I definitely like the idea of having the crackling blade for the whole movie. Feels so obviously perfect, considering the parallel between Rey and Kylo that they were going for, that I’m surprised J.J. didn’t do it that way in the first place.
So I just saw joh h’s edit of the ending of RoS and now I’m suddenly craving an edit of this movie that incorporates it. I see in your edit notes that you’ll be putting it in, so I’m gonna keep track of this project with great interest.
Does anyone happen to have a copy of these? It seems the original dropbox no longer exists.
Okay I just got done watching this, and I loved it. I don’t think I’ll be able to go back to an unmerged RotS after this, it just meshed so perfectly in my opinion.
Only two minor issues stood out to me:
The scene where Obi-Wan has a hologram conversation with Ahsoka, are you sure that scene is supposed to take place after Obi-Wan arrives on Utapau? The way he says “I’m being sent to hunt down General Grevious on Utapau”, makes it sound like he hasn’t gone there yet. Would this scene fit better a bit earlier, right before Obi-wan leaves?
If you decide to keep the final Vader scene as a post credits scene, I think you should have it fade to black at the end. It currently ends abruptly, which is awkward.
Now I just really need a movie edit of Rebels so I can have a more concise conclusion the Vader/Ahsoka and Obi-Wan/Maul story arcs without having to sit through all the filler.

This sounds great.
Ultimately what I really think we need is an edit of everything from the beginning of Clone Wars to the end of Rebels streamlined into a series of movies with all the filler thrown out and all the arcs spliced together properly. So a couple CW movies leading up to a merger of RotS and SoM, followed by a couple movies with the important bits from Rebels leading up to R1 and the OT.
So, I’ve been planning a chronological Star Wars marathon of every show and movie, and I really wanted a version of A New Hope that incorporates FXitinPost’s SC38 Reimagined. ForceGhostRecon’s edit was the best one out there, as he did a great trim down of SC38 that makes it less excessive. However, he altered the opening using Rogue One footage, thus rendering his edit incompatible with Rogue One. I wanted a version that adhered to canon and fit with every other movie, including Rogue One, so I decided to make my own edit.
I used ForceGhostRecon’s edit as a base, but restored the original opening, the original Death Star explosion, and the Special Edition scenes. I also made an alternate version that still excludes the Jabba scene (on the one hand, it’s canon, and I kind of dig the bizarre novelty of seeing a CGI alien in a Star Wars movie from 1977, but on the other hand the movie is better without the scene, so I figured I’d just have both options).
I’m really happy with the end result. I feel like the new fight scene between Obi-Wan and Vader really flows well as a follow-up to what we saw Obi-Wan and Vader were capable of in Episode 3, Rebels, and Rogue One. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s definitely mine.
If anyone’s interested in checking it out, feel free to send me a PM.
Would love to check it out

Enjoy it along with Dooku vs. Yoda, Yoda vs. Palpatine, and the rest of the bright, colourful, flashy pap this shitty franchise has become.
Thanks, I will.
SC 38 Reimagined is prequelized junk. Vader needlessly calling his lightsaber to his hand telekinetically is proof enough of that.
Perhaps the original duel is a tad too clunky and claustrophobic. Perhaps it could do with a facelift. But this overwrought masturbatory exercise isn’t the way towards doing that.
What’s “masturbatory” about showing Vader actually use the Force? Why shouldn’t space wizards with cool space wizard powers be shown using their cool space wizard powers?
Because subtlely trumps sound and fury signifying nothing.
It signifies Vader’s high level of power and skill in Force, setting him up to be an incredibly daunting challenge for Luke to face in the future.
