NNNOOOOOOOOO... not Ash...
Time
I really don't want to see an Evil Dead IV. I'm afraid of it being overcommercialized because of this being the "next film from the director of Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2". I don't want those kinds of fans flocking to see Ash. And, because of this potential for commercialization, I doubt Raimi would be able to make it exactly what he'd want it to be.

UK differing 2004 Star Wars Trilogy DVD BoxSet Covers...
Time
Funny thing is that you will likely save $5-10 buying it at Sam's over what the regular price will be elsewhere. However, they still don't usually top the first-week sale prices at stores. I have found Nip/Tuck season 1 at Sam's Club for US$36 and everywhere else it's US$45. I'm sure the initial sale price was below the $36, but I missed the sale. No, I haven't bought it yet, but I know where to go if I want it.

THX 1138 - What a Special Edition SHOULD Be.
Time
I agree that the original version of THX-1138 should be preserved. But what caught me off guard is that the new DVD set has his original student film school version of the movie on it (unaltered). That struck me as odd considering his propensity towards abandoning early "drafts" of his movies.

I actually bought THX-1138 yesterday because, even if I rent the movie from Netflix, I won't be able to get the bonus disc from them with the student film and that's what I'm really in it for. However, I never saw the original version so I won't be able to say whether it improves it or not. I'll just be able to say if it's any good. We shall see. First impulse buy for me in quite a while. Shhh. Don't tell me wife I haven't seen it.

6! You read Lord of the Rings when you were 6? I somehow doubt that!

I don't doubt it. I had a friend who was reading Gone With the Wind for school book reports at 6. That's a pretty tough book for that age. Plus, my old boss has read the LOTR trilogy every five years since she was 6 or 7. Doesn't mean he completely understood it, but it can be done.

Although.... it would be very convenient if I could find a used copy.

Yeah you will. I guarantee it. Even the most popular DVD releases wind up on the Marketplace at Amazon. That's just the nature of the industry. People often times watch a movie once after buying it and sell it. I know a ton of people who just buy a movie on DVD without having ever seen it because they prefer the convenience of ownership to renting it. And with DVD prices the way they are, it's reasonable to do so. Then, when they don't like it, they sell it. As for not caring about it because they don't mind the changes, have you seen the thread with the scifi.com wirepoll? That would indicate otherwise.

And that's what I'm afraid of. Chucky vs. Leprechaun? C'mon! Trying to revive a dead classic and trying to give life to one that never had any. How many of us have seen Leprechaun? Not me, for one.

GACCCKKKKK!!

And, please, no Ash in a movie ever again. Let the Evil Dead movies survive intact.

Yeah, but you gotta admit that his early films are pure examples of how to do a lot with a little. The first two films in the "Mariachi" trilogy are spectacular for these reasons. He's a director that's not afraid to get down and dirty. Plus, he also knows how to bend and break the rules of the Hollywood establishment. Who else can you think of that would do all the editing and CGI work in his garage? Or, in order to secure rights to Sin City, he created a brief scene to show how he would establish the mood and portray the characters and took this to Frank Miller himself instead of just doing the whole script/oral treatment BS that most Hollywood types do. Sin City would still be a pipe dream if not for Rodriguez's creative way of getting it done.

By the way, Mackey, I just looked at your profile and we don't live that far apart. Scarily. You're in Rockford, I live in Geneva. Illinois Represent!

Sorry, hadda do it.

Dude, where's the General Lee?
Time
My wife was addicted to the show. And I wound up watching it with her by default. How does Nick put up with that shit? She must be great in bed. But, then again, the beginning of this past season might imply otherwise...

JS - "You used to open doors for me early in our marriage."
NL - "Yeah? Well early in our marriage, I was getting laid."

Or something to that effect. Cracked me the hell up.
