Well, turns out we did hire someone, like, the next day, so I’ve been training him for nights ever since.

He walked out halfway through his shift tonight.

Fuck people.

Basically what I’m saying is, you don’t know if the people you’re talking to are going to be in the 1% of people that aren’t terrible until you’ve wasted a lot of time on them. Even then, people change on a dime later on so you can still be tricked.

Yeah, can’t really disagree with you there. I feel like I tend to be a good judge of character most of the time, so I can tell pretty early on if someone’s a piece of shit, but I’m not always right. Investing a lot of time into someone only for them to turn out to not be worth it is rough.

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

I thought I remembered hearing that the Porgs were designed to look similar to the native birds of Skellig Michael so they wouldn’t have to go through every shot and paint out the birds.

Which would (if true) mean that they weren’t created for merchandising purposes as many are claiming, though they were certainly designed to be cute so they could be turned into a merchandising opportunity.

Anyone know if I’m remembering this correctly? I’m at work and slightly busy at the moment so I can’t try and Google for an answer for a while.

Star Wars Trilogy SE bluray color regrade (a WIP)

Nice job! I’d be interested in seeing the (or close to) original colour grading applied to the new footage - just to see if the new scenes look more convincingly intergrated with the original 1976 Footage.

Check out Neverar’s Technicolor restoration of the ANH Blu-Ray. He rolled back some of the BR changes so it’s essentially the 2004 version now (no rocks in front of R2, for instance), but it contains all of the 1997/04 CGI changes with 1977 Technicolor grading applied.

I haven’t checked it out yet myself (waiting for V2 with the lightsaber effects replaced with the 1977 effects), but the screenshots look impressive.

Info: Films re-released with alterations

Should color timing differences be included? I feel like that would include every modern reissue of a catalog title at this point, and for most all we have to go on is old video masters anyway, with no way of knowing if those old masters were accurate either.

I feel like the list should only include content changes, not different color timing or other too-nebulous-to-properly-codify things.
