LOST
Time
But I guess enough people still watch it that ABC has been talking about stretching it out to seven seasons.

That long?!? They are nuts. There is no master plan for this series, they make the story up as they go along. They are stretching it way too much and I think that makes it more difficult to present a reasonable explanation of what the hell is going on on that island. This series starts to look like season 3 of prison break where they are still trying to get out of prison.

Organ donation
Time
If you want to be an organ donor, don't watch "Meaning of Life".
I have that movie but I can't recall anything concerning organ donors...

I'm not. My dad was. When he died, the doctors tried to just take all of his organs that might be used in transplants, regardless of whether they were going to be useful or not. They were just going to figure it out after they got them out. My mom overheard the doctors jovially joking about this. She stopped them from taking everything, and I think she let them take his heart because they knew it was healthy and it could be used for a transplant.

Wow, that must have been extremely difficult for your mom. I know doctors sometimes joke about horrible things as a way to deal with death they face every day but I doubt that's the case here.

Most of the time, after the organ and tissue companies come through, the body is left in scraps.

Are you serious? The family receives a heap of flesh? How long can it take to sow the body up? They do that after an autopsy, right? So why can't they do that for someone who has just donated his organs so other people can live?

I haven't made up my mind yet about how I feel about organ donation but I think it would be easier for your family if a doctor doesn't have to ask them to make a dicision. So I would like to hear how you feel about it. Are you an organ donor? Why? I hope to see this issue from a perspective I would not have considered myself.

He believed in Spinoza's God.

Theories are much easier to believe if they don't contradict your religion aren't they?

Edit: Evolution is not taught as fact, if it is, it shouldn't be. That's why we call it evolution theory. Since it's already called theory I don't think it needs an extra disclaimer.
Biological theories are constantly updated because more and more discoveries are being made. Even my immunology book of 2003 is severely outdated. I wouldn't say it contains lies but it misses a lot of information according to todays standards.

Edit 2:
True there is evidence, but never the less, like some people believe about god, it is a theory. Not absolute fact.

I don't think we have a difference of opinion

Hear, hear! It's shit like that, and all the dame intervening screens "Disney DVD", "Upcoming Films", blah, blah, blah, that make me make copies of my legitimately bought Disney DVDs, so my children and I don't have to go through them every single fucking time we play them.

Whatever happened to autostarters, like Waterworld.

What's even more ironic, most pirated dvds have the forced logos removed.

Which ones are those?

Hehe... all of them.

Most of my dvds (about 300) are store bought dvds. What bothers me is that the industry acts as if every downloaded dvd stands for the exact money they missed. Well, I hated the animated series of x-men. So I didn't want to see the movie(s). But downloaded x-men 1 from a torrent site a long time ago to give it a shot. I actually liked the movie so I bought the special edition 2 disc set in stores. Because I liked x-men 1 I went to see x-men 2 and 3 in cinemas + I bought them on dvd. This would not have happened if I didn't had the chance to download number 1 in the first place.

WESHALPRESERVE, do you believe the following:
- supernovas?

- theory of relativity?
- the absolute zero point?
- atoms and quantum mechanics?
- that there's so much energy stored inside atoms that you can create a massive explosion when you split some?
- that there's actually invisible radiation like radio waves?
- galaxies?
- the speed of light?
- that it takes the light 80000 - 100000 years to cross our galaxy?

That's not what I meant. I meant from 12-14 years ON they can be exposed to the different theories/religions. If you start any earlier they will just accept what's thrown at them and not what they decided on their own. But maybe 18 is a better age. Before that, no religion and no evolution theory.
If you think 12-14 is too young why is it OK to go to church from the day you are born and be told that religion is the only true belief?

Well, why should evolution be taught as fact in the school? If it is a THEORY, which it is, don't I, (as a 14 year old "ignorant" student of the public education) have the right to hear other theory? Its disgusting the way this is taught. At least my 8th grade teacher had the balls to say "Well, I have to teach this to you, but for the record, I do not believe in it. That is all that is going to be said"--Like, I mean, can I as a kid have some sort of disclaimer warning me that this is not fact? Just a theory?

Like every time you go to church the reverend has to say: "all that I'm going to say is not fact, it's just a theory"? Children who go to church go there because their parents want to. Not because they want to. They are brainwashed from a very early age. I think you should not confront children with evolution or religion until they are 12-14 and than show them both theories so they can make up their own mind.

Thats so stupid.Do you honestly think todays 12-14 year olds are competent and even understand a fiber of this debate. That is just fucking unbelievable---You must not know how the average 12-14 year old is. This is very funny.
You must have a very sad life from what I am reading. Jesus Christ.

You are 14. So you are actually saying you don't understand the debate. Oh right, you are not the average 14 year old... But you are right, the age should be upped to 18. Dude, you want a disclaimer for the evolution theory! And you go crazy when I try to show you the issue from the other point of view. Seriously, you must already be brainwashed from what I am reading And why would I have a sad life?

I bet he thinks that about people who aren't religous.

I guess...

As far as kids being brainwashed in Church, that is an interesting idea. What do you define as being brainwashed? If teaching evolution in school is also brainwashing, then I suppose brainwashing is a very common practice in our world. I myself prefer the term teaching.

I think we need to be teaching our children to be free thinking. If our children believe in God merely because they are told to by their parents, then they hardly believe in God at all do they? It is more of a tradition than a belief. If they go through their whole life beliving in God just because of what they were taught as a child, then it is a very empty and easily broken belief. The same goes for unprovable scientific theories. If it is to be believed simply because it is what we have been taught, then it is an empty belief.
Brainwashing might be a bit exaggerated but when you have been raised with religion it's not so easy to get out of it I think. You believe there's a creator, that there's someone protecting you and looking after you. When you die you think you go to heaven. There's a whole community of people who think the same as you and you feel welcome and at home.
If that's the case it's almost impossible to let go of this "lifestyle". You don't want to accept that maybe there's no God, maybe you won't go to heaven when you die. When people said to you all your life there's a God and a heaven than it's very difficult to let go of that believe because the alternative is not nearly as appealing.

On top of that I have studied the Bible through and through and I have studied other acient documents and have never found anything remotely as impressive as the Bible. The Bible truely is one of a kind.

Is there any part in particular that's special or a part that you think everybody should have read? I don't plan to read the whole Bible but if there a small part you could recommend I would like to read it.
Do you also know if and where in the Bible "hell" is described?

OST audio volume

Yes, a bit of dynamic range is good. But sometimes it's a bit to wide. When I'm watching a movie I set the volume so that I can hear the normal speech ok. But when I do that I get blown out of my seat in some action scenes.
I always feel gunshots are much too low. Like shooting a shotgun inside a home or something, it sounds like "plop" when it should be KABOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I love the scene in Kill Bill vol. 2 when they nail the coffin to burry "kiddo". That's how loud they should make gunshots.

OST audio volume

I never noticed that. Is that the case for the OOT OST or the SE OST?

I think soundtracks that have a collection of songs from different musicians are mastered at a "normal" volume. But if the music is written by just 1 composer especially for the movie the audio volume is just too low for my taste (like "legends of the fall" or "the last of the mohicans", I really have to crank up the volume).
