Probably because it is a ridiculous threat.

LOL. Well, I had every intention of admitting I was #3, but I guess the gig was up faster than I expected. I had no malintent for the original, which should have been obvious to all who read my post, which was identical to pat man's own. It was intended to be a test of the theory, but my apologies if I offended. :)
Not offended, just irritated. I can do without having to clear this shit up. So someone found a vulnerability in the forum software, whoopie doo, now please stop fucking around with it or I'll start fucking around (i.e. banning) your real accounts.
This is a more-than-reasonable request. I don't think the pat men will be coming back.
With that being said, why was this thread moved to off-topic?
darth_ender said:
Oh, c'mon Bingo. We know this is another one of your smelly socks ;)
I know we all hate trolls, but this one's hard to put a finger on.
Is she a troll? If not, it'd be a shame for us to run her out of these forums.

You guys are off-topic.
And I'm shocked at you Moth3r for being off-topic, Because if people off-topic you say "stay on-topic, STAY on-topic, STAY ON-TOPIC", and we are not in the Off topic section of OT.com, now are we?
Moth3r wasn't off-topic. He deleted a post from pat man 3.
Damn! I'm going to have to wait until tonight to see the preview, but I can't wait!

Y are all of you doing this.
Because you started with all of this pat man 2 business! We know it was you!

Oh man this should be useful in the HOLIDAY SPECIAL SPECIAL EDITION
The quality of this will be so high compared to the rest of the Holiday Special that this portion will melt the 35mm film when it's being printed.
darth_ender: I can't PM you. Delete some old PMs! ;)

My first sock, deleted after a single innocuous post. I feel like a child who just got busted over my first tiny crime, sitting with a big stupid grin on my face :D
I'm going to have to wait until I get home tonight to check this out, but I'm looking forward to it!
You got the signature wrong, pat man 3.

By high-quality, I meant (for example) going through PuggoGrande's credits and removing the barrel distortion, crushing the blacks, doing noise reduction (and other cleanup), color correcting, etc. That is, making a version of the 1977 opening day credits that would fit right in with something like DJ & You_Too's project.
I think this is a great idea AntcuFaalb, and something that should be attempted seriously along with the X-Wing composite which is probably connected to this. At the moment very few sources have surfaced with these opening day credits, the Puggo Grande source is obviously in the highest quality of these despite being severely cropped. Puggo have stated that he might do a 2nd transfer of his print at a later point. So it might be a good idea to bring this up to him. Maybe treat the credits separately to get the best results out of it...
These '77 print variations may be minor, trivial and uninteresting to most people but I doubt we will see them officially preserved in the nearest future so I like the idea.
Excellent job, but I'm going to have to agree with Brash as well! :-/
He's back!!!
-1: So what's the team working on at this time? What would the progress bar look like? :-D

seventiesfilmnut = Nerfherder = 7FN = same chap, right?
In that case I already know the answer.
Didn't realize he had cap'ed the video, but I do have the PCM he ripped from that disc six years ago.
Last year I ask him for the mint marks and they indicate PVI California, with the 1989 copyright on his jacket.
If so, then why does he have so many usernames?!
Gunnar Thalin (author of Deshaker for Virtualdub) seems to think that gate weave is usually vertical, but the jitter in GOUT is entirely horizontal.
Is it possible that the jitter in GOUT is not caused by gate weave, but by something else entirely?

I don't see any of this as Alec being an ass. I think all of these little stories are very funny!
I don't think anyone here thinks he was being an ass? I think the stories are funny, too, but I rarely see any stories where he has something positive to say about SW or SW fans.
(from Wikipedia)
Upon his first viewing of the film, Guinness wrote in his diary:
"It's a pretty staggering film as spectacle and technically brilliant. Exciting, very noisy and warm-hearted. The battle scenes at the end go on for five minutes too long, I feel, and some of the dialogue is excruciating and much of it is lost in noise, but it remains a vivid experience."
I don't get it. Which lines in the dialogue are excruciating to him, in particular?

Copy that. I'll put my DVD on standby and to find out how to extract audio tracks from DVDs meanwhile. :)
It looks very, very promising what you're doing. I'm really looking forward to this. The original Star Wars from 1977 in HD. What elso can you wish for (except of a similar treatment for ESB and RotJ one day)? :)
we were working on the empire strikes back 35mm before we started star wars,
but then we shifted priorities to star wars. someone else will continue the
work with empire strikes back 35mm. we have good leads on return of the
jedi on 35mm. so it's just a matter of time.

Awesome. Looking forward to that. .)
Yes, me too. I'm most excited for ROTJ, as it's my favorite of the three.

I've synced dark_jedi's mono track to the new Blu-ray. It was more or less a case of removing the MGM logo from the start of the track (and the end), as it's not on the new disk. I had to compressed the dynamic range a bit as well, because if you leave it unchanged from DJ's, the softer scenes (particularly at the end of the film) get clipped out when you play it in a Blu-ray player. Wish I'd known that before I burnt it to a blank BD25 :P!
I have an ac3 of it that I muxed with tsMuxer. Anyone know if it's OK to put it on Myspleen or is that against the rules over there (also if DJ's OK with it).
It's not the kind of content that's preferred on MySpleen, but I don't think anyone would object to it being there, as it's not available anywhere else (in print) and it's from a laserdisc.

Can it be corrected for the end result of the project? Does it need to be corrected? I understand framerates, but not flags and scripts and such.
If it really is using a flag, then all we need to do is basically say: "Hey! I'm really 23.976 fps!".
I'll be looking into this closely tonight.

Incidentally I remember when the Blu-Rays were coming out there was a youtube video (with the official blu-ray logo thing at the start, but I suppose somebody could have edited that in to make it look authentic) which showed Luke throw (and miss) with his grappling hook, then try a second time and get it, just like people always thought they saw back in the day. But yet I never saw that again in the list of deleted scenes. Was this just a joke on the part of LFL?
It was a joke on the part of our very own Harmy.
Is it still available on YouTube, Frink?
