I’m not a huge fan of Abrams, but his flag-waving for 35mm earns him lots of points in my book.
I wonder if Abrams will keep Trevorrow’s plans to shoot IX in 65mm, or if he will continue using 35.

Glad I finally watched it. While I enjoyed it, I prefer my anti-war social commentary in the form of Planet of the Apes (1968) or Dr. Strangelove. But still an above-par film. 7/10
As long as the film is cut right and Han and Leia’s faces aren’t Magenta, I’d be happy. Everyone who thinks their specific color preferences should carry some weight because they’re reflected in print X or Y is neurotic, IMO. How green were the Death Star walls on a new 1977 Kodak print? I don’t care.

I just can’t see the OOT ever getting released on its own. As a 2nd disc feature, maybe.
I’d buy a set with both SE and OUT cuts without hesitation. It’s the prequels that would aggravate me. But Lucasfilm has never forced the prequels on people who don’t want them. They have OT sets and have released individual titles as well.
The mere fact of the huge SW pirate market should be motivation enough for them not to force OUT buyers to pay for the prequels.

I never thought the DC was deficient until I saw the Final Cut, and deficient is probably way too strong a word. Having seen the edited versions, I find the theatrical unwatchable.
I’m so confused as to why the directors cut is even still out there, save for as a special feature in the box set they put out. Just seems odd that’s what’s on demand and not the final. Theatrical was on Netflix awhile back and that was neat as a curiosity, but with the final cut in existence, I don’t get the persistence of the directors cut.

Since Colin Trevorrow’s story pitch was so Leia-centric, I guess it’s not surprising that after Carrie Fisher’s death Lucasfilm brought JJ back. With TFA Abrams proved he can do a SW film where one of the three OT leads is absent for the whole thing.
I doubt that had anything to do with it.
Release moved to December 2019. Good, 18 months is a little too quick.
