Check out the bizarre record album cover in this auction.

I had a few cover versions of the SW soundtrack over the years, but the art on this one takes the cake! We need an archive of these things...

LOL! Are you referring to the one with the dinosaur on it?

Kotaku.com posted an article regarding Adywan's work on the films.

Just be warned about the comments section. They kind of miss the point.

What I like about it is the Picture at the top with the "slider" comparison of the Official Blu-ray and the Revisited Empire Sticks Back.Just try out the slider. I think that is a good way to compare Movies, Pictures, Etc.

I didn't notice that. Thanks for pointing it out! I agree that it's pretty cool.

I think I've 8/10 preserved in my cupboard.
Will gladly post the XVIDs next week, and already posted the sample.avi -- look for it.
Unless you change my mind, I probably wouldn't be posting DVD9s because

Oh, I didn't know about that thread.

Don't worry about it, then, but I do appreciate the offer!

How to Calibrate your T.V.(Please read the first post)

We might want the VCD and SVCD formats in there.  We might want to account for regional difference such as PAL and NTSC.  Maybe we should include TV shows.  What about digital copies of movies you plug in with your thumb drive?  And does it make a difference if the TV is CRT, LED, or LCD?  What if it's a monochrome TV?  Should we still try to color correct?  I want to have the most ultimately calibrated TV ever!  I need answers!  Help me pat man.  You're my only hope.

OK, thanks for the suggestions. I expanded the list and sorted it by launch-date. Can you think of anything else to add?

All we need now is a guide for the following formats:

Home Video Technologies

  1. U-matic
  2. Betamax The Empire Strikes Back
  3. VHS/S-VHS/D-VHS
  4. Laserdisc
  5. CED
  6. VHD
  7. VCD/SVCD
  8. DVD Return of the Sith
  9. HD-DVD
  10. Blu-ray The Dark Knight

Television Technologies

  1. CRT
  2. LCD
  3. Plasma

Which formats am I missing? I think if we follow pat man's guides for each of the formats and calibrate in order from oldest to newest, then we'll have the most ultimately calibrated TV ever!

Edit: We need a guide for every combination, pat man.

Bump.  In case anybody needs help calibrating your TV, please refer to this thread.  I'd hate to see it get buried under a bunch of unimportant and nonsense threads.

I agree. The suggestion to use the The Empire Strikes Back betamax tape was priceless. I gave it a go last night and my TV is now even more calibrateder than it was before.

Edit: See the next post.

Wanted: Technidisc (a.k.a., Smear-free '93) Trilogy: I now own it!!!

Sorry, the Collector's Edition (the one with the white box set, to be clear, 1995) is clearly NOT smear-free... and also full of DVNR artifacts, like DC and "faces"... so LDDB was wrong... the inner sleeves are similar to the european THX, with the same cover art, but I presume the master used is the same of DC and "faces"...

I'm referring to the Japanese Special Collection from 1986.

SF148-1196
SF148-1242
SF148-1343

This smear-free set was used for the V8, X9, and Dark/Sega preservations.
