Frink's Digital Diorama [was: OT Deleted Scene Restoration Project?]

I too love ROTJ, and have been advocating an edit that would make great use of the deleted scenes. I would ask that you start with all of those, giving highest priority to those in color.

I will, of course, prioritize color scenes over B&W scenes.

I'm not too sure if I even have the motivation to restore the B&W ones.

But when it was just a close up of an actor, still, but with all the subtle movements and stray hairs blowing in the wind...that, with the 3D, made the movie come alive for me in a way that no motion picture had before.

I actually envy that you had that experience. That's what I wanted to feel! :(

Is it possible that you think it didn't look right because you associate the lack of motion blur with crappy shot-on-video productions, such as Soap Operas?

IVTC instead of deinterlacing.

the TFM and TDECIMATE filters should do a reasonable job at IVTC'ing but I've noticed a few things here and there that show jaggies so I added the Deinterlacing.  Do you think I should IVTC before Deinterlacing or just not Deinterlace at all? I've been using QTGMC because it's fairly automated, and it's also a good denoiser in the sense that I don't have to worry about it removing much detail.

A good solution to remove any "jaggies" is:

source.EDDI2(pp=3).TurnLeft().EEDI2(pp=3).TurnRight().ResampleHQ(source.width, source.height)

Why the new timing ?

Because the DS interior is actually blue.

I thought it was greenyblue?

It depends on the source.

Also, the lighting in some of the shots causes the blue to appear more green.

Damn. It's different in almost every single shot.

The "right to bear arms" part of the US constitution is as out of date as the right to slavery. It was written in there in pioneer times during the wild wild west, when there was danger all around and not much government. To Canadians it is bewildering--and also hilarious and sad--that this has remained. It's an obsolete law, just like owning a dildo in Arkensas can technically send you to a prison.

... I suggest studying the examples of the past century where firearms were successfully taken from citizens - countries such as Germany, the Soviet Union, Turkey, China, Uganda, Guatemala and Cambodia to name but a few. Despotic leaders in these countries killed untold millions of their own citizens after depriving them of their rights to bear arms. In these extreme cases, such deprivation clearly did not guarantee security.

This isn't a personal attack, zombie84.

My intent is to pit your already-established views against those of the author of the article.

Oh, and about the missing frames in the 97 SE: I've made a script that recreates some of them, like the ones happening mid-scene, and also if we take the Alderaan explosion as an example, this script takes the two last frames of that and creates two new ones inbetween, and the same with the first frame of the shot after it. There was no other source clean enough to replace them, and the 2004 SE frames couldn't be matched.

Unfortunately, it appears the post itself must of have been deleted :( All you can read is Frink's surprised reaction. If had happened to anyone else, it wouldn't have been so funny. But the fact that it quoted him, saying, "Hey, a spambot that can interact! The future is truly now," and he appeared so startled that he couldn't even make a joke about it, it just really made me guffaw.

I'm still afraid of that one.

The future is truly now.

SilverWook: Is the Japan LD of THX 1138 better than the US LD? Is it a different transfer?

Hi there. If you jump back to page 21, you'll find that msycamore posted a great deal of information regarding this:

I love how people are more offended that Zombie's against religion than the fact that he's made a sweeping generalization about all Americans. After seeing that, maybe he's got a point. #prioirities

I don't think anyone responded to the sweeping generalizations about all Americans because the statements themselves were born of ignorance rather than bigotry.
