure, though I still think the TLJ Dolby Cinema one is the best (if we’re not counting TLJ’s teaser poster).

All this is EU crap. That line makes Vader seem weak and with no agency in the movie. It’s why Vader kinda sucks in ROTJ compared to ANH/ESB, at least until he brings Luke to the Emperor.
I’ve been experimenting with trimming “I must obey my master!” while also incorporating Sir Ridley’s “Your mother once thought as you do” (albeit slowed-down). What prevented me from deleting “You don’t know the power of the Dark Side” was both Vader’s turn and making sure that Luke’s follow-up line made sense. The edit is a bit rough, but I’m sure Ady can do better working in the 5.1 mix.
The “I must obey my master!” line you deleted is very important. It tells the audience Vader’s relation to the Emperor, as it tells a lot about the Sith master-apprentice relationship.
Deleting it is a huge mistake.

For those requesting PMs, I should mention that the latest encode is still the June 21st encode, so it doesn’t have the recent Phasma change (which is currently the only change since). Work is very busy now, so I won’t be able to make a new encode for a little bit.
I think it’d be worth holding off on releasing a new encode until December at the earliest, not just for the Phasma corpse addition, so you can push a major update before TROS but still have time to incorporate not just the Phasma corpse, but any other additions (like a slight Canto Bight extension) that you’ll have time to implement over the next month and a half or so.

Even in the canon EU version of events between ANH and ESB, it’s clear that Vader understands exactly who Luke is once he learns his name, and adding the lines to the Emperor scene in ESB just muddle things and make the viewer have to do some mental gymnastics for the scene to work, where the original dialogue worked just fine for 34 years and there was literally zero reason to change any of the lines or add any new ones.
When they don’t even bother writing up some backstory in the new EU to make those new lines work, you know it’s clear to everyone involved that the new lines were a mistake.
He may even have a regrade without his customizations. He is collaborating with Dre on an ESB regrade.
Yes, that was for his custom ESB. I don’t believe he has a version without his customizations rendered out, I’m pretty sure applying the color LUTs was the last thing he did before rendering the final version out.
There’s not that much that would need to be changed video wise, though - you’d need to use the BR or HDTV version of the Wampa scene, the shot(s?) of the window on Cloud City, and Vader’s shuttle ride, and Despecialized for the Emperor hologram, which you’d have to do anyway. Plus, of course, all the other 1997 reversions that are already a part of this project.
Yeah, Hal’s v1 of his custom SE used Ady’s 97 ESB (same as this), but for his v2 he switched to a regraded Blu-Ray. The 1080p encode of his v2 is very high quality, almost certainly good enough to use as a source.
As long as you remember to swap out the couple bits of ESB Revisited and a few other things, Hal’s custom ESB SE would probably be a good source to work from for more accurate color.
Weren’t these ESB and ROTJ 1997 preservations meant to be accompaniments to Harmy’s existing ANH 1997 preservation?
FYI, apparently Metal Gear Solid 4 is now fully playable on PC via “a special fork of RPCS3” for those interested in playing it who don’t own a PS3.
That’s a good proof of concept. The trickiest part of the video seems to be erasing the Dagobah that shows through Obi-Wan’s transparency, and the audio is probably the key to selling the whole thing.
