George Lucas' explanation why the OT is obsolete to him

Hehe, thanks for the link, jimbo. Although I least expected to get a link to something like that from you.

Well, the thing I always liked was the flaming ring emitting from the Death Star upon explosion. To have fire, you need oxygen. Or so I was taught by science professors. And does oxygen exist in outer space? Nope. While it can be argued that it is burning off the oxygen that was within the Death Star, that would pretty much burn up upon the initial explosion. I wouldn't think that a ring of oxygen would be emitted from the Death Star conveniently allowing a "flaming ring" to result.

Beautiful Women

Diane Lane is quite hot and I've had a crush on her since my prepubescent days of watching Kenny Rogers' film Six Pack of which Lane was a costar. So happy to have her back and see that she is still hot. She was letting it all show in a film from the latter half of the 90s called Knight Moves with Christopher Lambert as well.

Is han solo the best star wars character in the world.
Time
Cuba did a few good flicks early in his career. Boyz n' the Hood was good and a few others up through and including his star turn in Jerry Maguire. However, once he won that shiny golden Oscar, he did nothing but crap flicks. Nobody takes him seriously anymore because he doesn't take his own career seriously. He needs a few good supporting roles in credible films to reestablish himself.

SE Trilogy on DVD coming this Fall
Time
Well, we now have the vocal support of Kevin Smith. This from NewsAskew.com...

Kevin made a surprise appearance on WFLD FOX 32 in Chicago on today's 12 o'clock news, in a piece about the upcoming DVD release of the Star Wars trilogy. In it, concerns were expressed over the fact that the 1997 Special Edition versions were being released and not the original versions. Kevin appeared in a small interview with none other to give his thoughts on the first trilogy's release. Our scooper didn't remember the exact words, but Kev basically said that he was glad that any versions of the Star Wars films were coming to DVD, although he would eventually like to see the original versions released as well.

By the way, that's my FOX affiliate. He was in Chicago all day on Wednesday trumping Jersey Girl and hit a ton of radio stations, TV stations, and college roundtables.

Well, let's see, shall we?

Eliminating the ones that have yet to be released, we are left with...

Beautiful Mind, A (2001) - I liked it.
Practical Magic (1998) - Staunchly refuse to see... ever
Lost in Space (1998) - wasn't too keen on it
Batman & Robin (1997) - hack
Time to Kill, A (1996) - decent the first couple of times you see it. Afterwards, though...
Batman Forever (1995) - hack
Silent Fall (1994) - never heard of
Client, The (1994) - decent, I suppose. But what Grisham adaptation has ever proven great? Runaway Jury is my fave of the bunch.

That puts us at...
Good - 3
Bad - 4
Unknown - 1

Now, if this were a democracy, the unknown category would probably be looked at as an abstaining vote which usually counts in the negative column. So we are now at 3:5. Not looking too good for Mr. Goldsman.
