It would be a nice surprise if this turned out to be yet another promotional poster and Struzan did the final one sheet.

That would be nice, but I think what we have is the official one sheet. I bet struzan is not surprised in the least that this happened. Disney had done this to him many times in the past. I bet they used his comps as a reference to make the official photoshop one sheet.

After seeing the trailer I also wondered about who was responsible for the new trailer’s music. The piano notes that played during the first few shots did not feel at all like William’s or Star Wars to me. At first I thought it was tracked music from some other recent score. Good to know that may not even be heard in the film. I’m not resistant to new themes, styles or composers in the stand alone films, as long as it’s not jarring or bland. I just listed to the soundtrack of “Superman Returns” the other day, and that was a great blend of John Williams’s established themes interwoven with a new original score by a different composer. I feel that Superman II-IV all did a good job in that respect. Again, I’m not worried as long as it’s a good composer / arranger working on theses stand alone films.

The trailer music was done by a group of people, and it’s been revealed that Frederick Lloyd and John Samuel Hanson are 2 people from this group.Frederick Lloyd says he has contributed music to the latter half of the trailer, namely the “Force Theme,” while John Samuel Hanson of Confidential Music worked on the first half of the trailer music. It’s still unknown who the others are.

As an article I was reading today pointed out, Disney is really going after the younger audience with the marketing.

To them, that’s what a Star Wars poster looks like.

Struzan has already confirmed that he has done more stuff, and not just the D23 poster, and he was in line to do the official one sheet. So I’m hoping we get to see some of the other concepts he finished. I guess time will tell.

Nice Clip Ady. Not too often you release a clip that 100% complete for the visual FX. The evening cloud vistas looked awesome. Alot better than the original. Watched this on a huge screen. Detail was superb for 720p. I actually prefer stand alone clips rather than the side by side comparisons where the resolution is alot less. Are you still going to modify the ending shot of the rebel fleet?

The new clip does look great, and now after watching it on a much bigger screen, I haft to agree that the spider is little bit distracting.  The focus of the shot is clearly on the X-wing because it's the brightest thing on screen. And having something as big at the spider pulling the attention away is not a good idea. And I don't agree with making the spider darker and covering it up with fog. Whats the point in doing that?  IMO, All this shot needs is to be cut into 2 parts. One for the spider and environment alone, and one for the x-wing. This shouldn't be to hard of a fix. I know suggestions are closed so I hope you can understand ady.

No one is wishing for some obscure release for this edit. Ady is most likely going to release this some time next year. However, Ady still has HIC to finish, the wampa suit to complete, the extension set piece for the HOTH hanger, not to mention the Dagobah set piece, and who knows what else he has that he hasn't told us about. Then he has to film and composite. If he can get it all done by next summer then fantastic, but if he cant, then I'm hoping fr a release thats closer to Starwars 7, and if Ady is still working on Empire:Revisited and Disney does release the OUT sometime next year, then there could be a Gem or 2 that Ady could use on the edit.

There might have already been a deal worked out between Disney and Fox. Filmdivider.com found an Italian ad ( no longer working ) where Disney Plans to reissue all six Starwars films through a Disney digital release soon. Now this doesn't necessarily mean a release of the OUT, it just means Disney plans to release the movies via Disney Digital services. The Italian add used clips from A New Hope.

And then there is the question of Reliance Media and the rumor of the new 4k transfer of the Original Trilogy, of which their Demo real showed clips of a pre special edition A New Hope in HD.

I kinda hope he delays it until late next year because if the unaltered Original Trilogy is indeed released next year, on Blu-ray as rumors suggest, then Ady could use elements from that release. But if he decides to release May of next year, then I still have no objections.

I wish Gary Kurtz himself would comment directly on Ady's facebook page. After all he was the producer of Empire Strikes Back. Seeing that instead of Peter Briggs quote Kurts would have been even better to see IMO.

Anyway, just knowing Kurtz has seen clips of ESB:R is still pretty awesome.

Contgrats ADY!

I had no problem downloading from firefox. Took me about 3 min.

Anyway, the new canyon shot looked great Ady. I also liked the dirt that the tie fighters lazers blasted up. I didn't care to much for camera shake when the star destroyers scraped against each other. It just didn't feel natural in my opinion.

Everything else looked great. Amazing job Ady!

Most modern monitors will allow you to change the color settings including gamma. Or if you have a calibrator you can give it a target like rec 709: However, if Ady has two monitors, he can change one of them and view on one. Also The chromaticity for sRGB and rec 709 are pretty much the same I believe. rec 709 is closer to film gamma.

Most people don't worry too much about the monitor color space so don't be offended if most people don't care.  Though it would be interesting to hear from Ady regarding this.

Edit:  Windows 7 and 8 have 10 Bit output support via nVidia Quadro cards.

Adobe After Effects ( not shure which version he has now ) is what Ady uses for most all of his FX work/ compositing, including the color correction. Ady is going off of a 16mm print of the OUT for the color correction of ESB:RE. Ady's PC Monitor is properly calibrated to the SMPTE standards. Ady's Empire: Revisited project is sourced from the Blu-rays, and you must own the Blue-rays before you can download this edit, when it becomes available.

I believe Ady was still working on the Emperors dialog with Vader when he posted the last clip. The FX work was complete, it was down to one word that ady was trying to find resources for. He was trying to find  Ian saying "LUKE" so he could restore the original line that the Emporer spoke when referring to Skywalker. Originally the Emporer said "Luke Skywalker". But for the 2004 special editions it was changed to "Young Skywalker". Don't know If Ady managed to restore the original line or not.

Saw the clip Ady, great job! Noticed lots of new changes.  The Steady Rogue Three line has improved alot, but still the delivery of the "three" is still a little off. Just a suggestion, why not just change scene to wedge while that line is delivered. Just let luke be heard while we see wedge instead of showing luke say it, and you can make make the audio sound more like it's coming from a speaker.

Just a suggestion.

Anakin NEVER referred to as Vader and Vader will be the one storming the Jedi Temple, not Anakin ( and no youngling slaughter either). If things plan out how i envision then you won't know that Anakin and Vader are one and the same until ESB

Anakin's turn to the dark side will not have anything to do with the thought of Padme dying in childbirth. It will be switched back to the original storyline that George even started filming, that it will be a seduction of power.

It would be cool to see the the original Ralph McQuarrie rendition of Vader storm the jedi temple. I think Lucas revealing the already established look of Vader in Episode 3 was a big mistake. He should have had a different look to him as did the clone troopers, they were the precursors to the storm troopers. Vader should go the same way. Also the fight between Anakin and obiwan in Episode 3 went far to long. I'd say it only needs to be half as long at most.

I'm in total agreement of 3P0. He needs to be attached to Amidala/Padme. And he needs to be fully covered.
