Discussion: Non-SW Toys
Time

Okay, I had to start this thread for one simple reason, I found an awesome new Muppet figure that is being released through Palisades Toys ToyClub. The figure is US$15, but the membership costs US$50 for a lifetime jobber. That means I won’t be buying it, of course. If anyone else is already a Palisades ToyClub member and is willing to buy one that I can reimburse for, PM me. Please.

The new figure is Adventure Kermit and is modelled after a character near and dear to our hearts.

If the image doesn’t show up, link to the page here.

George Lucas' explanation why the OT is obsolete to him
Time
I wanted to copy a post that was up on the boards at theforce.net from a poster named JenX who was attempting to respond when someone asked her why she won't buy the Sept DVDs even though they are 95% the same as the O-OT. Here is how she responded. The original question is first in bold...

I can't quite figure out how someone can have "no" interest in the SEs. The movies are, what, 95% the same damn thing? Surely the bits that were changed weren't the only parts you enjoyed?

I'll try and explain.

Imagine a really great meal. Loads of different ingredients wonderfully combined by a great cook. It tastes great.

Now, imagine the same meal, but this time the cook has added too much salt.

Yeah, the meal is 99% the same, and all the parts that I liked are still there, but the change has made the meal inferior to the one I had last time.

And I would have no interest in having that inferior meal again.

This just states it all so beautifully and in no uncertain terms.

Top Grossing Films of All Time
Time
Congrats Sweyland. I agree on Cameron. He has such storytelling ability and I'd love to see him tackle an original subject again. I love Terminator (the original only), The Abyss (one of my all-time faves), and Aliens (still my fave of the Ripleyized bunch).

I would have to say, though, that I am a big fan of True Lies although I do see your point regarding the style of this film. It is a far cry from pretty much anything else he has done.
