I read Michael Bay is pretty pissed at Paramount. He wants people to be able to view his movies in the best possible quality. He even threatened to not make Transformers 2 if Paramount goes (stays?) HD-DVD only.

I believe the X0 team has been working on all 3 movies at the same time. They will realease the entire trilogy in one go just before the forum will be updated with new software.

Is "[tease][/tease]" an actual function in the new software?

But Philips and Sony decided one disc should be able to contain Beethoven's 9th symphony (which is 74 min.) so playing time was strectched to 74 minutes (120mm). Also the size of the hole is based on a 10 (guilder)cent coin from Holland (one of the inventors of the CD is from Holland).

Still, I feel MP3 is a step back. I also don't understand why downloadable albums are so popular, compressed shit whithout case, cover, booklet and nice shiny compact disc that will last a lifetime if handled with care.

I don't like 5.1 music. I like stereo. Compact Disc audio is perfect to me. Happy 25th birthday, Compact Disc!

I don't remember what my first CD was but probably an Aerosmith or Bon Jovi album.

So a PS3 can play every blu-ray movie?

So the movies on the Blu-ray or HD-DVD formats can vary from 480i to 1080p but does anyone know what the framerate specifications are? It would be so cool if all movies would be 24fps 1080p. No more freaking NTSC jaggies and PAL speedup!

Is Blu-ray really dominant? I really hope so! I think if the companies got together in the first place and decided on one format, players would be much cheaper. Plus with all these format exclusive titles who wants a player that can only play one format?

Lately I stopped buying movies on DVD because I don't want to have to rebuy them in the future in HD. I'm not going to buy a HD-TV and HD player yet, first the price has to come down. But I read a lot about Blu-ray and HD-DVD to see what I like best. I still can't believe we are in a format war again! I'm pretty sure I like Blu-ray more. I also read there will be players that can play both formats, that will make things much easier. Have you decided yet?

It's a good idea because generally the downloading is faster, you don't have to upload/share anything, the uploading is more anonimous than torrents, the downloading looks like normal internet traffic. Stuff like that.

So you ripped the .vob files to your hdd? You only need to demux them I think, since you hear audio when you play the video files...
I don't know mac the ripper but can't you select the demux option when ripping the dvd like this:

"You can also choose to demux the individual streams (.m2v, .ac3, .dts, .pcm, .spc) from the VOB, and select only the ones you want. To do this, click the "D" button (for demux), and then the "Streams" button to open the stream selection drawer. There, you can choose exactly which streams you want extracted."
