I donated blood today and of course the survey thing said “do not continue if you are a male and have had sexual contact with another male in the last year” and, virgin that I am, I haven’t, but what kind of rule is that and what would happen if I did lie to them?
It’s because statistically there’s a higher risk of STDs, especially HIV, or at least that was the case 20-30 years ago.
Nothing would happen if you lie. They’ll test for all the different diseases anyway.
Actually, I’m no longer allowed to donate to the Red Cross because one of mine came back “inconclusive” for HIV. Doesn’t matter how many negative tests I’ve had since then (several), that one “inconclusive” disqualifies me from donating forever. Fucking stupid.
