Idea: The Breakfast Club (1985) HD - better sources available?
Time

The HD-DVD and Blu-ray releases of The Breakfast Club (1985) are pretty “meh”.

I know this film isn’t visually-striking, but both look just like a nicely-upscaled DVD. Look here: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/comparison.php?cID=1584

Are there any better sources (HDTV, perhaps?) for this?

(Also, FWIW, the last release to include the original English mono mix was the 1998 DVD release.)

THX 1138 "preservations" + the 'THX 1138 Italian Cut' project (Released)
Time

I'm going to capture this once I get my Panasonic LX-900 back from Duncan.

I'd be willing to TooT it if someone can help me track down two more cheap copies.

I'll need the help. It was exhausting and expensive to find 3 Technidisc-pressed copies of the Star Wars SWE trilogy.

(That's 9 LD movies x 3 sides each = 27 captures to do!)

Anyways, the good news is I am working on V3 of these, plus I now have a MINT condition LP of Return of the Jedi now too, so the saga shall be complete at long last ;)

Rough time-scale, around Christmas I should think. New/better gear, and some new pressings...

Excellent news! Looking fwd to it, 7FN!

I agree. Excellent news!

Is there some way to get a sample?

I doubt that! But if you want to risk it, I can give you the webpage of the station with its prices and contact form on it. I won't publish it here publicly a) to avoid that everybody is asking them and they regard that suspicous because such a private copy is only for oneself and it is prohibited to hand it to third parties and b) to avoid that they can find this forum and see what is done with their recordings.

Sure, PM me.

Do I have to be a resident of your country?

I did some research and I have to revise my former statement. Indeed, one TV station comes to my mind that could actually have an archived source of the OOT. Assuming they have it and they are willing to hand out such a recording, it would be very expensive. I just checked their homepage: A recording of a broadcast with a length of not more than 120 minutes on DVD-R costs 111.80€. For up to 180 minutes it costs 123.80 €.

This TV station could eventually also be a source for missing episodes of Droids and Ewoks. One just needs money... a lot of money :-(

I'd be willing to cough up the money for the OOT if it's a different (and better) source than GOUT.

Is there some way to get a sample?
