How does Grand Moff Tarkin fit into Ep 3?

Cushing was the librarian with the one ridiculously oversized eye who couldn't reach high enough to get the books on the shelf. Remember him? Very bit part (about a couple of minutes) so I have no idea why he was listed so high unless it was just so that the movie had a name actor in the castlist.

I have to admit that the LOTR movies were actually better than the books. The Hobbit IS being made, and after King Kong is done, Peter Jackson will return to direct it.

Just for the record, there are rumors that The Hobbit may be pushed back as Peter Jackson has expressed interest in taking over the helm on The Lovely Bones which is a novel by Alice Sebold about a little girl who is raped and murdered and narrates her lifestory from heaven while observing how her family copes with life after her death and the investigation of her murder. That project was already in pre production when the slated director bowed out and Jackson said he is interested after Kong. No final deal yet.

I can definitely agree with you on his lack of change in his approach as of late, HG. That is true and I would love to see him return to a period piece like Great Train Robbert or Eaters of the Dead (a damn fine novel in its own right as well).

Motti, Prey is about nanotechnology in which scientists create nanodrones that are intended to fly around over enemy territory undetected. Then, when ready to strike, they form together to create a nanocloud that can attack and destroy just about anything. However, these nanobugs, in combination with the AI implanted in them, start to develop intelligence and evolve and they get loose.

I may be a bit off on my description as it's been well over a year since I read it.

Here's something I thought you guys might find interesting (from Yahoo! Upcoming Movies)...

Director Notes: (4/14/04) Quentin Tarantino recently told SciFi.com that he has talked with Pierce Brosnan about his dream idea of doing a serious, non-comedic adaptation of Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, 'Casino Royale.' Tarantino's idea is to take the franchise back to its roots, on a much lower budget, for Brosnan's last Bond movie (figuring that after this movie, the franchise is going to restart with a new Bond so they have nothing to lose). Tarantino admits that he is unlikely to get to do this, but it's fun to imagine anyway. Here's hoping he gets to do it.

Please tell me you love the original TCM over the remake!
Time
Yeah, it was one of those "before they were stars" things that never got released until the two made it big and the indie house figured they could cash in on their newfound fame.

No, I did not see that version or any version of TCM. I can't quite recall what movie I saw the remake of before the original. But I know it has happened. Just drawing a blank at the moment.

And if China would disassociate the value of its yuan from the value of the U.S. dollar, their economy would become even more valuable because the value of their monetary unit would shoot through the roof. But they're afraid of the value of the Yuan becoming too out of control and then spiraling downward afterwards. Which is a legitimate fear. Right now they have a 1:1 equivalency between the Yuan and the Dollar making trade with the U.S. very easy and that equivalency is locked in place. As the value of the dollar goes up (actually, it's down lately), the Yuan follows accordingly. And the U.S. loves it. But China is holding itself back economically in the process.

I've actually read almost all of MC's books. However, many of them were read before I started my website so I need to go back and reread them. Among those are JP, LW, Sphere, and A Case of Need (his first book from his med school days). I had also read Rising Sun back then, but reread it recently. It didn't blow me away as much as it did the first time, I agree. But I try to put these books in the context of when they were written. That makes it easier to deal with any issues that are out of date. It's almost a necessity when you're reading James Patterson as he makes so many pop culture references in his books that they get dated rather quickly. Try reading some of Patterson's pre nursery rhyme titles. You'll see what I mean. Very dated.

I think the fact that I've spread out my reading of MC has made it easier for me to not get sick of his style. Prey was my "return to Crichton" novel of late. After reading that one, I read a bunch more. So I wasn't ruined on his style. It had been nearly six years before that point since I had read an MC book. Considering the lapse, Prey floored me. I loved it. I could see some of it coming, yeah. But I love MC's writing. He has such a way of making nearly impossible to grasp science and business terminology easy to understand for the common person. Reading JP back in high school is what got me interested in genetics and I wound up taking a HS course on it. Aced it.

Great Train Robbery remains my fave, though. I love Victorian era England and I feel that Crichton did a good job of capturing it in that novel. Waiting to see if Patricia Cornwell's "Portrait of a Killer" can capture it that well as she hypothesizes about the identity of Jack the Ripper. On my reading list, just have to get to it.
