Make Original Trilogy DVDs available through originaltrilogy.com
Time
I thought that copy protection existed on a lot of VHS releases. I remember seeing the Macrovision logo on a bunch of movies.

It may sound like it's against the MDRA based on wording, but there is the Fair Use Clause that allows for the creation of an extra copy of a piece of mass media for the purpose of backing something up. IT departments do it all the time with software. They will take a new piece of software and burn an exact replica of it. Then they store away the original and use the copy as the installation piece of software. If it gets scratched, broken, etc., they still have the original to make another useable copy from.

I believe he dislikes them as well. But I just don't understand why. These were his babies. It would be like my parents saying they hate me because I was their firstborn and only got it right with my kid brother. I know that's a stretch, but film can definitely be very personal and you can act like an overprotective parent at times when dealing with it and protecting it from the critics, etc. I would think he would treat each version of these films as a different child. Each one has it's differences and points of uniqueness and each definitely has a right to live. No need to euthanize one to make room for another.

Did I just go off the deep end on that one?

Discussion: Vintage line to be reissued?
Time
I don't think it's a matter of making the figures look vintage or releasing the "best of" sorts of figures (why would a Twin-Pod Cloud Car pilot be included in that mix). It's just a way of adding some life back in to the series (and making another quick buck) by creating new packaging. I don't mind them. In fact, they look better than many of the figures that have been released lately. They've been releasing figs of such obscure characters lately, that it's gotten a bit pathetic. I welcome these. They're kinda nice.

I can agree with this statement. I really never thought that this topic would be so polarized. I was always of the opinion that all fans would want the original if for no other reason than to be able to compare it to the SE. But there actually seems to be more that either don't want it or don't give a rat's ass. It gets a bit disgusting to see how ignorant some people can be about film history and how ignorant they can be about having both versions being made available. Hey, if they don't want it, don't buy it. It's what I'm doing with these DVDs come September.

and with his backing could also help get the word out.

Nope, you're thinking Kevin Smith. Michael Moore is the director/writer/star/antagonist behind the documentary films Roger & Me and Bowling For Columbine. In Roger & Me, he attacked the head of the Chrysler Corporation for shutting down their plants in Flint, Michigan, and therefore ruining the livelihood of practically all the townspeople and bringing the entire town to the verge of financial ruin.

When he gets fired up, there's no stopping him. And he is equally big like Kevin Smith. Both very big guys. Moore is the one who gave the anti-Bush speech in the Oscars last year.

Read these two articles please...

Basher, you tool, read the article that's linked by R2-G2 above. It does talk about the Ultimate Editions that Bill Hunt has insider knowledge to be in the works. Bill Hunt of thedigitalbits does not post idiot fanboy rumors because he's above all that. He's been following this news for a couple of years now from insiders because TDB.com is a very well-respected site by both fans and the industry and they tend to get the inside scoop before most other sites.

Deal with it, you are wrong. You are living in a fantasy world, like you claim we do, if you believe that the SE is the final word.

Or are you too immature to admit that you can be wrong?

And you obviously have no iota of willpower in your feeble character if you think that there is not a person on this site who can say no to the SE on DVD. Have you never been able to say no before? Don't you ever stand firm in your convictions? Or are you the sort to cave in to anything and therefore believe that everyone else shares this same lack of conviction? Watch me say no. You just solidified my resolve. Thank you. You have finally proven yourself to have some semblance of value in this forum.
