Great movies you hate.

Superman '78 comes instantly to mind. Aside from the Smallville scenes and Reeve’s performance whenever he’s not wearing glasses, I utterly despise the entire movie.

I almost feel the same way about Superman II, but Terence Stamp’s hammy performance elevates it to tolerable levels.

Both films are really good but the first is a classic almost on par with the first two Star Wars films and Raiders so 🌍🌎🌏🔄🕛🕧🕐🕜🕑🕝🕒🕞🕓🕟🕔🕠🕕🕡🕖🕢🕗🕣🕘🕤🕙🕥🕚🕦🕚

As someone who has lost loved ones to Cancer (not Ebola yet but anything can happen) it’s a poor choice of words however like the equally incendiary uses of the word rape it is valid within the English language.

Both may be valid but I don’t think either is appropriate.

I think it’s a cultural thing because both words in their original use are still in parlance in the UK but in the USA I think rape is exclusively associated with sexual rape and cancer is exclusively associated with the disease. I’ve explained that in the UK the words Spastic and Spaz are shockingly offensive. Rape still evokes sexual rape when used in the UK but it’s original meaning “to spoil or contaminate” is still very common. Cancer however is either a disease or a star sign. We would more likely use the more archaic Canker or Cankerous instead of the context of the thread title.

What 'a Star Wars Story' / anthology / spinoff film would you like to see?
Time

A film like All The President’s Men or House of Cards about a the attempts to uncover “corruption in the Senate” written by someone who can write might work.
It could be fun to have lots of The Thick Of It/Veep style backroom satirical comedy mashed in while the dry boring debates of the PT take place in the background.

It is common to talk of concrete cancer being the fast deterioration of badly constructed concrete structures or to refer to a blot on the landscape as a canker (same root as cancer). The word itself stems from the side growing nature of tumors (moving like a crab) which is why the star sign of the crab is also called Cancer.
So it comes down to personal choice are pylons a cankerous rape of the countryside?
Perhaps.
Perhaps the shock value of using the word in such a mundane context reduces the currency of language.
Personally I’m not in a mad rush to be offended but I can see how on a bad day someone dealing with the disease and the fallout from it would be justifiably offended.

It’s your words.

Maybe as your brain is a component of your body getting your body tired gets your brain too tired to obsess too much. Since taking on my current role involves a lot of travel and planning I don’t have enough time or energy to ruminate too deeply on my domestic situation so I actually have a more positive outlook these days. Try sneaking more physical activity into your work day and see if that tires you physically enough to get a good evening in. Just taking the stairs where possible could make the difference.

What do you guys think of this one?

That’s pretty neat.

BTW, on the free trial videos, I liked the Hand Drawn one more… and I think worst case scenario the watermark would sort of add to the humor, like if it wasn’t already obvious enough that you’d messed with the video you have a gigantic watermark exclaiming that you’ve done some special "FX" to it.

But really, screw the software purchase, I think you’ll find something good enough. What you just posted is very promising, for instance.

Instead of “a long time ago in a galaxy ricdiculous by far…” you could extol the virtues of this episode having sequences filmed in Exciting XOvision an amazing new technology that lets you actually feel like you give a damn (if you wear the special goggles available in the foyer ONLY $99.99). Or a joke along those lines which is funny or something.

Having good and bad days during the early stages of a new round of medicines is expected. I can say don’t worry about it, don’t worry about it (<see😉). You will worry but you don’t need to and knowing that might take the edge of it.

Don’t have the new meds yet. My prescribing doc called today and says she’ll check my chart and call back tomorrow about spiking up the dosage.

I apologise, when you talked about upping the dose I thought you had started taking the medication. Bear what I said in mind when you start the medication then. Your body will need to adjust to the change so you will probably continue to have changeable days.

A Monkey King Picture-Story Book Which Greatly Influenced 1960s China
Time

Thank you for posting that. I’m a big fan of Journey to the West but I had never heard of this adventure with the same characters. Thanks to you I will investigate it more. Just one suggestion. You currently have three posts. One a place holder and the other an accidental post of the markdown syntax message. I suggest you break your original post into three. Copy and paste the second third into one post and the third into the last. If you can dig out some of the illustrations they will also break up the text and make the information easier to digest. A big wall of text on a phone or laptop can be very intimidating and there is lots of interesting things to be found in your big post. Cheers.
