Sometimes I think hidalgo gets too far into conversations he shouldn’t and tells a lie or half truth to get out.

I think the First Order is more akin to Russia coming out of the Cold War than Germany coming out of WWII. By killing the Emperor, they cut off the head. But there was still a galaxy-wide “navy” to carry the torch.
Forgive me if I don’t quite trust Lucasfilm to make alternate cuts just yet 😉
He said alternate cut, not forcibly imposed original vision 😉
And is there actually chatter we might see this on the BD?
RIP, majestic cape shot. May the Force be with you 😢
That was one of my favorite shots in the preview
I was possibly going to get Revenge of the Sith Steelbook, but I put it off. I didn’t want my first Star Wars Blu-Ray to be a Prequel. Oh well.
Still available from best buy… For now
Edit : also,why, lol
Just looked up the release date. They were initially released on Nov. 10, 2015.
Either some upcoming release with outdated picture, or a glitch and it’s just out of stock and reverted to the release date.
And this is weird,
Star Wars and Empire steelbooks listed on Target as “pre-order, releases on 11/10”
Jedi listed as in stock.
Edit: all the prequels listed as “out of stock,” except Sith, which lists as “available 11/10.”
speaking of steelbooks, judging by Amazon listings, looks like they’ve been discontinued.
Edit: gone at Amazon, Walmart listing limited quantities for some titles.
Someday the kids who were 5 when the prequels came out won’t be around anymore, and then nobody will want to watch those videos anyway.
Hey, I was five… and I never want to watch them again.
About time.
Also in news about movies finally coming to Blu: The Pink Panther sequels!
The Pink Panther has been out for a while now, but the sequels have been slow to follow. Hopefully they’ll release individual titles, I really just want a Shot in the Dark, and IIRC, the DVD is just dreadful.
Maybe that’s what the Steelbook cases were initially intended for. The hoopla around their release was pretty stupid given that the inside was the exact same crap they’d been selling for four years at that point.
I appreciate all the citations posted thus far, but can someone link me to where I can find info on Disney requesting an archival print of Star Wars from the Library of Congress?
LOC made a scan. I think the “at the request of lucasfilm” is based on insider info from one forum or another.

The exchange between the two is amazing and I would have loved to see Krennic try to bring Galen to his side of thinking in a couple of flashback scenes. This also could have given the film more time to develop Galen as a character so that his death would be more impactful.
Definitely recommend Catalyst, Krennic is the best part of the book.
Never read a Star Wars novel, except 1/4 of Plaguies which I gave up on. But I might pick this up once it’s out in paperback.
That might be some distorted version of the rumor that the OUT had been restored, but the original film needed “more work.” Hence “this conversion” not being used.
Thanks. I tried to look for it to no avail
Only tangentially related, but was there ever an LP/CD release that had the film version of Lapti Nek? It’s very different from the soundtrack version, and I recently stumbled across a full-length version on YouYube.
Neither did George Lucas, at the time.
Honestly difficult to imagine Vader being subservient to anyone who wasn’t at least his peer vis-a-vis the force.
Sony finally lost the license and Disney records put them out as soon as they could so they could get that money. Nothing remotely pertaining to the release of the OOT here.
Is it not significant which version they chose to put out? As far as I can tell, there is no © Lucasfilm version of the SE soundtrack just released.
Maybe, but I hope that the OUT won’t be only available on 4K UHD discs. I don’t have a player.
I wouldn’t expect any feature content to be available exclusively on UHD.
I don’t have a player either, but I would buy a BD/UHD combo pack over a BD-only or BD/DVD pack in a heartbeat to future proof it in case LF decides to fuck us over again.
Probably jumping the gun here, but if LF/2oth C. Fox do indeed plan on a home video release of the OT this year (edit: OUT or otherwise–the latter would be valuable for preservation efforts), what are the chances it will be available in the UHD BD format? I know Disney doesn’t yet support the format, but Fox seems to be pushing it pretty hard (especially with the sci-fi/action genre). As this would be a “distributed by 2oth C. Fox” release, might we see it released in 4K for home media?
“we do know that Disney and Lucasfilm have created a new 4K master of the original Star Wars (1977 – don’t ask us which version, though we strongly suspect they have 4K presentations of both the original and George Lucas’ preferred version).” - Digital Bits. I trust Bill Hunt’s strong suspicions more than most people’s
Oldie but goodie 😄
guess i missed it

isn’t this a rebellion of sorts?
