Idea: Lord Of The Rings trilogy edit...
Time
Surprisingly enough, I rewatched all the extended versions of these movies this week. The first two times I watched them I thought they were great. This time, however, all I could think while sitting there was, that Peter Jackson and his wife are really shitty screenwriters. Take, for example, the missing scourging of the shire. Apparently this wasn't in the movie because Jackson didn't like it in the book. So apparently, he thinks he could write a better ending than Tolkien. If they ever film The Hobbit they should really let someone else do the script.

Evangelion anime Project (Released)

OK everyone, go ahead and stop your downloads, there is something wrong with the disc. I have had numerous reports that the files are watchable as standalones, but for some reason the disc is not burnable. I'm not a newbie at this sort of thing, so I have absolutely no idea what the heck is going on. On the bright side, I will be able to (hopefully) get some subtitles on the Genesis docs in the extra time I will have. I will let you all know when a Remastered version is finished. It will happen, I promise you, so please be willing to download this huge chunk of data all over again.

Regarding the live action movie, my favorite thing Matt Greenfield said in a recent interview was (now I'm paraphrasing here), "Weta gets more emails on a daily basis than they do for Lord of the Rings." Well, no shit Sherlock, because LotR is over. Why would anyone send them emails about the production of finished movies? I think you guys are right in saying they lost their financial backing. Why else would he say stuff like this? Most likely to deflect questions about the live-action movie's lack of progress.

On a side note, I have a low resolution copy of animatics for episodes 25-26 and Rebirth. Is anyone interested in seeing these? Better still, does anyone have a high resolution copy they would be willing to let me use?

Btw, you guys hear the rumor of Peter Jackson doing a live action NGE movie?

I never came across the Evangelion Matrix Reloaded parody. How about a link? I found enough material to honestly make another 3 discs of bonus materials, but I kind of doubt I will ever use all that stuff. Someday in the far, far future I may do a second special features disc, but as for now, I'm putting Eva out of my mind As far as the movie, Peter Jackson is not doing it. His effects company Weta was contracted by ADV Films (the U.S. license holder of NGE) to do the CGI for a live-action Eva movie. According to ADV, they actually intend to do a trilogy of movies, and are currently shopping for a director. Apparently, this was supposed to have gotten off the ground a few years ago, but King Kong used up all of Weta and NGE got put on hold. Matt Greenfield (an ADV bigwig), is also known to be very full of shit, he talks about the series with a familiarity like he created Evangelion. I doubt a live-action NGE will ever come to be, but if it does happen, it will definitely suck. There is no way they can condense 13 hours of a TV series and a 2 hour movie into approximately 6 hours and have it be good.

Hold on to your butts....

It is finally finished! I just posted the torrent on Demonoid so start downloading it, Eva fans! Also, can anyone tell me how to disable the Windows Automatic Update? I'm afraid it will auto update and restart my computer and kill all the seeds. Thanks, in advance. Also, here is a preview of the cover art included in the torrent.

There are some of you I promised to mail a DVD. Well, it probably won't happen until sometime next week, but send me your addresses (U.S. only please) and I'll get them out when I have a chance. For those of you I haven't already talked to, I won't be able to send you a disc (sorry, i'm a poor med student) but I'm sure you'll be able to get it eventually via torrent or PIF.

I was just about to burn this to a DVD last night, and I have the exact same question.

I'm going to attempt to make some covers for this. One for a 6-disc case, and then three others for 2-disc cases. My question is this: does anyone have the official (or unofficial) text synopses from the backs of the 6 individual books? Yes, they do exist, as I know someone who used to have them but no longer does. These would be perfect for presenting these as the book versions.

Lord Phillock,
I just downloaded the first disc. I haven't watched it through yet, but I spot checked a couple of places where your edits occured. I think your edit works much better with its showing Gandalf reading about the major battle instead of just seeing it in the opening scene. The 17 years later subscript and the "The Ring Goes South" title screen were nice touchs as well. I have two comments: first, is there anyplace where the title "The Ring Sets Out" appears in the beginning? If not, perhaps just underneath the "Fellowship" would be cool, and second why no 5.1 sound? These movies have an amazing soundtrack and I would thought you would have included this. Anyway, take my comments with a grain of salt as I haven't watched it yet but I do think this will be pretty amazing!

Just Got FF VII: Advent Children!

I picked this one up last week. I have mixed feelings about it. Visually, it looks stunning, yet....somehow I think Final Fantasy: Spirits Within looked more realistic. I don't know, maybe they were going for an anime/videogame look over realism this time around. Story wise it was weak. Action wise, it was badass. Lastly, I am normally a big fan of dubs, but the dub this time isn't all that great. As an anime fan I recognized many of the english voice actors. Unfortuantely, they hired some b-list celebs to voice the main characters, which results in wooden, phony dialogue. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the movie, but it has some drawbacks. Overall, it was worthwhile watching and I'm proud to have it in my collection. Anyone who is a fan of the game should definitely watch.
