That the rips in question are bit-by-bit identical with the PCM track on the LD.

Thankfully, it's possible to salvage and sync time-compressed audio. I might have the '79 LD somewhere. I'll take a look.
I think my Philips CDV-488 might be the best for this. It has amazing analog audio reproduction!

I only ask because it might be cheaper to get a 3-day Usenet account from usenetserver.com ($5), but the usefulness of that depends on your connection, of course.

Yep, Technidisc (the company) sucked. Getting this unique transfer on LD might be the only thing they did "right", however messed-up it may be.
I need to get back into reading. I used to read a lot, but I haven't read a single book in the past year and I have no good excuse. :-/

Any LDs of Neverending Story in 1.85:1 are cropped. The film was shot in Technovision, which was a Panavision clone, so the original AR is 2.35:1-2.40:1.
