What didn't you like about TFA? <em>SPOILERS</em>

I am also understanding that Ren views Darth Vader as the true personality of his grandfather and that reedeemed Anakin was just a corrupted version of him. So even if a force ghost talked to him he might dismiss it as not his true character or some sort of Jedi trickery.

I think it’ll be a schizophrenic ghost of Anakin perhaps showing both his good and dark side.

I don’t think they ever filmed anything with a force ghost to be cut… I thought it was just something thrown around in the early concept art?

I know there’s been talk about it definitely for ep8, where he is going to talk to Ren as force ghost>? From what I’ve read it was in the original script hance the concept art, so yes i don’t think it was actually filmed but it very nearly happened. If they are going to relate to the prequels which they will have to as they are now cannon, this doesn’t bode well for the restoration of the OUT.

Any review is promotion, bad ones will make people want to see it even more to make their own judgment call.

Then no review is valid. So again, what is your point?

The majority of people (i’m not saying you or anyone on here) are susceptible to being manipulated to ‘Like’ a film through the media they consume, they are victims of ideological manipulation. My point is Disney don’t give a shit if they make a decent Star Wars film as has been said they don’t even need people to see the film as they will make more money on the franchise than the actual film.

Disney might not care but I believe JJ definitely cared, and it shows. You will of course disagree and that of course is fine.

He obviously had some foresight to cut Anakin’s force Ghost from the final edit, the film would have been crucified.

I am not a moderator here but I’m quite sure you will never be banned for simply expressing an opinion on a film.

Although insisting TFA is worse than the prequels probably walks the line. 😉

I’d put TFA at an equal footing with TPM, I never said the prequels were better, how could I and if I did I was definitely being sarcastic.

I’ve noticed that the general sentiment at other forums like TheForce.net is not as positive about TFA, and the list of critiques I posted here I posted there, and people were far more receptive.

Interesting. I suspected that the demographic here, in a forum seemingly devoted to the OT, would be a bit more receptive to critiques of TFA. I am also surprised to have been called an “OT fanboy” on an OT forum. But, hey, stranger things happen all the time.

I fell foul to this, this forum is seemingly only labeled original trilogy because they tell me it was formed to try and force the restoration of the original theatrical versions, presumably hoping they would be released on Blu Ray? Which, now Disney own it, will DEFINITELY happen. That’s where it ends. I joined (hoping) thinking this forum was full of OT purists, not so. But being called an OT fanboy was amusing and i’m really surprised they are so receptive towards the new installment considering it’s obvious faults.

This forum is full of people who love the OT and want the original versions released. It’s also full of people who like the prequels, hate the prequels, love ROTJ, hate ROTJ, love ANH and don’t care one bit about ESB…there’s no “everyone thinks alike” mentality here.

Which, by the way, is what you used to find on TheForce.net. I don’t know what has changed at TF.N, but prior to TFA, you weren’t allowed to dislike anything about any Star Wars there, including the prequels. People were banned for talking about the prequels the way you have been talking about TFA (and I’m not saying you shouldn’t be allowed to talk about TFA any way you want, so don’t go twisting that around).

I was banned after a few posts regarding the prequels at TFN, so thank you for not banning me (yet) for my opinions which are and I agree sometimes irrational but I am aggrieved at seeing yet another (in my opinion) failed attempt at a Star wars film.

No new star wars film will EVER match ESB…I don’t understand TFA? If the film was good these negative posts and nitpicking wouldn’t exist. Try and find a bad review pulling Esb to bits. Type problems with tfa in Google and you’ll read pretty much everything mentioned on this site.

http://www.nytimes.com/library/film/061580empire.html

here’s some links with regards to TFA problems

https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=the problem with the force awakens
https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=force+awakens+disappointing

Well one of those links took me to an article with Samuel L Jackson saying he didn’t like the lightsaber fighting in TFA because it wasn’t as good as the ones in the prequels.

even the Vatican hated it http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/12/star-wars-the-force-awakens-vatican-review and some crtics had the balls to say what a few think http://www.thewrap.com/star-wars-the-force-awakens-negative-reviews/

Lol and the critics who liked it all don’t have balls and are all lying because they are scared of what exactly?

Fan hate mail I’d suppose or just general corporate sheep who have been paid to market SW.

Hilarious.

As the actors do, you’ll rarely see an actor say a film is crap pre-release.

True. But you brought up critics, not actors.

Are you trying to say the media isn’t focused on promoting a specific product? Critics (journalists) advertising, interviews are all geared at promotion. Remember when News Corp had SW, they did a brilliant marketing job and the prequels were shocking, but there were good reviews everywhere at the time of release, the darkest ever etc NEWS Corp owns half (exaggerated) the world’s media.

By your logic, critics that hated something are just hating it for the clicks. Which invalidates your LA Times article.

Honestly I have no idea what your point is here. If it’s that people who liked it are lying and people who hated it are heroes, well then I leave you to your theories.

JEDIT: LOL Bunny Tower

“watching “The Force Awakens,” I felt as though I was being shown a trailer for the next four movies in the series”.

This review is closer to my own experience…the sensation that I had been manipulated into paying to see an encore performance…

exactly ideological manipulation of the masses.

Since I’m here, I may as well get the following off my chest:

While I’m still predisposed to regarding TFA as uninspired brouhaha, Bosk and Smoking Lizard have left me feeling way more sympathetic towards the film than I would have otherwise. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone bend over as far backwards as they to find reasons to loathe something, and I’ve done plenty of backward-bending in my time.

I mean, this right here says more about Bosk and Smoking Lizard than I could ever possibly say.

I didn’t need to bend over to see what I actually saw on the screen, which in MY opinion is a terrible film. I’m not trying to justify it to myself merely enlighten the nieve that think it’s actually a good film bu outlining my own reasons for disliking it, which I may add are now echoed all over the net so it’s not just me!

Edit. Having read Disney are planning to release a star wars film every year until it runs dry, they will absolutely rinse it for all its worth… Maybe we will get a good film out of the many to come… I doubt it.

Okay it lands in a melted state and Rey finds it on her scavenging travels, not realising what it is, repairs it and makes it more powerful and then becomes intrigued with the force and the backstories and realises she has a natural ability with the saber, yet to realise that she is indeed force sensitive.

Or she just finds it one day partially buried in the dirt. We don’t know whose it was. Some Jedi, maybe, who died in the Clone Wars, or something. Its origin is unknown. She finds it one day, and it changes her life.

Cue the ‘helper’ whilst selling the crap she collects another strange hooded seller notices the saber on her belt as does the bar seller who asks to buy it, she refuses, he contacts his associates (as in TFA with BB8) to get the saber. A she walks away we see an attempt to take the saber from Rey thwarted by the mystery character who produces a light saber and strikes them down. First she feels threatened, until the mystery character assures her she is safe.

I think I actually preferred the leaked idea that the opening shot was a light saber spinning in space and then landing in Jakku (Superman), where Rey is scavenging and notices the impact and goes to investigate.

I actually really like your idea – Rey is still of very humble origins, she’s scavenging one day, finds a lightsaber, ignites it. She’s heard the stories of the Jedi and the heroics of Luke Skywalker…she becomes intrigued…that, actually, has the makings of a really, really good story.

Cheers , I ripped off Superman
