Not to threadcrap, but most of what is being attempted here has already been done by a number of people over on the Yahoo Bladerunner Soundtrack group.
No it hasn't.
Firstly, I am a member of the Yahoo group. I have complete respect for it, it's members, and anyone else that considers themselves Blade Runner and Vangelis fans. The group shares and talks about commonly available tracks from the soundtrack, sources from the bootlegs, and the official releases. What you are referring to are a few members of that group, some of whom have made what are simply "fan edits". These edits contain less material then is available and are solely the point of view that person. The tracks consist of some music ported over from bootlegs and official releases. They contain additional sound effects (added by the editor in edition to the already existing ones from the bootlegs) and clips from the film mixed in, not to mention music on the wrong speed. None are complete by any standard. None contain any new material. And none are preservations which this is. If such a collection already existed I would I would rejoice at the fact, as other fans would. To my knowledge NO such collection exists. Beyond that, I don't think there's any point of addressing it further.
Secondly, this thread is about THIS collection. A collection that I am calling "Blade Runner: The Complete Collection". As I've said before the goal of this project is to release the most complete collection of the music as is possible. Using official, and unofficial (bootlegs and such) sources, as well as some sources of my own.
The Blade Runner music does not belong to a "Blade Runner music group" , or groups, or Vagnelis group, or groups, or anyone that considers themselves an elite fan. This music belongs to ALL Blade Runner and Vangelis fans. For ALL fans to enjoy, reflect on, and even perhaps be inspired by. This music does not belong to the smoky back rooms of over-priced rip-off bootlegs, or even to elite and exclusive chat rooms, music groups, and fan clubs. Or myself.
In the end, this is the music of Vangelis. It is only my wish to present his music as best as I possibly can, my sole intention to preserve and amplify that which he has created.
I do so with great love and respect for the composer and his work.
