Star Wars Ewok Adventures - double feature DVD (2004) - official release
Time

I bought the Star Wars Ewok Adventures DVD (Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor).

It is in 4:3 and that’s the only version I could find. Is there a 2.35:1 version available or just the 4:3?

Mod Edit: For info, there is also a general discussion thread for both Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor, here…

THX Ultimate Demo Disc
Time
I just got the THX Ultimate Demo Disc. It also contains the phantom menace podrace in DTS!?!?!?! It really is nice a demo disc in DTS, but why does one show the podrace in DTS when you can't buy the movie in DTS!!! It's a bit weird having a demo and not having the real product in the same quality. Or am I missing something and can I get the Star Wars movies with DTS sound?

Info & Help: looking for... other ld-rips to dvd movies ex. blade runner int cut, songs of the south, frighteners dir cut - and much much more...
Time
he is referring to the international cut, also known as the criterion,it has extra footage(mostly added violence to the scenes and a different ending) and it has the original deckard(Harrison Ford)narration throughout the entire movie, much better version than the directors cut, this version sucks and you would think the directors cut would mean its better, but not in this case.
dark jedi

Is the criterion LD version the same as the international DVD version? If so why would you make an LD to DVD transfer when you can get the DVD already?

There are a lot of people who don't own widescreen televisions and for those cases, letterbox will be ideal. Your claim of non-anamorphic material being "always inferior" is a simplistic and somewhat naive opinion.

I'm trying to say the image being letterboxed has nothing to do with 16:9, 4:3 or anamoprhic.
I'm also trying to say an 16:9 image (whether or not anamorphic) can be viewed in the right aspect ratio on a 4:3 tv, but a fullscreen image ( in this case 4:3/fullscreen, 2.35:1 letterboxed) can't be viewed in the right aspect ratio on a 16:9 tv. So go for 16:9 anamorphic, then everybody can view it in the right aspect ratio no matter their tv.

Well I think anamorphic is ALWAYS better since it can also be viewed normally on a 4:3 tv (don't say it looks vertically stretched, just "tell" your dvd player you have a 4:3 tv) and fullscreen can't be viewed normally on a 16:9 tv (unless you zoom or something). Besides you either can't see the difference or it looks better. Some people seem to think it has something to do with the picture being letterboxed, well it doesn't (although a 2.35:1 / 4:3 image is "more" letterboxed then a 2.35 / 16:9 image) see below!

THESE ARE NO IMAGES FROM THE X0 CAPTURE! (offcourse I don't need to tell you because the difference is clearly vissible).

4:3 Image

16:9 Image

16:9 Anamorphic Image (=16:9 image stretched vertically to 4:3)

Also, an 800 x 600 movie looks better on a 1024 x 876 projector than on a 800 x 600 projector.

Am I off topic???

The Cowclops Transfers (a.k.a. the PCM audio DVD's, Row47 set) Info and Feedback Thread (Released)

Cowclops, can you make a few screenshots of the avi, the low bitrate mpeg and the high bitrate mpeg for comparison? I think your screenshots look good but I'd say there a compression artifacts visible around sharp edges (bobafett's gun etc.) and in large blocks of the same color (sky etc.). Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate your efforts and I'm really looking forward to your set. I know you have said many times the quality doesn't go down with the low bitrate but I can't believe it and it's not what I experience when coding movies of my own. Even if quality goes down by only a few percent it might still be visible.
