TV on DVD resurrected (kind of)
Time
I don't think Simpsons has run its course. Not as great as it once was? Sure. But not beyond a point where it isn't still funny as hell.

If they want to bring back Futurama, that's cool. I was just stating what I thought I had heard somewhere. Of course Futurama hasn't run its course, it was only on like 3 or 4 seasons. The question is, can they get the original voices back? Leela now has a sitcom she is headlining (8 Simple Rules). It might be tough for her to commit to two. Yeah, I know it's just her voice and that many people do two shows these days. But how many of them headline two shows? I guess she could be replaced, but I just can't imagine Leela with anyone else's voice.

just as an example to his THX packaging... he has written in small print at the bottom "George Lucas Directors Cut" or something like that...

i find it funny that he had to add his name in that and couldnt just label it directors cut...

Well, he added his name to the subhead since he didn't actually direct all three of them. So, he becomes the proxy director of the trilogy by being the one to make all the decisions regarding the THX remastering. That's just my guess. The originals remain the cuts as dictated by the original directors. The THX remastered set is George Lucas' directors cut. Then there's the Special Edition. Then the Super Special Edition. Then the Archival Ultimate Edition. You get my drift.

More CSI news.... There is a chance that Eric Szmanda (Greg) and Paul Guilfoyle (Brass) will have expanded roles this season. Maybe they'll finally make Greg a full-time investigator since he's been training for it on the side since the beginning of last season. Also, Reiko Aylesworth (Michelle Dessler on 24) is joining the cast. She was in place before the firings to work as a lab tech (possibly replacing Szmanda?) and her role may now be expanded as well since she was cut from 24.

For those 24 fans out there, only Kiefer Sutherland is coming back next season from last year's list of regulars. No Aylesworth, no Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeida), no Dennis Haysbert (President Palmer), no James Badge Dale (Chase Edmunds), no Elisha Cuthbert (Kim Bauer - sorry, Jimbo). Apparently, Palmer's political nemesis from last season, Senator Keeler (Geoff Pierson), will be the new President and Jack is no longer working for CTU.

Interesting, no?

Yeah. Pagz covered the issue regarding calling them the Special Editions. It would have to be a new name, but it would have to be labelled somehow. Most everything else gets labelled as such. The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen. The Abyss: The Director's Cut. Aliens: Special Edition. Apocalypse Now Redux. People can tell that they are not the original versions based on the title modifiers. And, for each of those, a version exists without the additional footage. Wow. They made both camps happy, didn't they? Some of the versions may not be the easiest to find anymore, but they do exist.

Well, inside I'm crying. Does that count as emotional harm?

With return policies at stores these days, this ain't gonna happen either. Unless there is a physical defect to the set, they won't accept returns. And, even then, they only exchange it. The only way to return DVDs anymore is if it is still sealed and you have a receipt. But for people to realize it's different, they need to open it.

Gundark, any word on the possibility of lawsuits? You're the legal eagle here.

Not a Star Wars fan. Star Wars is the saga name of all six movies.

Also the Holiday Special is not a Star Wars movie. It is basically a spoof. I haven't seen it but it doesn't look good.

You don't like the originals, you've said so often. You prefer the SEs. Then you are not a fan of Star Wars either.

Hyperspace... is it worth it??
Time
It's not even worth it for U.S. fans anymore. Price is going up if it hasn't already. Rebel Scumb, on this site, had a membership and he allowed me to use his ID to check it out. Not worth the money at all. Hell, I felt like I was getting gypped even though I was paying nothing for it. He has since canceled his membership (mostly due to sheer cost).
