Idea: Uncanny X-Men (X3 edit - * unfinished project*)
Time
Ah, good idea about inserting Ellen Page into part two somewhere. That could help tie it in better. Maybe you could even put more scene from three earlier on in two in order to blend it better. I haven't seen any of the films for a long time, but here is an idea for transitioning from two to three. At the end of two, Jean sacrifices herself, they get all broke up about it in the jet, then there is a shot of it flying off into the distance. The next scene is in the oval office with the president, then the last scene is Charles talking with Scott and Logan about Jean. They both have a good deal of finality in them since they were intended to close up the film. I am not sure how important the last two scenes are since I have not seen them for so long. If nothing really essential is said in them, which I don't think there is, I would suggest fading out from the plan flying off into the distance to the danger room scene at the beginning of three with a "*However many* Month Later" caption. I think that transition would really work. This would also cut out the scene where Eric and Charles visit Jean as a little girl (not sure how important that really is, the last time I saw the film was during its opening week, and that has been a while), and the scene with Angel cutting his wings off. If it is possible, I might even suggest cutting out Angel's character completely, or maybe somehow moving that scene to the beginning of X2 before the Nightcrawler attack in the white house, which would again contribute to merging the two films into one. If the Jean as a young girl scene is important, than perhaps it could fit in at the beginning of X2, since even X2 is a good deal about her, it would probably fit in pretty naturally.

Oh, and as for video game cut scenes, no matter how good they look, they don't look good enough to be spliced in with film footage. I think the "this many months later" would suffice to explain Nightcrawler's absence. Or if you can just find audio from the game explaining it concisely, then maybe you could squeeze it in somewhere. But it was never like Nightcrawler joined the X-Men or decided to live at the mansion, circumstances just brought him there for a short visit. An explaination would be nice, but I am not sure it is worth resorting to video game cut scene or going through a lot of effort fix.

Holy crap!! RemixerBoss is still around!!! And he is still going on about the "fuckwit" thing! Man, talk about not letting it go and not having anything better to do. There is no way you are that bored man! Go back to school or something. Find a job. Head over to your local Gamestop and buy a crappy used Game Cube, they are only $39.99 and it will give you something to do. If you are hard up for cash, find out the location of your local library. They have books you can rent for free! Free entertainment! You could even volinteer there and teach kids how to read. There is no need to waste your life like this. You only get one go around at this, everyday you are a little older and closer to death. Make the best of the time you have. It is really sad to go on for month about being called a "fuckwit" by some dude on the internet you don't even know.

No more Star Wars from Master Replicas
Time
I hope things like this continue to happen. I hope LFL puts the cost of their licenses so high that it outsizes the demand and they are left hanging. It seems to be happening with the new Clone Wars CG TV series, and it seems to be happening with Master Replicas. As far as I am concerned there is a disgustingly large quantity of SW products out there, we don't need anymore. If I ever feel the need for an MR prop replica or Stormtrooper helmet, ebay can help me out. Enough is enough. I really hope companies start giving LFL the message (and I hope it is a true message) that the demand just isn't there any more. And I hope they have to suck it up and give them a lower price, and I hope even the TF.n gushers start to get bored with this. If not, then those guys have the longest attention spans ever! Surely a time must come when even the gushers will get tired of buying the trilogy/ies on DVD again every single year.

Really? Most modern sitcoms are filmed in front of live audiences? Like Seinfeld and Friends? They were live? I did not know that. I know some shows say at the beginning "this show is filmed in front of a live audience", but things like Seinfeld and Friends and most other modern sitcoms on TV seem like they have a lot of scenes in them (airport, city streets, resturants, stores, etc.) that would be very difficult to film in front of an audience, and their over all quality doesn't feel live. At any rate, canned or live, the laughter is irritating to me.

I would rank "The Office" higher than most of the ones you listed. I also can't help but love the fact that it doesn't have freaken canned laughter. Laugh tracks are something that have always annoyed the crap out of me. I shouldn't have to be qued at the points where I am suppose to laugh, if it is funny then I will laugh.

But whether a show is good or not, has a lot to do with the viewer. Some shows may just outright suck, but beyond that if a show is good or not is relative. Friends is considered one of the greatest Sitcoms of all time, and I don't like it.

With all the SHREKS, MONSTER HOUSE'S, RATTATOUIE (or whatever it's called or spelt!!!) light relief/comedy anmation, how about some good old fashioned, really loud THX quality, digital picture, kiss ass dramatic STAR WARS stuff (I mean, that shot of the animated Anakin with his lightsaber, mid-air in the clouds of a pink skyed alien world, leaping from STAP to STAP destroying them, on the BIG SCREEN, would make it worth my £6.00 for a cinema ticket, I can tell ya!!).

Whoa! Just watched the trailer for these things. Ouch! It comes to me sadly that this thing being 100% CG, look almost exactly like the films that it is spun off of, only slightly better and with very cartoony looking human characters. If they just dropped the cartooniness and tried to make the thing look realistic instead of like the cut scene to a childrens video game, it could easily be mistaken for the films. It is like the prequel triology, but now with a "Bonus 15% more CG absolutely free!" I just can't get over the over the top cartoony characters, they would be really hard to take seriously. If it were not for that, and if I knew it could be expected to have better writting than the PT, I might actually think I could enjoy these things.

Yeah, and the line "If your half the man he was you'll do okay" just wouldn't have worked, obviously sometime between the time that line was written and 1997, Lucas decided to change Anakin's character drastically by making him a pansy (which better fit hist original vision) rather than a cool hero, so of course that line had to go. I understand that they were originally going to redub it to "if you are half the pansy he was, then you might survive this" but the guy who played red leader was unavailable, so they just went the CGI extra route.

Well, since there's a GoMer thread...
Time
It would just be a lame knock off of the Go-Mer-Tonic's. Besides, no matter what Sean does, he will never be able to reach the status of annoying and always contradicting that Gomer had. And it was at the very instant that this thread was created that Go-Mer ceased to come here. Who knows, if this thread were replaced with a Sean Wookie thread it would probably make Gomer come back and Sean leave. And that wouldn't be too cool, as I am rather fond of Sean and I disliked Gomer.

The Go-Mer-Tonic™ Thread - Today's Topic: Whose your favorite author and why?
Time
When it comes to books I have a very hard time picking just one author to call my absolute favorite, so I will list some of my all time favorites.

Erich Maria Remarque is a writer that I can pick up anything of and know I will enjoy it greatly. The only reason I haven't read everything he has written is because I don't know German and I would like to save some of them to read later in life. He is just a great writer who lived through some tough times and writes about people living through tough times and coping with it. For anyone interested in reading his stuff, I would say his classic anti-war novel, All Quiet on the Western Front is the best place to start.

I am also very fond of Ernest Hemingway, Ismail Kadare, Herman Melvill, Charles Dickens, Philip K. Dick, Douglas Adams, Kurt Vonnegut, Richard Matheson, George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, Harper Lee, H.G. Wells, Victor Hugo.

And a couple of one hit wonders (or people whom I have only read one book of but been overly impressed by), Chuck Palahnuik, Pierre Boulle, Anthony Burgess.

I would suggest going with the two film idea, leaving part 1 as is, and merging 2 and 3 into one long film. You could leave 2 mostly as is with just a few minor cuts here and there to shorten it up, then tack on a severely trimmed 3 onto the end.

Oh, and one minor change I would highly recommend for part one, add the Marvel Comics flipping pages logo onto it. I for one really like that logo and it would tie it in with the other marvel movies better.

It would be hard to explain a few things between 2 and 3. Shadowcat is different, Nightcrawler is gone without explaination, but I guess those things are not too bad. I guess cutting out the Kity Pride reference from 2 and adding a simple "this many months later" subtitle between the 2 and 3 footage would explain things well enough. The hardest thing will be dealing with the death of Scott, which is what I would say ruined the film the most. I think for any reasonable fanedit, the whole Scott thing would just have to be left in. Moving the scene with Charles in the body of the man at the end of the credits might be cool to move before the credits.

2007 DVD repackage
Time
I am just guessing here because I am too lazy too look it up, and I know very little about HD TVs since I have not so much as even considered buying one, but I would assume since anamorphic was made so that DVDs could double for 4:3 or widescreen TVs, that there would not have to be anamorphic HD DVDs since HD TVs don't come in 4:3. Rather, I would assume they would just make them the proper size instead of making them anamorphic. Whew, imagine seeing the GOUT as a special feature on a HD DVD in the piss poor quality it is now, I shudder to think!

Tolkien and Lewis are two of my favorite writers as well. Pullman often speaks out about how much he dislikes Lewis' narnia books, he is even called by some the "anti-Lewis". If you were to read all the way through Golden Compass, you might not find anything too objectional, it isn't until further in the second book that hints start coming, you might even be able to read all of book two without finding anything objectional, but book three goes all out. It has a lot of very New Age ideas in it, but the premise it basically war against heaven, and the people and gay angels play the part of the rag tag rebels and God's second in command, Enoch, leads the army of heaven against the rebellion, but only because God is to old and decrepid to do it himself. By the end of the third book the protagonist, the little girl, kills God.

Huh, based on all your post skyjedi, I always took you to be more of a right leaning conservative Christian type. Especially with your comment about the need to be careful of bashing the Jews since Jesus was a Jew. So it kind of took me by surprise when you mentioned the "wonderful trilogy by Philip Pullman". Even more ironic is the use of "thank God New Line got the rights" when in reference to a series where God is the main villian (or rather the predecessor to the main villian, kind of like Morgoth and Sauron, only in Pullmans books it is God and Enoch). Though while the subject matter was pretty offensive, overly biased and anti-christian, I must admit, Pullman is a pretty good writer and posses the ability to pull people into his world that tops even J. K. Rowling.

He is an interesting writer alright. Just never been able to get into his stuff. I kind of feel like I should be smoking weed or something while reading Fear and Loathing in order to fully get it. Ah, if I would have thought about it a bit more I would have realized that, even though I knew we were talking about the magazine for some reason I was looking for a connection between Thompson and the band RS. That was retarded.

Whoa! I usual check up on this place pretty regularly, but it seems like everytime I leave for a few days something semi exciting happens behind my back. I have no idea what you original posts were, guess I never will. Sorry you were mistaken for Zig, but like bkev said, must new members get mistaken for Zig. Especially if they start off bold. Anyway, these boards need some new life in them, we can use all the new non-trolling members we can get. Welcome to the boards.

Though I am sorry to hear you say you will never post another topic again... if you renig on that promise I am sure none of us will hold it against you. Like I said before, we need new life around here, new non spamming topics are welcome. Hmm, like I said, I haven't been here the last few days, but it seems your other thread was about preserving or a petition for Balto?? Did I miss something?? I don't find that very "reckless" as you called it. If you have noticed certain parts of this site are dedicated to the preservation of films. In other words, I would say mentioning something like the preservation of a film seems like a pretty common place thing around here, nothing reckless about it. If others don't share your enthusiasm at first don't be discouraged, not too many people come around here, which means the chances of stumbling across a fellow fans of certian things is lower. But it is worth posting by chance that you do stumble across someone else with interest. If not the worst thing that will happen is your thread will sink into oblivion without any replies, no need to request its deletion. Some of the best threads in this place began with the poster being scorned and made fun of, just ask members like Trooperman. When he first proposed making a fan edit of Episode II which included redubbing Anakin and other minor characters, he ended up with several pages of jest. Now his thread is 90 pages long with over a thousand replies and we are (hopfully) a few months away from having a very impressive (or at the least very interesting) fanedit of Attack of the Clones. Don't let the first few replies discourage you.
