Don't forget that the color (color temperature?) of the bulb used during projection has a MAJOR impact on the "tint" of the film.
Also, I forgot to mention: I don't know if VirtualDub inserts silence or does something more elaborate (e.g., cross-fading) when modifying the audio to handle frame insertions in the video. It handles frame deletions just fine, of course.

Yes, I've done it before.
It's great for us video folk who don't know too much about audio processing.
An alternative (possibly easier) option might be to sync the PSB video to GOUT-TESB in VirtualDub, inserting blank frames and deleting frames wherever appropriate.
Then all you need to do is turn on "Full Audio Processing Mode" when doing the render and you're all-set!
I PM'd Puggo to see if he still has the uncompressed (or losslessly-compressed) audio lying around.

This TV station could eventually also be a source for missing episodes of Droids and Ewoks. One just needs money... a lot of money :-(
I'd be willing to cough up the money for the OOT if it's a different (and better) source than GOUT.
