 That doesn't sound right. Fox never got close to 100% of the money from the current releases, only a distribution cut. Why would they get so much more now? 

Right now the only way to get it is with their weird disc-to-digital upgrade thing. (You put the DVD in your computer, the vudu app verifies that you own it and then you can get the HD version for 5 bucks.) I don't have my copy of CONAN anymore that's why I was wondering if anyone else tried this.

The Warriors on vudu is definitely the original and looks great, just watched a bit of it at a friends. Not sure about the mix. 

Does anybody know which version they have on Vudu? I only bring it up because apparently The Outsiders, The Warriors, Kingdom of Heaven, Stripes and Miami Vice are theatrical versions, in contrast to their respective blu-rays.

It's not about meeting a quota of models built per movie. It's about your eyeballs looking at some kind of digital effect for virtually the entire 6 hours, regardless of whether some miniatures comprise some of the elements within shots.

Not much help, but I do remember seeing a bootleg that had blue letterboxing, (pretty sure it was SUPERMAN Or possibly BLACK HOLE.)

I would give Spielberg and Ron Howard the credit for Indy and Willow having some actual effort put into the transfer. 

It's great if young people like them better. But this idea that it's this big generational divide feels phony, like a lazy, easy leap to make in the tiny echo chamber of internet star warsies and especially the people who need to create content to write about. Pop culture is youth driven and a small handful of bitter old guys cant make it seem like I-III are mostly a punchline. They don't have that power, it never happens that way.

I think its progress just having something official and purely promotional even acknowledge the existence of an original version.

I missed part of it but there was a lot of good stuff in there. It made me wonder if its possible to simulate, side by side, the differences in the look of an IB print vs. an ideal opening day Kodak print. 

The fact that all the hundreds of crawls were chopped off and replaced in 81 is pretty crazy. I guess it explains why they had an original lying around for the 2006 DVD, they must have a box of them. Although I picture GL wearing them like the severed ear necklace in Universal Soldier.

Even just a close up insert of greedo's finger starting to squeeze the trigger would have made the same self-defense point GL was allegedly going for. 

And to differentiate it on store shelves from the originals, there were still plenty around from '95. 

The '97 certainly started out as an honest restoration, which the movie needed, even the original plan of a few shots wouldn't have been unreasonable, but then turned into a perfect storm of drunken digital crayon mayhem and classic movies being used as R&D. The lameness of the blu-rays is probably just basic cheapness.

Well I'm glad that's settled. 

I remember that from my '89 laserdisc, ironically the one that gets too tight at the top later in the movie.

I think all of our little rules about what makes it good/not good, should/must/can never happen, have to go in the trash. We're looking at maybe EIGHT movies in ten years, it's a totally new animal now. The director will have to just go with his gut and ignore us or it'll be a total clown show.

I like the idea of using Luke, Han etc., they're going to be cranking these movies out every year for the rest of our near-future , might as well see the old gang for one of them, still plenty of time to introduce the new characters. The fans were going to have a cow either way, so why not.

I will admit even though i found a few episodes here and  there amusing,i never really watched any full seasons after the early years. 

In fact the only thing i really watched religiously was treehouse of horror specials and taped every one up til about 1995.

I also lost quite a few quarters on the arcade.  But i never was a giant fan.

I did like the Mark Hamill episode though Mayored to the mob.

I was home for Christmas and they're all still there. Getting oddly yellow and rubbery though, even though they are put away. It's nice but totally depressing at the same time. And I was sure I had a full set but I realized there are 5 or 6 i never got.
