Earliest TV or Movie Memories
Time
I got this idea from a comment posted by Ric (thanks, man!).

So detail your earliest TV or movie memory. What was the first TV show or movie you remember watching? How old were you? What are the circumstances surrounding that event?

Mine...

The earliest TV show I remember watching was Sanford & Son. It was 1980, I was five years old, and I had just moved to Kentucky from New York. I was looking around our basement TV room for my stuff which was still in boxes. I found a box marked Kevin's toys and tore it open and found my Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider toys from Battlestar Galactica. Then I turned on the TV. Sanford & Son was on. I had no idea what it was but I left it on while I played with my ships.

My earliest movie memory is of my parents taking me out in the family car. I had no idea where they were taking me and they wouldn't tell me. Then I looked up and saw a theater marquee with Star Wars on it. I'm assuming it was the '78 re-release. Dunno how I knew what it said considering I didn't learn to read until about '79, but I knew. Logo recognition? That is my earliest movie memory although I have no memory of being in the theater and actually watching it. Just of the process of pulling up to the theater in my parents' car.

Anybody else?

Nah. Actually, anytime I see an actor of Indian descent (or starring in Indian movies) in this game, I do a cross reference search on IMDb for movies with Amrish Puri. He seems to be in just about anything ever made in Bollywood, so it's a pretty safe bet he'll work his way into the solution somehow.

All Bolly roads lead to Puri...

Save for the fact that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is not out yet and, therefore, is not eligible (see rule #5 on the first page). Haw haw! Yes, I'm getting technical, but it is a rule.

Oh, and Gundark, why would you offer up somebody that you pretty much already solved? Both were in Charlie and both would have costarred with Christopher Lee. Obviously since Charlie's not out, this is a moot point. But you both were acting under the assumption that it was a viable option.

So, to settle any problems here...

Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland) Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean) Keira Knightley

AnnaSophia Robb (Because of Winn Dixie) Elle Fanning (I Am Sam) Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) Samuel L. Jackson

Tupac Shakur (Juice) Samuel L Jackson

Since Charlie's not out yet, I can ask another one from that cast and you guys can't use it as a solution... David Kelly (I) who is playing Grandpa Joe.

I think we're thinking about official LFL DVDs. If we're talking about DVD-Rs, I already have a set that is to my preference thanks to DigitalFreakNYC. Came from the Def. Ed. LDs. Great stuff.

I, for one, could handle the O-OT either way. You can clean it up or not clean it up. The matte lines never bugged me as they were part of the charm of the SFX of the O-OT. I grew up with those matte lines and actually enjoy seeing them. If he (being GL) wants to clean them up while getting rid of the additional garbage, that's fine, too. I'll leave that to him. Just pull out the added CGI garbage one way or another and give us a DVD set that represents how we saw the movies. And if you want to throw the deleted scenes from the movies in as bonus features, more power to you. I'd love to see all the scenes with Biggs on DVD.

I'm not sure what to make of this. The sixth season of The Simpsons has been announced and will be released on August 16. That is not the problem. My problem is with the packaging for this new set. Check this thing out...

While, in and of itself, it's a cool package design. It is completely impractical and does not fit in AT ALL with the first five seasons. What the hell were they thinking?

I'm on a bunch of forums, and none have such high requirements. You guys are super-human. ^_^;;

One anime forum I'm on has "Pokemon Watcher" as it's first fifty. You wouldn't believe all the, "How do I get rid of this title" and so on we get. THat title has inspired more will to get at least 51 posts than any I've seen.

Yeah, we kinda blew the curve here quite some time ago. Sorry. We've set impossibly high standards and we love 'em!

Say it IS so! Please, say it will be so!! From IMDb...

Skywalker As The Joker? It's No Joke
Original Star Wars star Mark Hamill has joined the shortlist of favorites to play The Joker in the Batman Begins sequel. The actor, who played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, has become a fan favorite to play Batman's colorful foe. He joins Crispin Glover and Aussie actor Lachy Hulme on the three-strong internet shortlist. Hamill became an obvious choice for some Batman fans after voicing The Joker for the Batman cartoon series. A spokesman for top Batman website Darkhorizons.Com points out, "The net basically picked Christian Bale to play Batman, so who knows." Batman Begins opens across America and Europe this week.

But, then again, this is just fanboy drooling at this point.

Stephen King
Time
I'm not a huge fan of Stephen King as any of his full-length novels since the mid 80s have all been terrible. He starts out great and builds up a high level of suspense and terror, but he can never finish them. He comes up with some BS event like a drive-by shooting and that just sends the book to hell in a handbasket.

Now, short stories and novellas, on the other hand. Great stuff. Different Seasons is the best. Contains some of his best stories and, subsequently, his best film adaptations.

Fave stories...

Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
The Body

Fave movies...

The Shawshank Redemption
Stand By Me
