The Last Jedi: The De-Feminized Fanedit

The purple hair is a blatant ignoring of the rules of the Star Wars universe that Lucas has carefully crafted over the course of 35 years.

Think about it. Lucas threw all sorts of weird stuff at us, including spherical space stations, green aliens with horns, 10ft tall slugs, 1000 degree swords and dozens of alien planets, but he never, EVER shoved humans with weird hair colors down our throats.

The Last Jedi payed homage to so many parts of Lucas’ original work, but they completely ruined it by having this one character with a very outstanding characteristic in marked contrast with everything else the series ever had up until then. That was for me the primary reason this character had to go completely. It had nothing to do with her gender, or the fact she didn’t tell Poe the plan (although that was pretty stupid). If she hadn’t had purple hair, I probably would have allowed her to stay in the film with her lightspeed suicide.

Okay, nevermind, you completely fucking lost me there. So no one in the SW universe is allowed to use hair dye? Really?

kk650, any chance of a distribution by the_magicman of your V2 Once Upon A Time in America regrade, just lost it in a hard drive crash and now only have V1 which is’nt as good. V2 has’nt been available anywhere since the paradoxial place went down unlike most of your other older re-grades.

Thanking you in advance.

I’ll second the request for this one, I had the tehparadox links bookmarked for when I had data cap space to burn and the site died before I got the chance to grab it…

Hmmm…I’m gonna say that cutting “admiral purple-hair” and calling your edit the “Gender Equalized Cut” does not sound fairly reasonable.

“Admiral purple-hair” isn’t that bad if you just can’t remember her name, it’s a pretty defining characteristic of her character, and at the time he hadn’t made his new thread with that title for the edit.

Having trouble converting Hal9000's 1080p MKV's to Bluray

Well, that’ll lose quality no matter what, and you’ll need to be sure it keeps Blu-Ray conformity. I think I usually use meGUI for that, but I’m always encoding from a lossless AVI file, never from h264 to slightly smaller h264. Some other members here would probably be more help than myself on that front.

Did over burning not work? I figured at worst you’d lose some of the end credits that way…

Fair enough. To me version 1 was a good proof of concept, but not perfect. Version 2 is essentially perfect to the point where it’s replaced the official release on my media player’s hard drive (which isn’t the case for any other fan edit - they rest all sit comfortably next to the official release…yes, even the prequels…).

That might be the DTS file being too large and/or high bitrate, as I doubt HAL considered that when making the video stream. Earlier versions would only work with one of the AC3 tracks for Cloak of Deceptions, but not both. It’s possible that a single DTS track pushes it just over the BD25 limit. =/

I suppose I could provide ~700Kbps DTS tracks as an alternative to the ~1500Kbps one, but I don’t know that that would be much of an improvement over the 640Kbps AC3.
