The new one looks more sandy. No wonder Vader stayed on the ship.

I’ve just finished watching and while it isn’t perfect it was clearly tarketed by the AntiWoke brigade. I would remove the established characters completely and go for a more linear approach if I were to turn it into a movie. Some of the younger Jedi give less than stellar performances. I would trim them out. The senator subplot goes nowhere so I’d remove that. Remove all location names. It was so off putting.

No worries. Sometimes a pause to think how a difficult idea could be realised generates new thinking.

Something I never noticed before but during the deleted scene with Padme’s family the actress playing her sister is doing very weird stuff to her food. Maybe they eat differently on Naboo but that would certainly be worth fixing.

I think what you may be unaware of TDS is that everyone starts out with ideas, but it’s important to measure those against practicality. When I came up with this thread (too scared to look). The ethos was to think outside the confines of what is obviously doable (though by no means easy) such as trims and adding deleted content and come up with ideas that really shake the prequels up and make them closer to the sort of films a viewer from 1983 would have anticipated.
There are some really great ideas in these many pages. Some that would have been very close to impossible when the thread began are now possibly doable thanks to AI voices and deep fake technology married with the ancient arts of model making and acting. This thread has always been and hopefully shall remain a place were imagination and ideas are more prominent than solutions (though both are encouraged). It is nice to see it still going.

My feelings about that console on the Executor bridge are well known. (same goes for the shutters being closed to the corridor leading off it) I’m guessing the set wasn’t entirely preserved between ESB and ROTJ. I would prefer the Tydirium code scene to be shifted to the console seen in ESB where the Hoth generator is identified. But early days still. Colours, colors and collars looking good. I’ve asked elsewhere but PayPal isn’t playing nicely with my bank. Is there an alternative to make donations like direct transfer?

Basic edits that might have helped more.

I would have had the theatrical Ripley death. The one seen in the assembly cut looks like an action figure. And the way Ripley embraces the doomed Queen makes it look she has even gained compassion for the thing that has killed her friends and ruined her life.

I would heavily trim the expletives so they they sound more naturally derived from the situations the characters are in. They often feel forced.

The “ass end of space” speech needs a bit of attention. It always sounded like Ripley is winking at the audience and acknowledging she is in the final part of a trilogy.
“it was crew expendable” I would change to “my crew was expendible” for example. Making it more about her experience and less about the film series. Generally the dialogue nerds to sound like how real people speak and less portentious. “what sort of animal would do this to a dog” needs to sound a little less like a quiz host announcing a prize.

If there is a music free track I would remove some of the repeating themes. It’s not a bad score but too much of it is reused.

I would cut the Narcissus radio message. Instead I’d go back to the ox and have a 3rd chest buster come out. Sure it’s cheese worthy of an Elm Street movie but it makes sense story wise and isn’t another Romulus style call back.

The big fixes would obviously be replacing the rod puppet which always looks bad and maybe making the face hugger into the queen face hugger somehow to explain how more than one embryo was implanted.

That’s my thoughts.

It’s still a great but flawed movie.

I finally saw this in my Quest 2 as for some reason most of my devices still won’t play it. Forbtge first time the fire and the lead works scenes made actual sense. I would have trimmed or moved a few more exchanges.

Star Wars teaches us that death is not the end it’s just a different journey. As much as I dislike the PT Hayden is still carrying the torch for the character. Weird as it is JEJ gave living consent to continue to use his voice model. I think if there are real actors providing the framework on which that model is built it would be a suitable legacy for the character. I think the important thing is to defend David Prowse’s memory as JEJ did. It infuriates me when people mock him. Prowse, JEJ, Sebastian Shaw, and Bob Anderson were the Vader we grew up with. It took 5 people to play that one role in the past. It only makes sense that more people will carry that memory on.

With the new Alia scene found and updates to AI restoration and sound generation is a cleaner and slightly longer version possible? The Alia scene adds so much to the film. An astonishing performance from such a young actress.

I’d put it just above AvP2 which is a shame as there are some great sequences like the zero G acid avoidance dance. I just didn’t give a damn about the characters. I spent the whole time wanting to see the backstory instead. Everytime the film returned to Rook I was lifted out of the story. Because it made no sense him looking like Ash. Unlike Tarkin in Rogue One which looked just as bad but at least we know Tarkin would have been in that part of the story. It’s just another example of a film lacking the courage to stand on its own feet. There have been lots if Rogue One edits that take out all those unneeded elements. And the film works so much better without them.

Oh yes… THAT line is up there with Spock yelling “KHAN!!!” in Star Trek Into Darkness for utter uncontrollable cringe.

I think the characterisation on Jar Jar is good. It reminds me of George’s original intention for Threepio (used car salesman). Now we have to do something about Obi-Wan’s racism😁

After seeing the film at the weekend and liking some but not much of it I thought it would be a good idea to post possible ways of rescuing this dumpster fire

Obviously remove all vocal callbacks to the other films (Expecially THAT one).

Add more damage to Rook so he looks less obviously like a wonky digitally enhanced puppet of Ian Holm. Ash was meant to be an infiltration unit so making Rook look exactly the same makes zero sense. Considering the purpose of the Romulus lab maybe replacing him with a very damaged (think Bishop in Alien 3) version of a David.
Make Rook deactivate once Andy has his chip.
That might mean moving some scenes around but make the changes to Andy more threatening by having his internal conflict the problem.

Cut the scene where Rain duplicates Rey’s bartering scene from The Force Awakens. Yes it reminds us of how scummy The Company is but after watching the first film we already know this. It’s enough to know the kids will probably die like their parents if the don’t leave.

Have the chestbuster that comes out of Navarro die of exhaustion. It’s had seconds to gestate. Not sure what to do with the wall vagina. I suppose it could be a different alien. This is a thread so new suggestions are welcome.

These are my first thoughts. It’s such a shame they didn’t film the back story instead. The research team finding the original Alien had so much potential.
