Like I already said, the clip is really nice. There is one thing that surprised me, I always thought, that Luke's POV shot where he falls into the swamp needed some more impact. Here's a rough mock-up of what I mean:

Sorry to come up with this now and it wouldn't bother me if it stayed the way it is in the clip. Just thought I'd point it out :-)

Harmy, this looks really good! Whether or not Ady goes for it, it's a really good idea.

Is it just me or is there some strobing near the end of the crawl?

Lord Grievous, I'm seeing that same strobing at the end, as well. I'm also seeing a bit in the beginning:

However, I'm inclined to think that it's probably just my computer and not the video itself. Aside from that, I think the crawl looks AMAZING! Very sharp and clean! =)

To tell the truth, I never liked the look of "the cave" in ESB. I didn't like that it looked like some sort of hidden or long buried structure. It should have just been a cave, nothing more.

I see Luke coming into the cave and then being met by fog. After a few moments, Vader appears out of the fog.

That's how I would've done it if I was the director. Vader is merely a manifestation of Luke's mind since obviously he is not there. Luke is surprised/shocked to see Vader, but we all know he shouldn' be since he saw exactly what he wanted to see. Making it look more in line with what I would would call a "dream-like" sequence would have been a better choice for Lucas/Kersh in my opinion.

You acknowledge that Vader is merely a manifestation of Luke's mind, so why can't the "structure" around him be a part of this manifestation, as well? I mean, that's how I've always thought of it. You say that it should be just a cave, nothing more, and I agree completely! The difference, though, is that I think it IS just a cave--a cave that's strong with the dark side of the Force. Given the negative energy swirling within it, maybe its appearance changes depending on who enters it. Think of boggarts from Harry Potter--it's the same general concept.

Don't remember if this has been addressed already and bla bla bla.

Opening crawl reads:

"Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker has established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth."

But we never see him lead now do we? Sure, he's commanding Rogue Group during the Battle of Hoth - but that's on a mere tactical level.

Furthermore, while the Rebels regroup, he leaves for Dagobah on a strict personal errand for who knows how long. This is surely not the actions of someone who is part of strategic command.

Now, the one who's actually operating within the Rebel command center making strategic decisions (along with General Rieekan) is in fact Leia Organa. She's also the one giving the pre-battle briefing as well as the last post-battle orders. And contrary to Luke, her being separated from the Rebels regroup is not by personal choice.

Thus, the crawl should read:

"Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Leia Organa has established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth."

BUT, since the following passage reads: "The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker", we have to establish Luke's name somewhere in the crawl:

"Although the Death Star has been destroyed by Luke Skywalker, Imperial troops have driven" etc etc, and Bob's your uncle.

Just a thought and bla bla bla ;-)

I really like this idea, steamboy, but I doubt Ady will go for it.

That looks really nice, almareon! I especially like how you incorporated that logo! I think that the lamba shuttle may be a bit too huge and prominent, though--maybe consider downsizing? And I like how you toyed with the saturation to make it less colorful, but I think you may have gone just the slightest bit too far. Just my suggestions, of course--feel free to ignore them! Either way, it looks really good. =)

The audio is a temp track, right? Often the end of some of the Emperor's lines end slightly after the mouth stops moving.

As has been repeated ad infinitum recently...yes it is.

But even if it stays this way in the final edit, just think of it as being a slight delay in the 'hologram's audio signal...

That's actually a pretty brilliant way to think of it, ImperialFighter! Nice!

If everyone is so concerned about restoring the mention of Luke's full name, it might be worth trying to contact this guy. He does amazing impressions, and Palpatine is one of his specialties. There are a bunch of clips of him doing Palpatine impressions... here are just a couple of them:

Captain Antilies, if you had to watch on DVD on your HD projector, (*cringe* - there are HD options you know) you should have shown your sister Ady's theatrical reconstruction

Harmy, you are completely right. I should have.

So like I said, my sister is eager to continue on with Star Wars... she wants to watch all six films. What should I do? I'm almost embarrassed to have her see the PT. Are there any really good fan edits of TPM out there that you guys would recommend? I've seen a few, but the editing has always seemed choppy and unprofessional. As for episodes II and III, I've seen a few good edits that are surprisingly watchable.

To bring the discussion back to ESB... this has probably been discussed before, but I noticed that James Earl Jones was not listed in the original end credits of ESB, but was added in for the SE. For some reason (which I really can't imagine) he was then taken out again for the 2004 DVD release. Along the same lines, Clive Revill is still listed as portraying the Emperor even though he's been replaced by Ian McDiarmid. Ady, are you planning on rectifying this? Just wondering.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I recently sat down to watch ANH:R with my fourteen-year-old sister for the first time. We have something of a home theatre at my house—an HD projector complete with a 109" screen and 7.1 surround sound. Adywan's work looked absolutely amazing on the big screen, though it reminded me to ask something that I've wondered about for quite a while. I haven't seen it addressed at length anywhere in the forums, but I apologize if this has already been discussed elsewhere. No matter how much I tinkered with the audio settings, I couldn't help but feel that it sounded sort of tinny and hollow in a way. I'm not an editor myself and don't really understand much of the processes behind it, but I've noticed that fan edits in general (even those that look amazing) rarely sound as good as one would hope. In the case of Adywan's edit, however, I notice that it only sounds tinny when I play it on the surround system. In fact, it sounds completely fine when played on my computer and television. I was just wondering if this is something that will still be present in ESB:R and/or the HD version of ANH:R.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Hey, guys! A couple of things:

Although I’m a huge Star Wars fan myself, my fourteen-year-old little sister had never seen any of the films before last week. Each time I introduce someone new to the Star Wars universe, I struggle with the decision of whether to start them off with the OT or the PT (or even whether I should show them the PT at all). Anyway, I decided to start at what I consider to be the true beginning, and the two of us recently sat down to watch A New Hope (Revisited, of course). To my surprise, my sister absolutely loved it and was eager to continue with the saga. At first I considered making her wait until Adywan had released ESB:R, but she was just so insistent that I gave in and popped in the 2004 DVD. While watching, I noticed a couple of things that I don’t think have been brought up here before.

First of all, I noticed that when R2 is leaning back to observe the X-Wing being guided back onto land from the swamp, there is a light just below his dome that I’m not sure should be there. As he leans back, it seems to "blink" and disappear and then reappear again. I can’t tell if it’s just a sliver of light leaking from inside the “costume” or if it’s a reflection from the camera or something. Either way, I don’t think it belongs. What do you all think?

Second, I noticed some time ago that just after Lando reveals his plan to escape from the Imperials at Cloud City, one of Leia's lines was cut out from the Special Edition and 2004 DVD. In the original release, Leia says “Do you think that after what you did to Han that we’re going to trust you?” In ’97 SE and afterward, however, all we can hear her say is “Do you think that after what you did to Han” before Chewie growls (quite loudly) and cuts her off. This has actually bothered me ever since I saw the SE in the theater for the first time. Ady, is there any chance of restoring the original dialogue here?

I have two beefs with the PT music. The first is the lack of tight system of leitmotif — yes, there is an "Anakin's Theme" and "Qui-Gon's Theme" and all, but apart from "Across the Stars" they're not used the way his leitmotifs are used in the OT.

The other is the distinct lack of the main fanfare outside of the opening crawl. It's used in maybe one action scene in TPM and at the very end of ROTS.

I agree. The main theme doesn't show up nearly enough, although I can think of at least a few other instances in which it does, in fact, appear. The problem is that it's really been buried--almost hidden--and can be difficult to hear unless you're really listening for it or have listened to the soundtrack several times over, as I have. This leads to yet another problem, however, as there is so much cut-and-pasting in the PT and the soundtracks (at least as commercially released) do not flow in a way that is really coherent or relevant to the progression or pacing of the story.

All that being said, though, I am a HUGE fan of John Williams and I think that a lot of the work he did for the PT was absolutely brilliant, but misused. For example, I've always been very fond of the march that plays as the Trade Federation invades Theed, but I do have to admit that I'd have trouble imagining that particular piece playing during any OT moment.

But it think it'd be shit to have to hold the button all the time, quite impractical.

Yeah, I imagine that would be really annoying. lol

Well, here's an idea: maybe they use the force to keep lightsabers on/switch them off? I mean, if it was how they were trained then maybe using the force to keep a switch or a pressure sensor on would be easy, almost second nature. This is sort of an imperfect idea, I know, as I'm not sure how great Luke's force abilities would have actually been in ANH/ESB, but if it were easy enough then he might have been able to catch on quickly? It would certainly account for lightsabers staying on/going off at a user's will even when not in said user's physical possession. Thoughts?

Come on, everyone! For the past several pages, the majority of the posts here have been nothing but personal attacks and senseless arguing over non-ESB related opinions. Finding a worthwhile post that actually pertains to ESB:R is like finding a needle in a haystack. It's true that some of our members have done some pretty crappy things, but let's not forget that we're all Star Wars fans and fans of Adywan's amazing work. We are here to foster OPEN DISCUSSION with the hope that said discussion will have a POSITIVE IMPACT on Ady's current project.

Let's all take a moment to remember why we log into these forums each day. We are here to unite, not to fight amongst ourselves--I mean, how could such behavior possibly be productive? When someone says something we disagree with, I'm sure we can find a way to express our opinions maturely and articulately. We're all adults here... right?

This one I like the best. I like how it mixes the "Battle of Heros" at the beginning with the classic ANH theme at the end, this one feels the most fitting in ANH IMO.

I really like this one. I feel like the music fits it very well, which actually surprises me because I was always one of those people who thought that this particular scene sounded best left alone. Whoever cut this together did a nice job.
