I'm still trying to work my way through Max Headroom.

If I understood you correctly, that's also a 1000-foot reel change (12676)
just like the other shrinks (70632 & 128032) are 1000-ft changeovers.
No, this minor shrink actually occurs in the middle of the actual wipe to Tatooine. The bottom border creeps up during the wipe. Not the same thing as the SWE issue though.
I remember noticing this when trying to determine how to best crop the JSC. It's odd that it isn't instant, but instead continues to creep up until it stops.
Thanks for confirming that, You_Too. Is the haloing present in TESB and ROTJ as well?
So weird! o.O
I'm thinking about reading Neuromancer again as well. I'm a bit of a Cyberpunk junkie...

Luke burns Vader.....we cut to the party....everyone having a good time....Leia looks off in the distance, sees something, walks off to investigate, Han, Chewie and co. follow her. We see Luke walking away from the funeral pyre, Leia walks up to him...they share a few words, maybe Leia tries to get him to come join the party...everyone else arrives just as Luke makes it clear that he'll be leaving. They all say their goodbyes, and Luke turns and walks towards his X-Wing, R2 wheels after him dutifully....but Luke notices, stops, bends down and speaks to him then rises again and walks away. R2 stays for a moment, watching Luke go, then turns and heads back to stand next to Leia, his new owner, and 3P0, his friend. Cut to a shot of Luke in the cockpit of his X-Wing....he smiles, we know everything is going to be ok, he takes off.....Han & Leia & co. rejoin the party. Last shot is either of the party, or of Luke's X-Wing flying towards the camera with Endor behind him. All or most of this would be sans dialogue, with music in its place.
This would have been GOLD......but sadly....we got the group portrait.
The face on that kid is priceless, georgec.
Despite all of its flaws, ROTJ is still my favorite.
Maybe I'm a sucker for happy endings, but I love Yub Nub as well.
Don't kill me... please...

Yeah, I'm a little confused too, Mackey. Do you mind clarifying what you meant?
Also, I have a bootleg DVD of Halloween Resurrection called Halloween Homecoming. The quality is absolutely terrible, but the beginning contains 8MM footage of Michael as a boy and family. It is rather creepy and it's a damn shame it wasn't used in the final cut.
Does anyone else notice haloing in GOUT? I see it around the crawl text and especially around the larger of the two moons in the opening shot.
Thanks for the information, TServo2049!
Excluding the aforementioned scene with screwy AR, cropping NTSC GOUT gives me 712x274.
Considering how much GOUT's already been cropped, is 712:274 (~2.59) the correct AR?
Use the meat cleaver and swing hard to break the bone.

Well I think that adding yellow to the red is a bad idea. After a little bit of research it seems that it should be something like this:
RED-Add cyan
Green-Add magenta
Blue-Add yellow
source=avisource()
rgb= source.ConvertToRGB()
red=rgb.showred().overlay(source.blankclip(color=$00FFFF),mask=rgb.showred(),mode="chroma",opacity=.5)
green=rgb.showgreen().overlay(source.blankclip(color=$FF00FF),mask=rgb.showgreen(),mode="chroma",opacity=.9)
blue=rgb.showblue().overlay(source.blankclip(color=$FFFF00),mask=rgb.showblue(),mode="chroma",opacity=.1)
newrgb=mergergb(red,green,blue)
mix=source.overlay(newrgb,mode="chroma",opacity=1.0)
return(mix)
This seems to work a lot better imo. The opacity for each channel has to be tweaked scene by scene still. Is anybody still pursuing this?

The Shout Factory version of Halloween 2 has the TV cut in SD but the deleted scenes (stuff from the TV Cut) are all in HD. That could prove be useful if you plan on using that footage in your edit.

Oh dear. That could create problems.
Snow Crash, again!
Speaking of Carrie Fisher...
Have any of you heard about this recent discovery? http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Did-I-Really-See-That/post/601025/#TopicPost601025

Same film element as the DC, different video transfer. The color balance is different, the framing is different, etc.
TServo2049 said:
No, the Technidisc version was specifically made to correct the shrinking ratio issue. It's a different transfer of a different film element (the same one transferred for the Definitive Collection/GOUT).
TServo2049 said:
Very very interesting. I had also assumed it was sourced from the same transfer, since it seemed to be converted from NTSC. Back in 2005, Russ Dawson and another user both noted that the '91 releases ran longer than the other PAL versions, and the '91 LBX release of Empire definitely looks to be a straight copy of the JSC/SWE transfer.
Does this also mean that the '91 doesn't have the shrinking ratio problem? And if it's a different transfer from a different print, why wouldn't it be a made-for-PAL transfer with 4% speedup?
Are we 100% sure that the "shrinking ratio" version also had the glued splices and weird blobs?
