You matured a bit late, didn't you? JK

I learned to read when I was four years old. Not that I was up to LOTR level by 6 or anything like that, but there are some people that are that capable. Mozart was conducting by six and had written his own music by 8 or some such age. Why is it that unbelievable that someone could have read LOTR by 6? Some people just have a gift.

Disappointing DVD package (re the 2004 OT SE release)
Time
LostIT, I'm glad you held out. You won't regret it honestly. There are several people on this forum offering up bootlegs of the O-OT and they're pretty damned good quality. I've got a set from a guy I haven't seen back on the boards for a while and I'm quite happy with them.

You want to know what I find kinda funny? I was watching VH-1 this past Saturday and they had a special called "When Star Wars Ruled the World". Part of their "Ruled the World" series. It had some great interviews and could easily have been longer than the hour that it actually was. They probably did a better job than LFL.

I hate to say it but, I think RRS is gone for good........

Let's hope it works. Come to mention it, I think Rebel Scumb is gone for good, too.

Pretty good. Not exact. But better than most. Check out the novella sometime. It's only about 150 pages or so.

I don't laugh when I see Kiefer Sutherland because that's what I'm accustomed to from him. However, I get a kick out of seeing Jerry O'Connell (Sliders, Jerry Maguire) in it as Vern. That cracks me up to no end just because of how much he has changed since that time.

Fire hydrants are red here as well. Not underground though. Policemen wear any number of colors on their uniforms. I've seen blue, black, white, and a dark khaki color. It all depends on what kind of cop you're talking about... local, state, county. Cop cars... where to begin... Chevy Caprice, Ford Interceptor, Chevy Camaro, Hummer, and many more I can't think of.

Power Hungry Execs...

This came from IMDb today (9/17)...

Lucas Says That Power-Hungry Execs Hurt Moviemaking
Star Wars creator George Lucas has complained that Hollywood continues to operate under the "Thalberg Syndrome," a reference to Irving Thalberg, the all-powerful studio executive who virtually controlled virtually every movie made at MGM in the 1930s. In an interview with Britain's Guardian newspaper, Lucas remarked that the tendency of middle managers to interpose themselves into productions has resulted in the film industry "making hugely inefficient movies for great amounts of money and they aren't creatively very interesting. Any studio you go to, you're going to find 30 executives working on your picture."

Doesn't Lucas qualify as an Exec insofar as LFL as an organization is concerned? Hmmm....

I also find it funny how he blames middle managers for movies that "aren't creatively very interesting." So, now we know who to really blame for TPM and Howard the Duck. And all this time...

Heh heh.
