STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

It's times like this that I wish I had more than $10 in my bank account. Fucking college. Rest assured, when I have the funds, I'll gladly donate again. :-)

And I honestly didn't think you had so much of the film done already, Ady - I'm quite pleasantly surprised. You work much more quickly than I do, for sure!

What can Be done to save the real original star wars trilogy from 1977-1983?
Time

Awful color timing made them more apparent. Then when the GOUT came out, even though they were much less apparent (depending on what type of TV you're watching them on), they still stuck out like a sore thumb because many noticed them for the first time on the 04 DVDs.

It's like the white arrow inside the "Ex" in the "FedEx" logo - once you notice it, you can't un-notice it.

I have an excuse - I live in Chicago. :-)

--edit--

For some reason when I first read your comment I saw it as being sarcastic, then replied. Then after I replied, I read it again and thought it quite possible that I was wrong and that you were just glad to meet another Bears fan on the forums.

Sorry for misconstruing what you said (either way, I got it wrong at one point).

The garbage mattes should not be fixed - they were there in 1977, so "fixing" them is just another alteration. A film is a snapshot of the time in which it was made, and effects flaws are a part of that. I really wish the Raiders of the Lost Ark DVD had kept the cobra reflection, too.

I seem to be in the minority as far as this idea goes, though.

Who is Ignoring You, and Who are You Ignoring? (was: Who is Ignoring You? (was: Hello all, I'm back!))
Time

Welcome back, Warb! Honestly, I don't even remember what happened, or if I knew at the time, but I do know I have no personal quarrel with you, and it's nice to see an new (old) face around here.

And yeah, as C3PX said, I'm not sure what's happened to the Off-Topic section of the forums, but there are still a few people who pop in now and again.

Well these movies are never going to look brand new. Ever. Because they were filmed in the 1970s and early 1980s. And sticking CG shots in that don't match either the film stock or photographic style achieves very little. "Dark and dull visuals" indeed.

Hear, hear!

I'd take a space battle that looks like the ROTS one than the ROTJ one any day.

Seriously? I thought the ROTS battle looked like an ADD video game with no real focus. In other words, it looked kinda pretty, but was boring. The only problem with the ROTJ battle is exactly what Bingowings said - we need to care about more pilots than just Lando and Wedge. Even though the SW and ESB pilots weren't in the rest of their respective movies, they were given enough attention and screen time that they at least felt like real characters, and you cared when they died.

Aside from Wedge and Lando, I don't think we saw any of the ROTJ pilots in more than one shot each. This needs to be rectified somehow.

All special effects done in the PT are better than the OT. Not the CG, but special effects.

I don't think there's a "special effect" in the PT that wasn't done using CGI. That Force Lightning is no exception.

And I much prefer the original effect, as well. It'd be a shame to see this replaced by the far inferior ROTS "lightning."

Perhaps if the ROTS-style lightning was a bit closer to the original blue color, it'd look better?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - The Enhanced ABC Cut (Released)
Time

I wasn't trying to rain on your parade or anything, I only just learned about the extended cuts (and I still can't find out if the first film's EE will be released in Canada as Philosopher's Stone or not, as I'm waiting for that to dive into Blu-Ray HP) on DVD and thought of this thread.

I myself would be quite interested in an XviD of this - I think some of the deleted scenes could really add to the film (though I've never actually seen any EE of any HP film).

All these points make perfect sense, but I just don't see how "Luke" can be added back in with McDiarmid's voice and not sound like shit. Because - and no offense at all to Jaitea, you did a great job with what you had - adding "Luke" from the Musical Journey or whatever just sounds so out of place and awful. Unless the "Luke" could be extended slightly and made to sound like the Emperor and not McDiarmid's normal voice, I don't see how it's even a possibility.

Young Skywalker is fine - it's a compromise, yes, but it's what we have to work with, and it's better than the Jedi-inconsistent Clive Revill/monkey-lady Emperor.

The Phantom Menace -Theatrical Version - NTSC DVD- ADYWAN - NOW AVAILABLE
Time

I just got rid of the Windows partition on my Mac in anticipation for Windows 7 (a buddy of mine at school got 3 installs of Windows 7 Professional through the interactive media program, and he's giving me one of the installs), so I can't do anything with it now (I don't know how to do it on a Mac, sadly).

But as soon as he gets back to Chicago, I'll get W7 installed and give the fix a try.

Sadly, I don't have access to a 5.1 setup here - I'll have to wait until I go back home (next weekend) to try it out for real.
