Nice try, Janskeet.

Nice try, Janskeet.
Mumford & Sons are fantastic. Sort of like Fleet Foxes, but with less harmonies, and better lyrics.
<-- Me eating a delicious sammitch.
Um ... how about just not having it in the movie at all? I like that idea.

It was a timecoded copy, simply meant so all the members could tell each other exactly what they were working on down to each frame. It was just a reference, it wasn't the actual video they were working with. I believe it was made from the video they were working with, but it was much lower quality since it was just meant to be a timecode copy.
Ahh... gotcha. How much lower is it? Despite its lower quality, would it still have been better than most laserdisc preservations or the GOUT?
Probably not. Besides, every frame has timecode burned into it, so unless you like watching digital workprint, I don't see how the timecode copy is useful in any way.

Does this line make sense to you
A visual record has being taken and sent to...
...the terminal of our Biology DepartmentWere computers in the 70's called "terminal" also in English? As I said, I'm trying to stick to the original Italian wording as much as possible.
My original version was "A visual record has been taken and send to our Biology Department" (more plain and simple) but if I have to stick to the Italian version, the first line I posted is practically what they say.

Another question for you English speakers is this: which version of this catchfrase is better "Only in equality one finds happiness" or "Only in equality, happiness is to be found"? (literal translation from Italian would be the second but literal translations are not always correct)
I'd go with "Only in equality is happiness to be found."
The separation masters could be used to make a very good looking Blu-Ray. Not quite as good as going back to o-neg would, of course, but you'd be surprised at how few Blu-Ray releases actually do go back to o-neg. Most are transferred from interpositives.
No one would have cared about the workprint version, though. Nobody expected it to be released until it was announced.
But if they'd left out the theatrical cut, people would have bitched, most definitely.

Well, when I say inherent to the GOUT, I mean the master used to make the GOUT. So the Definitive Collection and "Faces" laserdiscs have the smearing, too.
And the 1977 crawl on the GOUT DVD was transferred separately from the rest, so it - and, by extension, the first shot - looks substantially nicer than the rest of the film.
The Matrix.
It was the first time I'd seen the Blu-Ray color timing. And I hate to admit it ... but I like it better.
The "ghosting" you see is inherent to the GOUT - it's a byproduct of the DVNR used at the time the transfer was made.
So, everyone here is watching Fringe on Fridays at 9PM Eastern/8PM Central, right? We need the ratings so we can get a fourth season, and the producers have strongly implied that this season ends on a cliffhanger!
Spam link, do not click. Moth3r, if you could ban this asshole, that would be awesome. He's doing this all over the place.
How do I check the layer break position? My DVD player has never skipped/paused at a layer break, it's always been 100% seamless (it's the only player I've ever used that doesn't stutter at the layer break on the old Matrix DVD).
Frink's a mod?! Whoa. Maybe I should pop by FE.Org again. Haven't been there in quite a long time.
If they're in the same audio channel, no. If you're lucky and have a 5.1 mix where all dialogue is isolated in the center channel, and no sound effects bleed into it (and no dialogue bleeds into the other channels), then it's possible.
The reason is that the director of the film (Into the Void) has said that he would prefer for viewers to see his film at 25fps instead of 24, but all Blu-Ray releases are at 23.976. I haven't seen the film, but I would like to, and I'd like to see it the way the director intended for me to see it. That, and it makes the movie about 6-8 minutes shorter, and from what I hear of this movie, it's already too long.
Plus it gives me an excuse to test out my roommate's projector's capabilities, which can apparently display NTSC or PAL at the intended framerate.
I'll try out your method, but I'd really like to keep the DTS encoding if at all possible.
Sounds very sensible to me. Lucas could learn a thing or two from your attitude!
To be fair, he does work in the industry, which paints a much bigger target on his back than someone like, say, Adywan, who doesn't.

I'm going to respectfully table the crawl suggestions conversation. I think I've got it where I need it, and I don't want to over-analyze it.
Fair enough.
I hope you don't think we're trying to take over your edit, Spence - I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we just want this to be the best Return of the Jedi it can be, and as insignificant as the crawl may seem, it's the first thing anyone will ever see of your edit, and it needs to grab them and make them want to continue watching. I don't know how many times I've downloaded a Star Wars fan edit, popped it in, and been immediately disillusioned when the half-assed replacement crawl comes up. I just don't want that to happen with this edit, since it seems so very promising.
Anyway, that's the last I'll say on the subject of the crawl.
US or International? Not that it matters much, the only difference is the uncensored violence in the International cut.
Still, I'm curious.
