SE Trilogy DVDs' covers

It's funny. As much as I dug on the Jedi vs. Sith cover (primarily from a graphic design perspective) in my first post in this thread, I now find myself liking it the least because of my Yoda discovery and what everyone else has said. I agree with MSD 100% (and DC and RRS) that the OT was about Luke vs Vader and should show him. I would love to see some sort of cover that shows his "progression", per se. Maybe his Jedi Luke image as the main image with a smaller inset of him from Tatooine when he was looking up at the two suns setting with his floppy hat on.

Still grates on me though. I just get tired of the perpetuated stereotypes. Not that other shows don't have them, I'll admit. But stereotyping is all this show has. I want so desperately to bitch slap Deborah and the mom into oblivion. Then we can just have Peter Boyle in a pseudo spin off called "My Two Sons".

DVDs of 2004?

Luke, if you don't wanna watch a POS, then here are my suggestions with regard to your list...

Tears of the Sun - run away
Windtalkers - heard nothing but bad stuff about
We Were Soldiers - haven't seen it but heard it was, at the very least, decent
Black Hawk Down - great friggin' flick
Pearl Harbour - avoid like the plague if you want realism (been reading Flyboys lately and it tells the true account of the bombing of Tokyo that followed Pearl Harbor and it was nothing like the film - couldn't even get basics like the weather right and totally negated the fact that Jimmy Doolittle flew with them as well as the fact that no American crew members were shot on the ground after crashing -- 8 were captured and 3 of those 8 were executed by firing squad later on while the other 5 were rescued.)

Add these to your list instead... Tora! Tora! Tora!, Midway, Tigerland, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Legends of the Fall (the war stuff is a small part of the film, but it's incredibly well done by Ed Zwick), Glory, and The Last Samurai (it can be considered a war flick of sorts).

I also enjoyed Enemy at the Gates about the Battle of Stalingrad in WWII.

I, too, wasn't a huge fan of Saving Private Ryan. Liked it a lot the first two times I saw it, but the more you think about it, the more ridiculous it gets. Watch the first 20 minutes and then stop the DVD.

Digibits said that these are the working covers. There aren't going to be several releases with different packaging. These are all just concepts the company is working on right now. I dig the Jedi vs. Sith cover just because I think it's cool. But I agree with Jimbo that these covers should match the PT unless he's planning a whole new release of the PT once Ep3 comes out with new cover art. With George, one never knows.

Well, any of them would look nice shelved next to your Alien Quadrilogy, if you own it. Shame it doesn't quite match the movies it should be matching.

For the Special Edition, Vader's "Bring my shuttle" line has been replaced with, "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival". Sound designer Ben Burtt has confirmed that this is actually a line performed by James Earl Jones that and recorded for use in Star Wars (1977), but never used.

Probably sounds bad because it wasn't used and, therefore, likely deteriorated over time.

As I said in the other thread, I want to see the evidence from which you cull these numbers. Otherwise, you're just a little kid pulling made-up numbers out of his ass. Even I, the OV advocate, wouldn't dare to assume a number unless I've taken a pollling of a representative segment of the population (and, no, this and other SW forums don't count because they're not representative of a segment of any population since forum population represents relatively little of those who actually like SW).

Evidence, my boy. Any scientific or numeric claim such as this needs supporting evidence. So either bring it forward or shut up.

Again, I ask... you know this how? We challenged you with this before and you never brought forth the evidence. In fact, as I recall, you disappeared for a while. Show us your proof.

This was why we decided against it. Haven't seen a good Cuba flick since Jerry Maguire. The Oscar curse. Happened to Gwyneth, too.

I have yet to see Gilbert Grape. But I still have to say that I liked Gangs of NY with DiCaprio and he did a decent job with Catch Me If You Can despite how otherwise inferior the movie was.

As for other retarded star actors... while it wasn't a great movie, Juliette Lewis and Giovanni Ribisi did a good job in The Other Sister.

You don't know that for sure. Up until you started posting here, you were under the impression that everyone was of the same mind as you. And now you know better. Don't assume that everyone else thinks this way. It's not that they prefer the special effects, it's likely that they're too ignorant to know the difference. And many people are that way. I hate to use a negative word like "ignorant" but it's the truth in this case. Unless you've spoken to every single person the world over and gotten their opinion, don't presume to know what they think.

My wife and I used to watch it and we enjoyed it. However, it just became too much of the same old, same old. Ray acts like a dumbass, Deborah yells at him, Robert laughs at him, his father acts oblivious, and his mother pins the blame on Deborah and chastises her for her inability to cook. You can only act that out so many times before it gets tired.

I DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY BULLSEYE WAS PORTRAYED AND THE KILLING OFF OF ELECTRA IN THE FIRST DD MOVIE. I FELT HER DEATH WOULD HAVE SERVED BETTER IN A SEQUEL.

Agree on Bullseye and obviously Elektra is not dead since she's coming back in her own movie and she left that necklace for DD postmortem.
