CGI and Digital or Real models and actors-whats your prefferance.?

I enjoyed Titanic the two times I saw it. Haven't seen it since it was in theaters. But I did enjoy it. Save for, like HotRod said, that damn Celine Dion song.

Plus, Kate Winslet is topless. How can you go wrong? I don't care what people may think about KW and those who think she's overweight can just take a flying leap. She's a beautiful woman and a good actress (loved her in Quills).

I agree that it does a nice job of explaining it, but I would've rather not had it explained. I enjoyed the whole mysticism of it. I thought that made it so much cooler when no one knew how to explain it really.

Nope. Read a story about it in Entertainment Weekly and Cuaron and Steve Kloves (screenwriter) butched it beforehand. There is very little actual cut footage. They made the edits before shooting and shot only what was absolutely necessary. So the DVD is gonna be pretty sparse on extra footage. Fine by me.

People complain that by using midichlorians, it ruins the mysticism of how people are determined to have the Force. Now, it's knocked down to nothing more than a blood test to determine if you have the Force or not instead of Jedi having "a feeling" about a certain person. Honestly, I agree with the argument. It would be like saying Jesus was the Christ not because of faith but because he has the right number of chromosomal alleles to be the Christ. Takes the faith factor right out of the equation.

I have always wondered what it was like to have two teams in your city (in the same sport). Philly once had had two baseball teams(The A's) but that was way before my time.

It's kinda cool to have two teams to choose from especially since Cubs games are so damned expensive to go to. Sox games are much cheaper. However, the thing I don't like is the polarization of people that results from having two teams. I'd rather see unified support for one team. If you want more baseball than just one team, go see the minor league teams in the area. We've got a couple of good ones (Kane County Cougars who are single A for the A's and the Schaumburg Flyers but I have no idea who they are minor league for). The Cougars actually play four miles from where I live. A couple years ago, the Cougars were minor league for the Marlins. There was a big billboard outside Elfstrom Stadium where the Cougars play after last year's World Series that had a bunch of the Marlins on it including Pierre and a few others saying "They All Got Their Start Here." Pretty cool even though that same bunch beat our home pro team in the NLCS.

Of course he does, Jimbo. None of us are arguing that point. But there is a difference. If I continue to work on a painting that no one has seen for years and years and completely alter it, it doesn't make a difference because nobody but I have ever seen the thing. With Lucas, millions and millions of people have watched the original versions of his movies so they are part of the public consciousness. We are more than aware of their existence. In fact, many of us prefer them. So, he can change them all he wants, but he should keep copies of the originals out there for us as well. If I had ever displayed that painting of mine for people to see, I would feel obligated to keep copies of my original work out there before I alter it. It's just the decent thing to do for those people who made you the multibillionaire that you are (not that I am one... I can wish).

I agree. But then again, I gave up on having books accurately translated to film years ago. It's been three or four years since I read this book and I'm glad I didn't reread it. I loved the movie. Obviously stuff has to be left out and Cuaron reasoned that he did it because he wanted to focus on one theme and leave the rest out. Rowling agreed. Although she did veto a couple of Cuaron's proposed changes. If you think this translation is bad, wait until HP4 or HP5. Those will be horrible.

I think Cuaron did a fantastic job. I'm trying to think of this as a bit of a stand alone movie and that makes it easier to digest just how radically different everything was in this as opposed to the first two movies. I hated how "rich" and "beautiful" everything was in the first two films. It wasn't what I think of when I imagined Hogwarts while reading the books. This is a castle for chrissakes. It's grey, stone, uninviting, cold. That's how castles are. They are fortresses. They were meant to be a source of defense against opposing armies (or, in this case, wizards, dragons, et al). They are not "pretty". Besides, with as clean a look as Columbus gave the movie, the CGI stood out like a sore thumb. Pitiful effects. Here, the Quidditch match was spectacular. Harry flying on the Hippogriff was just an amazing scene. You get my drift.

Easily the best of the bunch and I am not looking forward to Newell's interpretation in HP4.

I don't think Johannsen could pull off Helen. Sorry Scumb. I know you love her. But she doesn't have that radiance you associate with Helen. Or the universal definition of "beauty". I agree that she's great looking, but not as Helen.

Monica Bellucci on the other hand... yum. She would have been great. But she was a little busy doing some little film about some dude named Jesus or some such around the same time. I heard the movie did modestly at the box office.
