We have a the first color Doctor Who TV story in proper HD, but not Star Wars.
JEDIT: Not saying that DW story is unworthy of the HD treatment, mind you, it’s just kind of mind-boggling when you consider that we don’t (and can’t) even have proper standard def copies of many of the episodes that surround it.
The term “Mary Sue” is a misogynistic term, no matter how much you want to pussy foot around it by saying its used for men too. Because it isn’t anywhere near as often as it is towards a female character. . It was used against Rey for the sole fact that she was female by all those idiots that saw her as nothing more than the “Disney agenda” of giving females a strong role. Same crap was thrown at the main character of Rogue One. The second someone uses the term “Mary sue” invalidates any argument.

So…we all agree that AOTC is the absolute worst then, right? That’s what I’m getting out of this.
They’re little red kiosks at supermarkets or drugstores where you can rent a movie or game for a couple bucks a day (it charges your card every day until you return it). They’re usually pretty convenient and carry Blu-Rays, too.
I hate when people expect everyone to automatically like their stupid and unlikable girl- or boyfriends.

Unless you’re including the Holiday Special. Or maybe the 2008 TCW movie, but even that is better than AOTC for me.
No, I tried to rent a PS4 copy from a Redbox kiosk and got a piece of paper in the case with a scan of the disc printed onto it.
I will never purchase this game, unless I get it used for like $10. EA is getting no money from me for it - I justified Redbox since a $3 rental can’t get them more than a buck or two and I wouldn’t be spending any money on microtransactions.
Not yet, I might still do that. I was already having a shitty night so when that happened I just said fuck everything and went home to drink.
I tried to Redbox it for the campaign after hearing how short it was. I got a piece of paper with a Xerox of the disc printed on it. Couldn’t find a way to report it stolen, so I reported it as an unplayable disc, put the piece of paper back in the sleeve and returned it to the kiosk, and…got a credit for a free rental rather than a refund.
If they try to blame and charge me for the stolen disc I’m gonna be fucking pissed.

So what is the best way to capture Hulu video? Do you have to do a capture over HDMI or is there software to rip the stream itself? If it’s the latter and someone can point me in the right direction as far as capturing/ripping/downloading software goes, I’ll get myself a Hulu subscription and get these over Thanksgiving while I’m at my grandma’s with decent wifi.
Then I’ll probably rip my Blu-Rays of movies 3 and 4 and do a high-quality reconstruction of episodes 9-16 - too bad movies 1 and 2 are only out on DVD…
Eh, I guess I could’ve done that, but the mobile hotspot seemed like a better idea than getting a separate phone just to use as a hotspot.
Though the unlimited data (which you can’t get with the hotspot, 7GB is the max amount of data you can buy at a time) would’ve been a nice perk.
Doesn’t matter, at my apartment complex I have to go through their ISP. I have to move before I have any other options.
Related: I just spent $125 on a Straight Talk mobile hotspot and 7GB of data for it because I’m sick and fucking tired of my apartment complex not fixing our internet (which I mercifully haven’t been asked to pay for in months).
Can’t wait until my lease is up so I can move somewhere where I have the option of going with Comcast or AT&T or whoever else services my area instead of being stuck with the leasing company’s private ISP…
JEDIT: Oh, and in 2 days I’ve already used 3GB of the 7GB plan I paid for…ugh. Better than going over on mobile data on my family Verizon plan and having to explain to my mom why the bill jumped up $30 at the end of the month, I guess.
Oh, that’s good info! It’s not quite detailed enough to do a proper reconstruction using the DVDs/Blu-Rays, unfortunately, and there are quite a few TV-cut-only shots that would require a capture of the Hulu versions, but it might be a good reference to make sure the Hulu versions are the initial broadcast cuts and not, for instance, syndication cuts that are even shorter than the original broadcast cuts.
Having said all that, I think Whittaker’s costume is a little bland for me, but there’s a big difference between promo pictures and seeing it in action - just look at how Capaldi’s costume(s) turned out during his run compared to the reveal promos.
It looked the same as the promos(when he was actually wearing the costume seen in the promos).
That’s what I mean - he very rarely wore the “full” costume as seen in the promos. It’s entirely possible that Whittaker’s Doctor won’t wear the “full” costume all the time, either, and that her alternates might look better than her primary.
Eh, costumes for the Doctor generally trend toward “silly.” I mean, look at Tom Baker’s mile-long scarf, Peter Davison’s decorative celery and cricket outfit, Colin Baker’s…everything, Sylvester McCoy’s umbrella and question mark sweater-vest, et cetera.
Granted, new series Doctors have been a bit less “silly” (unless you consider Matt Smith’s tweed, suspenders, and bow tie silly) outside of Capaldi’s frequent hoodie and frock coat combination, and even that was a bit understated compared to, say, Jon Pertwee’s frills and velvet.

Haha, I saw those “ugly sweater covers” myself today. Sometimes the holiday season brings some nifty “limited time” sets, sometimes it brings some hideous ones. These are kind of in the middle for me, in that the novelty is amusing, but they’ll look dumb a month or so after Christmas, with some exceptions (something like Christmas Vacation or Home Alone, for instance).
I saw this Godfather set today, too, which bugs me simply because the logo is wrong - the bar on top of the “G” doesn’t come as close to the “D” as it should. The art itself is alright, but the incorrect logo really grinds my gears. (The first DVD set that came out back in the day had the same problem for some reason.)

I will say I do agree with all what Chainsawash has said on his previous posts. I appreciate you want the air time for Saw, but it would be better to take out those scenes … especially the Gullett scene…

Yeah, and it seems there’s no redemption with the Bor Gullet scene. The next cut I’ll probably remove those scenes, and if people are willing to watch the first 20-30 minutes, see how it flows.
Count me in to check out the first act after cutting those scenes. If it works and you decide to go that route, this honestly might negate the need for me to do my own edit of RO when I get my new PC built around tax time! (More time for me to finally finish my Hobbit 3-in-1, I guess!)
I’d love that Dolby poster without the logo as well. Really hoping a giant official textless version of that is released like they did with the main poster…
True, but wouldn’t a Hulu capture be a better source if it is the TV edits of the movies than SyFy, which would have station logos and ads plastered all over the screen the whole time?
